DISPATCH CONTRACTS

On Tuesday night, at the Town Council meeting, the Council will be discussion and voting on the contracts with Durham and Greene for dispatch services.  This can be a critical issue for the community.

Currently, these two contracts will expire December 31, 2015.  The Town Council has to vote on renewing these contracts and for how long.  This town needs to continue its efforts to consolidate the Lisbon Communication Center with the Androscoggin County Dispatch.  So, we need to ensure the following:

1.    The Town Manager negotiates these contracts.

2.    These contracts contain a clause explaining the possibility of consolidation with County.

3.   Because of the possible consolidation, these contracts are annual.

There is going to come a time when the Town Council will be made up of individuals who will put the town’s best interest first instead of being intimidated by anyone.  I am hoping this will happen with this year’s election.  After the vote on proceeding forward with the dispatch consolidation project at the last meeting, it was very apparent the current Town Council is more interested in their loyalty to Chief Brooks than what is in the best interest of the community.

I would have spoken up at the last town council meeting and this one coming up Tuesday night but we all know that Chairman Pesce is NEVER going to allow me to speak the truth.
