Restricting freedom of the press seems to be the norm for this administration and once again, they have demonstrated an unwillingness to be transparent with the American people on what is presumably a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act as Jade Helm 15 begins. Yet, the military is not allowing media access to Jade Helm 15 military exercises taking place on American streets.

The Washington Post reports:
Jade Helm 15, the controversial Special Operations exercise that spawned a wave of conspiracy theories about a government takeover, will open next week without any media allowed to observe it, a military spokesman said.

Embedded reporters won't be permitted at any point during the exercise, in which military officials say that secretive Special Operations troops will maneuver through private and publicly owned land in several southern states. Lt. Col. Mark Lastoria, a spokesman for Army Special Operations Command, said his organization is considering allowing a small number of journalists to view selected portions of the exercise later this summer, but nothing is finalized.

The common response is, "Well, we don't want our enemies to know what we're doing." OK, fine. Then why do we embed any reporters in actual warfare? Ever asked yourself that question? Why must we be so secretive about this particular 3-month long exercise that will take place on American streets, allegedly in preparation for war in the Middle East? Does that make any sense?

Lastoria issued a statement to the Washington Post on Wednesday, which read:
"All requests from the media for interviews and coverage of U.S. Army Special Operations Command personnel, organizations and events are assessed for feasibility and granted when and where possible. We are dedicated to communicating with the public, while balancing that against the application of operations security and other factors."


People have stood by the Jade Helm exercises as a "defensive measure" and such. The Rand Corporation even attempts to line up a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act with such use of the American military. According to a document on their site titled Overview of the Posse Comitatus Act, we read: Pursuant to the presidential power to quell domestic violence, federal troops are expressly exempt from the prohibitions of Posse Comitatus Act, and this exemption applies equally to active-duty military and federalized National Guard troops.

So, what's wrong with that? After all, isn't Jade Helm being promoted as dealing with dissidents and insurrection? It is, but the power to put down insurrection does not lie with the US military. It lies with the militia (the People).

Article 1, Section 8 reads that part of Congress' enumerated powers are to:
To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions;
To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the states respectively, the appointment of the officers, and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

Some will call this the National Guard, but that is not true at all. In fact, we know from history that Congress could constitutionally mandate guns and ammunition purchases for the militia for defense and that consisted of the men of the states.

I applied for a building permit for a new house. 
It was going to be 100 ft tall and 400 ft wide, with 12 gun turrets at various heights, windows all over the place, and a loud outside entertainment sound system. It would have parking for 200 cars, and I was going to paint it green with pink trim.

VIENNA—Officials with the Department of State threatened to call security Monday on a Washington Free Beacon reporter who was attempting to report on a briefing held by senior Obama administration figures in Vienna on the eve of an expected nuclear agreement with Iran.

Two State Department officials booted the Free Beacon from a room where Wendy Sherman, the undersecretary of state for political affairs, was talking to reporters, despite the Free Beacon’s being credentialed by the Austrian government for the ongoing Iranian nuclear talks.

Western observers present in Vienna for the talks linked the State Department’s behavior to jitters over media coverage revealing a still growing list of concessions being made to Iran by the Obama administration.

Melissa Turley, a State Department official, approached a Free Beacon reporter and demanded that he leave the room.

On Tuesday Morning, activists, concerned citizens, and advocates will be gathering at the State House to encourage lawmakers to sustain Gov. LePage’s veto of the next biannual state budget. Support for the Governor’s veto has been growing since the budget deal was released two weeks ago, due to the fact that the budget contains a $300 million spending increase, does little to address the need for welfare reform, is actually a significant tax increase, and is overall a bad deal for Maine. 

