Two students at the State University of New York at Albany were expelled and a third was suspended after reporting a fake hate crime in January on a public bus.
Ariel Agudio, Asha Burwell and Alexis Briggs, all 20 years old, accused two 19-year-old passengers of starting a race-based fight, calling them names and assaulting them. One even posted about the alleged assault on social media right after it happened.
