RECAP TOWN COUNCIL MEETING – MARCH 15TH


Last night’s Town Council meeting had a small agenda but was very educational.  The following is a summary of what took place.

Council Orders, Resolutions & Ordinances –

1.    Transfer Snowmobile Reimbursement to Recreation Reserve Account – The Council approved by a vote of 6-0 with Councilor Metivier excused the amount of $2,250.00 to the Recreation Reserve Account which has a current balance of $4,917.67.

2.   Re-designate funds for Beaver Park Trailer – The Council approved by a vote of 6-0 to designate $533.01 from the Ball Field account for the purchase of the Beaver Park Trailer.

3.    Election of 216 AVCOG Officers – The Council approved the listing of AVCOG Officers by a vote of 6-0.

Other Business –

1.                        The Town Manager reported a very strong tax collection for the second half of the year.  Also, she filed papers on 12 delinquent accounts with the court for further action.

2.                        Department Head Oral Report – Mark Stevens from the Recreation and Parks Department presented an update on what is going on in the Recreation and Parks Department.

3.                        Finance Director Report- School Funding Overview.  Ed Karass provided an overview of how to read and understand the State of Maine ED 279 system.  This is the state system that determines how much the state will reimburse the town for education. 

4.                        The Town Manager presented her 2016-2017 Municipal Budget which has an increase of over $600,000.  Remember this is the basic presentation and will change many times over as the Town Council work through it with the Town Manager.

Appointments –

1.    Lisa Ward was appointed to the Appeals Board with an expiration date of 2018.

2.   Fern Larochelle was appoint to the Appeals Board with an expiration date of 2017.

3.   Chris Rugullies was appointed to the Appeals Board with an expiration date of 2016.
