Former Maine Senator Olympia Snowe, the 2013 Moxie Day Parade Grand

The Moxie Festival Committee is pleased to announce that Grand Marshall former Senator Olympia Snowe will lead our State’s largest summer parade of Moxie floats, bands, and Mainers who love Moxie on Saturday, July 13th beginning at 10 am in Lisbon.
It
is free to participate in the Moxie Festival parade. Completed
applications must submitted by June 30, 2013. Entries will be judged on
creativity, originality and how well they depict the theme, “Moxie....A
Maine Tradition”
Entries
will be judged on creativity, originality and how well they reflect the
theme. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Most Moxie
Commercial and Non Commercial, Most Appealing, Most Creative and Best
Overall.
The
parade which attracts over 100 participants, begins at Capital Avenue,
travel down Rt. 196 and up Main Street before concluding at the
intersection of Main St. and South/North Sts. (Barnie’s Variety Store).

According
to Lisbon Public Safety Officials, over 50,000 people attend the
three-day Moxie Festival. The Town of Lisbon has approximately 9,300
residents.
Since
1982, The Moxie Festival in Lisbon, Maine has been held on the second
weekend in July. The Festival now includes a three day Pow Wow; Friday
night fireworks and Moxie Recipe Contest; a Saturday parade, Moxie Day
5K Race, Moxie Day ATV Charity Ride, and Family Fun Fair; and on Sunday,
the Chief Worumbo Androscoggin River Race and the Moxie Car Show.
Moxie was designated Maine’s official soft drink on May 20, 2005.
