Now That All The Dust Has Settled, Here Are Some Facts About The Awesome Mine Rescue In Chile

By Michelle Malkin --
While the White House may not believe in American exceptionalism, I do.  And I'm thinking there's a whole bunch of people in Chile that would agree.
Regarding the mine rescue, did you know:
The guy that designed the rescue module was a NASA Engineer?
The Drill was made by Schramm Inc. from Pennsylvania.
The Drill Bits were made by Center Rock, Inc. located in Berlin, Pennsylvania.
The lead driller Jeff Hart and his team are from Denver, Colorado.
They are on loan from the US Military in Afghanistan where they are drilling water wells for our Forward Operating Bases.
He (op cit Jeff Hart) spent the next 33 days on his feet, operating the drill that finally provided a way out Saturday for 33 trapped miners.  "You have to feel through your feet what the drill is doing; it's a vibration you get so that you know what's happening," explained Hart.
Hart was called in from Afghanistan, "simply because he's the best" at drilling larger holes with the T130's wide-diameter drill bits, Stefanic said.
Standing before the levers, pressure meters and gauges on the T130's control panel, Hart and the rest of the team faced many challenges in drilling the shaft. At one point, the drill struck a metal support beam in the poorly mapped mine, shattering its hammers. Fresh equipment had to be flown in from the United States and progress was delayed for days as powerful magnets were lowered to pull out the pieces.
The mine's veins of gold and copper ran through quartzite with a high level of abrasive silica, rock so tough that it took all their expertise to keep the drill's hammers from curving off in unwanted directions. "It was horrible," said Center Rock President Brandon Fisher, exhausted after hardly sleeping during the effort.
Fisher, Stefanic and Hart called it the most difficult hole they had ever drilled, because of the lives at stake.

"If you're drilling for oil and you lose the hole, it's different. This time there's people down below," Stefanic said.

"We ruined some bits, worked through the problems as a team, and broke through," Hart said. "I'm very happy now."
Miners' relatives crowded around Hart on Saturday, hugging and posing for pictures with him as he walked down from the rescue operation into the tent camp where families had anxiously followed his work.
"He's become the hero of the day," said Dayana Olivares, whose friend Carlos Bugueno is one of the miners stuck below.
In a different day and age, Jeff Hart would be the most famous American in our country right now.  He would be honored at the White House.  School children would learn of his skill and heroism.  But because Jeff Hart works in an industry currently  being demonized by (insert name for the clowns currently running our country) more people in Chile will celebrate this symbol of American greatness than in America itself.

Property Taxes Are Connected To Wall Street, Here's How

The Big Wall Street Banks Have Found A New Way To Strangle The American People: Predatory Property Tax Collection

It turns out that the big Wall Street banks have found a dirty new way to make loads of cash from U.S. homeowners, and they really, really don't want to talk about it.  So what is this dirty new business?  America's biggest financial institutions have become property tax collectors, and it is extremely lucrative.  From coast to coast, the big Wall Street banks are buying up thousands upon thousands of tax liens and are making a killing by socking distressed homeowners with predatory interest, outrageous penalties and almost unbelievable legal fees.  In some areas, the big banks are able to foreclose on these homes in as little as six months.  The elderly and the poor are the most common targets of these practices.  An absolutely brilliant expose in the Huffington Post has brought these issues to light, and it is creating quite a controversy in the financial world.  The big banks are doing nothing illegal here.  Local governments are offering to sell thousands of tax liens and somebody is going to end up buying them.  But something seems extremely unsavory about the big Wall Street banks capitalizing on the economic downturn that they were so instrumental in causing in such a predatory manner.

Today, millions of American families are barely hanging on to their homes by their fingernails.  Millions are out of work and millions of others are barely making enough to put food on the table.  Meanwhile, property taxes have absolutely soared in most areas of the nation over the past decade.  Many Americans are finding that when that time rolls around they simply do not have a big chunk of extra money to pay a property tax bill.
So millions of American families, including many that have completely paid off their homes, now find themselves in danger of being thrown out on to the street over an unpaid property tax bill.
For many local governments, the headache of trying to collect on thousands of property tax liens is just too much, so they are glad to "outsource" the work of collection.

