The fight is far from over.
L.D. 652, the Constitutional Carry bill, had a public hearing last week, but now it has to survive a crucial work session and vote in the Joint Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety.
If passed, Constitutional Carry would simply affirm that if you can legally possess a weapon, you have the right to carry it concealed for self-defense - without having to beg the government for permission first.
The committee work session for the bill is this Friday, April 17, at 1 p.m.
It’s critical you contact the committee members at the following numbers:
Sen. Kimberley Rosen: 207-469-3779 or 207-944-9179
Rep. Lori Fowle: 207-649-4863 or 207-748-3432
Sen. David Burns: 207-733-8856
Sen. Stanley Gerzofsky: 207-373-1328
Rep. Justin Chenette: 207-590-3266
Rep. James Davitt: 207-862-8113
Rep. Karen Gerrish: 207-651-5452
Rep. Michel Lajoie: 207-713-7119
Rep. Ricky Long: 207-267-1828
Rep. Catherine Nadeau: 207-557-1587
Rep. Timothy Theriault: 207-649-4434
Rep. Michael Timmons: 207-653-9783
Rep. Charlotte Warren: 207-441-9116
Tell them the citizens of Maine shouldn’t have to beg for government permission to exercise their rights, and they should pass L.D. 652 as written.
Insiders have warned me that some on the committee want to tear this bill to shreds and move forward with anti-gun language instead.
That's right - members of the committee want to gut the bill!
And without your support, they might win.
That’s why we need YOUR help to convince them to pass L.D. 652 as written.
Constitutional Carry will restore your Second Amendment rights.
So please contact the committee members RIGHT AWAY at the following numbers:
