Lisbon Fire Department Conducts Training

The members of the Lisbon Fire Department conducted two nights of training at the site of the old Tiny Bills, formerly known as Food City. Members received training in roof ventilation and search procedures. Although the weather conditions were bitterly cold and icy, fifty percent of the departments’ members attended the three hour program. The building was donated to the department by area businessman and former Lisbon volunteer firefighter Scott Kelly. Training at this location will continue until the building is demolished. The Lisbon Fire Department would like to thank Scott Kelly for supporting our training efforts.

Firefighter Jimmy Wrobel takes a quick break after cutting a ventilation hole in the roof. The hole is cut to release the heat, smoke, and toxic gases that build up during a structure fire. This allows the interior firefighters to attack the fire and search the building for victims.

Lieutenant William Wallace and Engineer Dan Aceto are instructing Firefighter Lee Tancrede on how to properly cut a ventilation hole using the departments Ariel ladder. Members are taught these techniques due to the possibility of roof collapse while operating above the fire.
