The boys and girls soccer teams of Lisbon High have each won the MVC Championship Playoff game that was held Saturday Oct. 18 at Mt Blue High School against Mt Abram.
In BOTH games, the scores were tied at the end of regulation. (girls 0-0 and the boys 2-2). Both teams went on to play 2 five minute over time periods where no one scored. Sam Purcell, goalie for the women's team, turned away a penalty shot during the second over time period to preserve the tie.
Both teams then went to penalty shots. The men's goalie, Derrick Lycette was awesome in deflecting a final shot to secure a win for the men's team and the women's team outscored the Mt Abrams team by for a 3-1 victory!
It was an amazing day of soccer! Both games down to the wire! A beautiful day, beautiful scenery!
Congratulations to Mt Abram for great games, too! They are well coached and well disciplined. Classy teams!
