Lisbon was leading the largest Maine wrestling tournament early on Monday and was only 1.5 behind Massebessic High School going into the consolation finals on Tuesday afternoon. Lisbon won 6 of 6 consolation final matches and 2 of 4 championship consolation finals matches to pull ahead of #2 ranked Class A Noble Knights.
Congratulations go out to Mike McNamama (125) and Joe Doughty (215). McNamama was unscored upon in the final match versus Joe Maio from Londenderry, NH and finished 10-0 to win a his weight class. Doughty won by pin in the second period versus #1 ranked Westbrook wrestler Andrew Drouin. Joe Doughty also won the Noble Pin Award by having the most pins in the fastest time in the tournament.
In total ten Lisbon wrestlers placed in the top six at the 33 team tournament, including second place finishers Cam Bubar and Kyle Huston. Mike McNamara and Joe Doughty are Lisbon's first Noble Champions.
Lisbon is scheduled to wrestle at the RED SKIN TOURNEY in Sanford on Friday and Saturday versus the top teams in New England, including NE Champions Timberlane, NH.
