Critical Response

Lisbon Chief of Police David T. Brooks
At last night's Town Council meeting, Tuesday July 16, 2013, Larry Fillmore asked why the police department is purchasing so many vehicles for the police department, stating that the taxpayers cannot afford to purchase, in some years, as many as 3 or more vehicles.
In response to Larry's questions Chief of Police David Brooks, (who by the way has all the answers) responded that they, the police department, needs to be ready to go at a minutes notice. If a vehicle is out of service due to repairs, (not word for word), that "in an emergency every minute counts". The last part is WORD FOR WORD, RIGHT OUT OF CHIEF OF POLICE DAVID BROOKS MOUTH!

Now why is it important that police response is that important when answering a call, but does not matter when making a 911 call?
All Lisbon 911 calls go to Androscoggin County Dispatch, then get re-routed back to The Town of Lisbon Communications Center, Com-Center at the town of Lisbon Police Department, Chief Brooks' expensive baby.

Mrs. Fitzgerald is 100% correct. Chief Brooks plays to his audience. When he is trying to get funding for the Police Department "every second counts in a life or death situation and when he is trying to get tax dollars for the communication center the fact 911 calls are relayed from Lewiston means nothing. 911 calls information being transferred to Lisbon before police, fire or medical can be dispatched only put our lives at risk. Chief Brooks plays the town council like a fine tuned violin.
