Scam leaves dog lovers heartbroken

AUGUSTA -- Sadly, no dogs are shipped to the Augusta State Airport.

That's the news airport secretary Jane Dumas has had to provide to several people over the past few months. On Wednesday morning, she had to tell it to Sarah Cebula, of Puyallup, Wash.
Cebula, like the others, had sent money for dogs they believed would be shipped to them and were being held at the Augusta airport.
But the callers -- mostly from out of state -- are unaware that Augusta does not handle international flights, and does not accept shipped animals.
"We don't ship animals through here," Dumas said.
