Lisbon – On Monday, March 22 Junior Volunteers at Lisbon Community School welcomed Doug Stone, a member of Youth Activities Committee with the Lewiston Elks Lodge 371. Stone attended the students’ monthly meeting to present LCS second graders new dictionaries and book covers. The fifth graders volunteered during their recess to assist with the sorting and distribution of the dictionaries to teachers. The presentation marked the second year students in Lisbon were included in the nationwide Dictionary Project sponsored by the Lewiston Elks. “Providing students with their own dictionaries helps them become active readers, creative thinkers and good writers,” according to Stone.
