The tax conformity debate in the State House boils down to this: Democrats are fighting an unproven tax giveaway that would come at the expense of Maine students and taxpayers.
Democrats and Republicans are in complete agreement that Maine should fully conform to the federal tax code for the next two years. We are delighted that Republicans can agree with President Obama and other Democrats that the middle class and small businesses deserve the tax breaks in the federal tax code.

(Via Breitbart) “We’ve had students who have tried to find empty rooms, I’ve even heard of a student using a stairwell so we did think this was a very important and necessary thing to respond to,” Dean of Students Lyn Redington said, according to CBS2Iowa. “The University of Iowa is a global, international institution, but we want all of our students to feel welcomed.”
“Normally when I’m on campus, I try to look for an empty room, which may be hard in the day with all these students or if I can’t find a room I’ll go to the top of a staircase and just pray there,” said Mohammed Ismail, a member of the Muslim Student Association (MSA).

I’m sure these same students will line up to ban the movie White Christmas next not only for the song, but because it isn’t racially diverse enough. The petition was a farce, thank goodness. But that didn’t stop students from signing it.

GOPDD: School falls apart after teachers told not to punish minority students because of white privilege

Schools are becoming increasingly violent and controlled by gangs – even at the elementary level, due to political correctness. It is making life hell for the students who want to learn as well as their teachers. One school in Minnesota has become so bad a teacher sent an anonymous letter to a local newspaper reporter revealing the horrific conditions.

The teachers of the St. Paul school district are “scared” of some of their students and the dangerous environment in their classrooms, according to an anonymous teacher who sent a heartfelt message to a reporter from the local newspaper.

Gov. LePage has, you might say, some unusual views about the Maine Constitution.
In July 2015 the governor neglected to veto a whole slew of bills he wanted to veto.  

After the Maine Supreme Judicial Court received arguments (including a brief by three Maine citizens who claimed the Legislature and Attorney General Mills were traitors), it ruled unanimously that the governor was wrong about the veto and adjournment provisions.

As we grew up, we found that it was only when others pointed it out that there were any differences with people.  Some of us might have more pigment than others, others might have a different texture of hair.  But all in all, we all had the same likes and dislikes mostly.  So, when people started talking about Affirmative Action and diversity, most people saw that there was a need.

Over the last several years, we have found that the word diversity has become a catch all Leftist phrase.  It is a way in which people have wedged political and socio-economic gains.  They have done this under the guise of us being “color blind.”  We are told that we should want the best candidate, businessperson, and partner.  That there should be no regard made over color or race.  So what does the left do when they have done too good a job?

GOPDD: Illegal Immigrants Sue for Lower Tuition in Missouri

Apparently, it’s not good enough for illegal immigrants to be allowed to break our laws. Now, they’re demanding lower tuition rates too. 

Three illegal immigrants, shielded from deportation by President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, are suing three Missouri colleges, charging the schools’ tuition is too high.

 

The Missouri branch of the American Civil Liberties Union filed three separate suits on behalf of the unnamed illegal immigrant students against the University of Missouri, St. Louis Community College and the Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City this week calling for the students to receive in-state tuition rates.

The number of schoolchildren participating in the school lunch program continues to decline, as 1.4 million students have dropped out of the program since First Lady Michelle Obama’s lunch rules went into effect.

A new Government Accountability Office (GAO) report found that schools are still struggling to meet the healthy rules, with kids not taking to sweet potato tater tots or whole grain pasta.

“Nationwide, participation in the National School Lunch Program has declined in recent years after having increased steadily for more than a decade,” the GAO said in its report released Wednesday. The government watchdog found that 1.4 million students have stopped participating in the program since the 2010-2011 school year, a 4.5 percent decline. In 2014, 30.4 million students participated, down to 2006 levels.

GOPDD: U.S. State Launches Legislation to SHUT DOWN Islamic Indoctrination at Schools

Looks like a Tennessee Republican in the state legislature has some common sense, proposing a bill that would prohibit the teaching of any sort of “religious doctrine” in the state’s schools until at least the 10th grade.

“I think that probably the teaching that is going on right now in seventh, eighth grade is not age appropriate,” Rep. Sheila Butt of Columbia told The Tennessean.

LISBON — Superintendent Richard Green told the School Committee on Tuesday night that the new Lisbon High School gymnasium is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 21.

In fact, I'm amazed that Christian husbands want their wives to work in the belly of the beast to indoctrinate children and at the same time be put in the kinds of circumstances as Long Island high school teacher Lynne Albuquerque. Albuquerque, a science teacher, who alleges that a black student threatened to rape her. However, it was the school's response to those allegations that got a lawsuit filed against them.