The rally, which is set to start at 8:30 am in the Hall of Flags in the State Capitol, will take place just hours before the legislature is set to vote on the Governor’s veto of the budget plan. […]

A Bad Deal for Maine

On Monday, Gov. LePage is expected to veto the legislature’s $6.7 biennial state budget, and force lawmakers to either over-ride his veto or head back to the budget negotiating table. And while significant attention will be given (by Democrats and members of the media) to the fact that LePage’s veto means Maine could be heading

 The deal is riddled with flaws and shortcomings, and would fail to move Maine towards prosperity or economic growth. It does not adequately address the largest issues facing Maine, nor does it reflect the core ideas and principles that Republicans were overwhelming elected on last November.[…]

Just What We Need More Government Oversight ~ Worked Great For Amtrak Employees, Claim They Worked 40 hours plus In One Day

Timesheets for employees of Amtrak are riddled with abuse, according to a recent audit report, with cases of workers claiming over 40 hours of work in a single day.

The audit released by Amtrak’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) Thursday found examples of abuse in the overtime system, which totaled nearly $200 million in overtime pay last year.

“[Calendar Year] CY 2014 timesheet data revealed trends and patterns that indicate potential fraud, waste, and abuse in the reporting of overtime and regular time,” the audit said. “Some of these trends and patterns may be justified because of the complexity of union agreement rules, the nature of jobs, and the functions employees perform.”

On the eve of the Jade Helm military drill set to take place next month, Texas Governor Greg Abbott indicated his distrust of the Federal Reserve’s fiat monetary system in a move to repatriate $1 billion of gold back to his home state.

Countries such as China and Germany have made similar moves, with the German Central Bank, or Bundesbank, earlier this year saying it also has plans to repatriate 300 tonnes of gold from the New York Fed by 2020.

Just today, British hedge fund manager Ian Spreadbury, who handles billions in investment, revealed he warns his clients of the market’s “systemic risk,” and said he advises them to store “physical cash” due to its overwhelming volatility.

CARIBOU, Maine — The effort to split one northern Maine municipality into two communities moved a step closer to reality Monday night.
Members of the Caribou Secession Committee submitted their petition to leave Caribou and take 80 percent of its landmass with them.

“Tonight, after nearly nine months of circulating our petition and tabulating the results, we are submitting it to you for certification by the city clerk,” Secession Committee Spokesperson Paul Camping told members of the city council.

Camping told councilors that supporters gathered about 1,250 signatures, which he was confident exceeded the number needed to require a public hearing and advance the cause. The exact number of signatures required has to be more than 50 percent of the registered voters in the proposed area of secession; that number will be determined by Caribou City Clerk Jayne Farrin.

Lisbon, How's Your School Lunch Look? Shocking Pictures Comparing US School Lunches to Other Countries Goes Viral

Since the program’s inception, Michelle Obama’s Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act has offended the sensibilities of the entire nation.

Conservatives found the program to be invasive, thrusting D.C.’s hand into local education matters. Educators found the program wasted enormous amounts of food and money. Parents found the lunches far too light to be considered “meals.” And school children everywhere took to the Internet with pictures of the gruesome dishes the program sloshed onto their cafeteria trays every day.

Those pictures did massive amounts of damage to Michelle’s pet program, but now an even worse PR disaster rears its head. This week the U.K. Daily Mail ran pictures of what other countries feed their school children. The comparison is stark … and humiliating for the United States.

The “meal” above featuring an orange slice, a puddle of either apple sauce or a pulverized slice of peach or pear, and what looks like lumpy chipped beef without the toast is one of the dishes that complies with Michelle’s totalitarian program.

Compare this insult to parents, palettes and taxpayers alike with what other nations feed their school children.

The contrast below is striking to say the least.

There you have it. Those are samples from a bankrupt Mediterranean nation, a former second-world nation, a financially stricken European nation, a favela-ridden South American nation and some of our other allies.

Every single one manages to feed their schoolchildren in a more thorough, appetizing and seemingly humane way than the world’s lone remaining superpower (H/T U.K. Daily Mail).

What Michelle Obama has done to our children’s food is a national disgrace, and she should hang her head in shame.
