RECAP TOWN COUNCIL MEETING/WORKSHOP – NOVEMBER 17TH


At last night’s Town Council meeting the following took place.  This is a summary.

Under Council Orders, Resolutions & Ordinances:

1.    Resolution – Downtown Omnibus Municipal (TIF) District Development Program.  The Council voted 6-0 with Councilor Crafts being excused to continue forward with the program.

2.   Wellness Grand Award Acceptance – The Council approved the acceptance of $410.00 for the quarterly Wellness Grant.  Each quarter the town must apply for this grant.

3.   Surplus Property Bid Award – The Council voted 6-0 to accept the bid for $850.00 from Bruce Morris for the 2000 GMC Sierra.  The other two vehicles did not receive a minimum bid so the council approved advertising these vehicles with no minimum bid.  Also, Council Bickford suggested Ryan Leighton look into selling the Boom Truck for parts.

4.   School Budget Validation Referendum Schedule – The Council approved the schedule by a vote of 6-0.  The next Referendum vote will be on January 12, 2016.

Under Other Business – The Town Manager’s Reported that the position of Mechanic had been filled from within and the town was advertising for a 50/50 position.  Dennis Douglas, Code Enforcement Officer, and Chief Brooks, Chief of Police both gave the monthly Department Head Report.

That ended the meeting side of it and then the Council went into a Workshop on Solid Waste Disposal.  Liza Ward and Ryan Leighton provided some statistics on Curbside Service and Pay-as-You-Throw.  No decision was reach and more information was needed on other options.
