This chart does not say that bats are the #1 weapon for homicide; it says bats are the #1 weapon used in violent crimes. BIG difference. Not all violent crime will end with a homicide. Data may very well be correct.

I used to trust snopes. I need to find a way to correct their page. Gun rights advocates don't say that more people are killed by bats than guns, they say more people are killed by blunt objects such as bats than are killed by assault rifles (or rifles of any kind). This is usually mentioned when people bring up reinstating the assault rifle ban.

Direct from the FBI. In 2011 323 people were killed with Rifles, 496 were killed with blunt objects. MANY more were killed with handguns (6220), but the legislation is attempting to ban assault rifles which make up a very small percentage of gun deaths.
