On
Tuesday 10/12, Lisbon Sugg middle school girls’ soccer played at home
and tied 1-1 against Winthrop. Greyhounds dominated the possession of
the ball almost the whole game, scored their goal in the first half, and
suffered a goal in the second half.
Greyhounds’
defensive line played solid and confident, including Center Back
Keyanna Barry, Left Fullback Mikayla Yanez, and Right Fullback Taylor
Feehan. Sweeper and Captain Kailyn Hill played a fantastic game, getting
several balls out of the defense. Middle fielders did an excellent job
by using every throw in to keep Lisbon in attack, including Left
Midfielder Abby Gamache and Right Midfielder Drew Stewart-Staples.
Offensive
line showed great improvement by playing closer to each other and
making several wall and square passes Left Forward Katheren George,
Center Forward Ashley Conrad and Right Forward Loren Grant. Greyhounds’
striker Ashley Conrad with technique and precision put the ball in the
opponent’s net by kicking a cross ball from the penalty mark to the left
of the goalie. Right Forward Loren Grant’s performance was marked by
hustle today. Loren ran the whole game and fought for every ball in the
attack.
Lisbon Sugg middle school girls’ next game is Thursday, 10/14 at 3:30 pm, at home against Gardner.