Wall Street titans have a new sweet spot -- as surrogate tax collectors. They see profits in tacking on fees and threatening to foreclose when homeowners fall behind on property taxes.

Lisbon Community School Receives Wal-Mart Distribution Grant‏

Lisbon Community School Principal, Carlene Iverson, and LCS School Resource Officer, Darin Estes, accept a grant of $250 for the school from Phil Williams, (at left) an associate at the Wal-Mart Distribution in Lewiston.  Photo by Monica Millhime.

Lisbon – Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Lewiston recently donated $250 to Lisbon Community School as part of Wal-Mart’s VAP (Volunteerism Always Pays) Program.  Phil Williams, an associate with Wal-Mart spent over 25 hours volunteering his time assisting Estes with Lisbon’s D.A.R.E. 5th grade Bass Fishing Club.  The fishing club offered 24 fifth grade students two lessons of instruction and three fishing trips to Sabattus Lake.

“The Wal-Mart grant funds will be used to purchase additional titles for our library not currently budgeted,” shares Iverson.  “Our students benefit from the corporate grants and from our community partners’ employees volunteering time at our schools with real life experiences.”  Lisbon Community School located at 33 Mill Street, Lisbon, serves over 600 students from Pre-K to grade 5.

So Just Who Is Independent Eliot Cutler?

Well, by his own admissions, he once was a Democrat, now he has been reborn again, so to speak as an Independent running for the candidacy of governor in this great state of Maine.  So, just because he has been successful in his private life as a businessman, he now wants to come back here and help Mainer's.  Ah,, hello, does anyone else think this is just a little bit awkward?
No matter how much money you throw at the problem, it still has to be fixed.

The rhetoric used by candidates seeking public office is really amusing to me.  Some messages are clear and concise and others are hidden with words that would make 'seasoned hunters' brown with envy.

For instance, now just how wrong is it for a person that basically snubs their nose at being educated in public schools and was afforded the opportunity to get an education in the private sector.  But NOW, society is good enough that they are wanting your vote for the position they seek.  Come on people see through the "smoke and mirrors".

The political season in Maine and across this nation is in full swing.  And I liken it to not much difference then Carnival season.  Only real difference is our roadsides don't look like a paper and poster dump along the roads when the carnivals roll into town.  The entertainment is just about the same maybe even more stimulating.  But anyways, I just had to vent.   Read what one group has done for research on Eliot Cutler and take it as it may.

Thanks and make certain you get out and Vote this year.

Civil Rights Team Training‏

Lisbon - On Friday, October 1, a training conference was held in Augusta for teacher, community and parent advisors of Civil Rights teams within Maine schools.  Lisbon Schools were well represented at the training.  Pictured (l-r) Lisbon Community School teacher aid advisor, Pearl Scribner; Philip W. Sugg teacher advisor, Gretchen Stevens; Lisbon High School parent advisor, Kathi Yergin, and Lisbon Community School teacher advisor, Amy Brown.  Community advisor for all three Lisbon Schools, Monica Millhime, also attended.

“The Civil Rights Team Project is a school-based preventative program to combat hate, violence, prejudice, harassment and bias in schools,” shared Thomas Harnett, Assistant Attorney General and facilitator of the training session.  “The CRTP builds a collaborative of students, facility and community advisors who work together to create a safe environment for all students and to lower incidence of hate language in the school community.  Through regional student and staff in-service trainings, schools work together to reduce the incidence of bias language that too often leads to bias-based threats and violence.”  Advisors engaged in idea sharing and best practices and discussed activities for student teams to work on prior to the all day student training sessions.  Members of the Civil Rights team from Lisbon High School and Philip W. Sugg Middle School will be attending the training in Augusta on Tuesday, November 2.  Civil Rights team members from Lisbon Community School will be attending the student training on Wednesday, November 3.  "We are fortunate to have advisors in Lisbon who recognize the importance of intervention and peer building to reduce intolerance.  Students and advisors who attend training sessions come away feeling energized and empowered to work toward creating and maintaining a supportive, safe and caring environment at school," comments Millhime.  Photo by Monica Millhime

Ethics Commission Finds No Fault with LePage Auto Use

Press release issued yesterday.

