Recap Lisbon Town Council Meeting 10-30-2012

RECAP TOWN COUNCIL MEETING – OCTOBER 30TH

Last night’s town council meeting was not as exciting as the previous meeting.  There were actually no issues voted on last night with the exception of “Consent Agenda” items and Executive Session.  These are more administrative issues than anything else.

Public Hearing – Billy Harris spoke regarding doing business as Bill’s Place.  This was approved by the council during Consent Agenda.

Audience Participation – Numerous individuals spoke on several issues.  The council did not provide any answers.

Audience Participation Response – Chairman LaRochelle stated the council is well aware of the Council Working Rules.

Other Business – Councilor Bickford brought up the idea of have an ATV Trail Ride in conjunction with the Moxie Festival.  This ride would support a charity for young people.  There was a discussion and more to come.  Mark Stevens provided an excellent report on the Recreation Department.  He outlined the programs available and what he has for a vision of things to come in the future.  Park Ranger Verla Brooks also gave a presentation outlining the programs available at Beaver Park.  She discussed the gardens around town and what she has for a vision for the future.  During the Town Managers report, Mr. Eldridge said the Fisher Bridge is finished, the Lisbon/Durham Bridge is scheduled for 2014, and he presented the Municipal Budget Schedule for 2013-2014.

Councilor Communications – Very Merry Main Street is on December 1, 2012. Councilor Mason has suggested having an “Open Forum” prior to council meeting in order to improve communication between residents and council.  This idea will go into effect during the first of December.

Councilor Mike Bowie said goodbye to everyone.  He did not seek reelection.  During his farewell presentation he thanked everyone for their support and the opportunity to serve the community.  Councilor Bowie has served the Lisbon community for twelve years.  As everyone knows I have criticized Councilor Bowie for his tactics and support of the Police Department Budget.  But Councilor Bowie has done a lot of great things for this community and for that I want to personally commend him.  I personally want to wish Councilor Bowie good luck in the future and thank him for the good things he has done for Lisbon.

Executive Order – The council voted to extend benefits for Officer Ryan McGee.

Councilor Bowie has done NOTHING but support Brooks and his wife's exhorbitant salary. He has not improved the Town in any way. He has manipulated everyone he could and hired Eldridge. He has made sure taxes have gone up and controlled the entire council. Sorry Larry, but he has NOT done any good things.
