Do As I Say Not As I Do Could It Be Ending In Lisbon? The Final Word on Larochelle LLC's Illegal Tax Deduction

On January 8th Chairman Larochelle used his position as Chairman of the Lisbon Town Council to inappropriately and publicly condemn the local Blog’s for their coverage of Larochelle LLC’s illegal Tax Dedication.

Last week information was released from the Lisbon Tax Department (Mr. Van Tuinen) that supports the blog’s account of this illegal deduction. It appears all the Righteous indignation Chairman Larochelle spewed at January 8th’s Town Council Meeting was unwarranted. Lisbon Tax Department has now come to the conclusion that Larochelle LLC took Homestead exemptions over a 10 year period that they weren’t entitled to receive.

What happened to the life time exemption Chairman Larochelle referred to that made this exemption legal. Could Fern have been wrong and the "tabloids" right? What else has Fern been wrong about?

According to Mr. Van Tuinen’s letter, Larochelle LLC has paid $1866 to reimburse the program for the inappropriate deductions. I noticed interest and penalties have not yet been assessed. Interest alone on these unpaid taxes will almost double the amount owed.

The real looser in this matter is the Lisbon Town Council. Their silence for four months and apparent unwillingness to make one of their own accountable speaks directly to their own integrity.

Lisbon Councilor’s repetitive indignant denials of obvious lapses in their own leadership is becoming very tedious. The next time the Lisbon Council voices another one of their blanket denials I urge the public to remember all the times the blogs have proven the Council wrong.

Larry Fillmore said...: Once again, it is the blog sites that have to bring the truth out to the people. It is quite obvious that there is a double standard in Lisbon. Chairman LaRochelle does not have to pay interest on back taxes but everyone else does. The real question is why is it that the blog sites have to expose all of the corruption to the people. Where is the integrity and honesty in our elected officials? But what is more disturbing is why isn’t the state stepping in to help the people of Lisbon? Injustice should not be tolerated by anyone regardless of the home rule.; February 23, 2013 at 4:50 PM