Panel Votes 5-0 to turn back Ethics Complaint Filed by Democrats

Waterville, Maine - The Maine Ethics Commission today voted unanimously to reject a complaint filed by the Maine Democratic Party alleging an inappropriate in-kind contribution to the LePage for Governor Campaign.  The complaint alleged that Mardens had provided Paul LePage with a company car for use as part of his campaign for Governor.

In response to written requests from the Ethics Commission, John Morris, Chief of Staff of the Paul LePage for Governor Campaign, verified the following:

·         Paul LePage is provided a company car as part of his compensation
·         The company care has been a part of Paul's package for more than a decade
·         Mayor LePage is still employed as the General Manager at Mardens
·         Paul LePage is responsible for gas for the vehicle
·         The dollar value of the personal use mileage gets reported on Mayor LePage's W-2 as income for withholding and tax payment purposes.   This will include campaign mileage.

"The Maine Democratic Party put out a press release concerning their complaint before the complaint had even been filed with the commission," said John Morris of the LePage Campaign.   "Today the Maine Ethics Commission decided unanimously not to pursue their complaint.   We appreciate the professionalism of the Ethics Commission staff and the quick and decisive decision reached by the commission members."

A Plan For Economic Growth From Jason Levesque

How to get the economy on track and bring jobs back to Maine’s 2nd District

Jason Levesque: “You don’t need 2400 pages of bureaucracy to call it a policy.”

Auburn, Maine – 2nd Congressional District Candidate Jason Levesque today released a series of policy goals and plans to get the economy back on track and bring jobs back to Maine.  The multi-point plan incorporates ideas Jason has been sharing across the district through his campaign for Congress.   These policies address the concerns voiced by members of the public during Jason’s 14 months on the campaign trail.

“I’m a small businessman, husband and father. I know what families are going through trying to manage their budgets right now.  The biggest concern I hear from people is the lack of jobs and the government’s inability to enact policies that lead to job creation, stability, and prosperity. The path Congress has put us on is unsustainable. We must change course, and change course right away. We know the solution is not this unlimited government spending we’ve been put through. People want jobs and we must fix the problems and remove the obstacles that are causing our massive job losses and preventing job growth.  We must eliminate the climate of uncertainty for small businesses.

“A part of my policy plan is to repeal and halt many of the activities of this current Congress.  Mike Michaud will follow Nancy Pelosi’s talking points and tell you that makes me a member of the party of ‘no.’  However, I believe that to put our nation and economy back on track we must first change the direction.  Repealing, reforming and stopping the massive spending and growth of government is the first step in doing so. Then, I will say ‘yes’ to policies that allow job creation so we can all get back to work.

“These are simple to address policy proposals that can be implemented quickly.  You don’t need 2400 pages of bureaucracy to call it a policy.”—Jason Levesque, 2nd District Congressional Candidate.

THE LEVESQUE PLAN FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH

“We live in the greatest nation in the world; that does not mean it is not without problems and does not mean we cannot improve. In a global economic world, we must realize our economic stability is foremost in our domestic and foreign policy decisions. We must be stable to succeed”. –Jason Levesque

Improve our economy and bring jobs to Maine:

· Repeal Obamacare and replace with:
Open state lines so people can purchase insurance from anywhere, same as car insurance.  This increases competition thereby reducing costs.

Implement true TORT reform to get lawyers out of the exam room. Cap payouts and require initial mediation to eliminate frivolous lawsuits.

Allow small businesses to pool to purchase insurance and get same rates as large companies.

All health care expenditures including insurance for everyone should be tax deductable.

· In addition to direct costs to employers--including a medical device excise tax, the massive cost for employers in this legislation is already killing jobs.

Reduce over regulation and require regulatory consistency:

We need a law requiring regulatory consistency. A five year “grandfather law” on new regulations with an emergency waiver process. We can’t keep forcing businesses to re-comply yearly to new and arbitrary regulations.

