In Case you Missed It: Violent Offender Threatens Governor, MaineHousing Fails to Report Incident
PORTLAND, ME
– As reported in The Maine Wire today, “It was a gun threat against
Maine Governor Paul LePage by an alleged violent offender. And yet,
according to Maine Housing information manager Deborah Turcotte, the
Maine State Housing Authority never reported the threat to the police.
Neither did MSHA contact the governor’s security detail.”
MaineHousing
reported the incident as a threat against MaineHousing, not as a threat
against the governor. The threat was publicly revealed in a
MaineHousing press release 14 days after the January 10, 2011 incident,
and did not mention Governor LePage. “Instead, the threat, falsely
portrayed as a threat against Maine Housing, was used to justify the
under-siege mentality the agency had adopted toward individuals
attending the public commissioners’ board meetings.”
MaineHousing has yet to report the incident to the governor’s security detail.