Review all regulations on a periodic timetable. Many imposed regulations are unnecessary and outdated.

Reduce the corporate tax rate:

We have second highest in the world-second to Japan. It has long been said in politics—how do you love employees and hate employers? The massive taxation on corporations limits their ability to grow and hire. If we reduce the corporate tax rate we will be able to allow them to expand and put more jobs on the payroll. While I would prefer a massive cut to 15%. I believe we have to do it in steps. I would favor a 5% reduction per biennium in order to get us down to a reasonable rate in the long term.

Reduce taxes:

Extend the Bush Tax Cuts. They affect everyone, you do not raise taxes in a recession—to not extend is to create a massive tax increase.

The Health Care Bill and the Cap and Trade legislation create massive tax and cost increases for businesses. Eliminating them would allow businesses to grow and hire.

Permanently abolish the Death Tax.

Reduce the Capital Gains tax.

The outrageous spending is sending us down an unsustainable path and Washington will demand more tax increases if we do not stop this.

Reduce payroll tax levels.

"Lower rates of taxation will stimulate economic activity and so raise the levels of personal and corporate income as to yield within a few years an increased – not a reduced – flow of revenues to the federal government." – John F. Kennedy, Jan. 17, 1963, annual budget message to the Congress, fiscal year 1964

Address Energy Independence:

Cap and Trade is a massive tax increase that will cost the average Maine family $1000 per year. It must not be implemented.

Implement tax incentives for renewable energy sources to increase output and/or construct new plants. Nuclear is a clean, efficient and affordable form of such.

Allow drilling in ANWAR to help reduce our dependence on foreign oil which is an economic and security drain on our nation.

Reduce our massive debt--$13 Trillion and Climbing:

Use unspent stimulus and TARP funds to pay down debt.

Require companies who are profitable and have received TARP funds to start paying back the money and use it to pay down the debt.

Require a balanced budget on all discretionary spending.

End the earmark process. All appropriations should be transparent and receive an up or down vote. Including pork-barrel funding projects in unrelated legislation diminishes the intent of the process.

Federal regulations and the process by which they are implemented should be reduced. Government needing to shrink is a policy. Agencies have far too much power to destroy companies. Their power should be limited.

All spending legislation should require a sunset provision so unnecessary or outdated programs are not continually funded indefinitely. Lawmakers should be required to periodically vote to continue funding.

Solve our Illegal Immigration Crisis:

Illegal immigration affects our economy, our education and health systems and our national security.

Inferior metal used on Navy subs

Search under way for affected boats as fraud charges are leveled against Pennsylvania firm
The Navy is searching for metal used in submarines that fails to meet military specifications and was supplied by a Pennsylvania contractor who recently pleaded guilty to one count of major fraud against the U.S. government.

In a statement provided to The Day, the Navy called the fraud "calculated and widespread."

The search has so far cost the government more than $1.3 million, and the Navy said it may take years to determine the scope of the problem.

P. W. Sugg Boys Soccer Results (10/19/10)‏

Sugg's boys, even with their loss, showed great improvement in their
second meeting with Maranacook allowing half as many goals as before.
The Greyhounds faced possibly the toughest team in the league on the
frigid Tuesday evening and made Maranacook work for their goals but
Maranacook's seasoned talent prevailed solidly defeating the
Greyhounds 0-6. The Greyhounds' next bout will be when they travel to
Hall-Dale Thursday.

P.W. Sugg Middle School Girls Soccer results- 10/19‏

On Tuesday 10/19, Lisbon Sugg middle school girls’ soccer lost 4 x0 against Maranacook.

Goalie Alexandra Sult (second half), showed great improvement by coming out of the goal several times with great confidence to get the ball, blocking several shots and kicking the ball far from the defense when after making the saves. Capitan Kailyn Hill once more played with great hustle and solidity, kicking several balls out from Lisbon’s defense line.

Centre Forward Ashley Conrad had two breakaways but unfortunately could not finalize them. In spite of the final score, Greyhounds played a very good game, showing great improvement since the last time they played against Maranacook (Maranacook 11 x 0 Lisbon).

Lisbon Sugg middle school girls’ next game is Tuesday, 10/21 at 4:30 pm, an away game against Hall Dale

Now Comes Mortgage Contract FraudGate

Do you own a home, or at least think you do?
Do you pay a mortgage?  Have you had to refinance?  Do you know who holds your note now?

These are questions that will get answered in this article.  But more importantly, will explain how you have been taken.

The worst is yet to come; foreclosure fraud is the banksters' least problem

By Ed Martin

What this amounts to is that when you get a mortgage from a bankster and sign a note that says you owe that bankster the money the note says you do, when the bankster sells the note, as is, to another bankster, the note has been paid off by the second bankster and the second bankster has nothing that shows you owe him any money at all.

So, when a second bankster, or anyone else that you've never heard of, says to you that you owe them money, you say to them, "Show me the legal document, signed and notarized by you and me that says I owe you money. I know that there is no such note because I've never signed one and I've never acknowledged that I owe you anything, verbally or in writing. Judge Boyko has ruled on this, saying that any legal contract must be in writing, and you don't have one. I no longer owe the original note holder anything because you've paid off my original note, thank you very much. I now owe nobody anything. You've been sold a pig in a poke and I now own my house free and clear.

I have tried to show people why and how through my Road to Roota Letters and slowly but surely many have opened their eyes.

After watching this interview even the "non believers" will have a hard time arguing that the massively corrupt banking system can avoid the crash...

22.5% Is The Real Unemployment Rate In The United States

Just another example of something you won't find in the 'lame-stream' media.
"The official unemployment rate held steady at 9.6%, but the so-called underemployment rate, which includes labor-force dropouts and part-timers who would rather have a full-time job, surged to 17.1% from 16.7%. John Williams of Shadow Government Statistics—whose call for a negative payrolls number cited here was right on the money—further adjusts the underemployment rate to count folks who have been out of the labor force a year, who don't get counted among "discouraged workers" by the government. By his tally, true underemployment hit 22.5% in September, up from 22% in August, and a new high for the cycle but not one to crow over."

Great Comeback

OH HELL YEAH!
Love This Comeback !!!!!

One of my sons serves
in the military. He is still stateside, here in   California  . He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him and his troops everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands and thank them for being willing to serve and fight for not only our own freedoms,  but so that others may have them also.
But he also told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday on his way home from the base. He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha.
He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the
U.S. Flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly, 'Yes, I always wear it and probably always will.'

The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.

A gentleman standing behind my son stepped
forward.  Put g his arm around my son's shoulders and nodding towards my son, he said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman:

'Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid.'

Everyone within hearing distance   cheered!

IF YOU AGREE____ Pass this on to all your proud American friends.

I just did.....HELL YEAH

Oct 14th P.W. Girls Soccer results‏

On Tuesday 10/14, Lisbon Sugg middle school girls’ soccer played at home and lost 2 x1 against Gardner.
Even though Greyhounds’ defense was playing very well, the perfect wall pass made by Gardner’s forwards ended up in the Lisbon’s net. Gardner 1, Lisbon 0 that was the score of the first half. In the second half, when Lisbon was about to tie the game up, Gardner took advantage of a Lisbon’s defense mistake and scored their second goal. After that, Lisbon’s goal finally came, to chance the final score to Gardner 2x1 Lisbon.

Goalie Dakota Bisson did an outstanding job coming out of the goal several times with great confidence to get the ball. In two occasions she went out to face Gardner’s forward 1v1 and got the ball from the opponent’s feet in both.
Captain and Sweeper Kailyn Hill used once more her speed and good timing to get several balls out of the defense.
Left Midfielder Abby Gamache, who played her best game so far in this season, carried the ball many times from Lisbon’s defense to Lisbon’s attack, dribbling many opponents.

Offensive line kept showing great improvement by playing closer to each other and making several sharp passes, and Greyhounds’ striker Ashley Conrad once more delighted the public with her technique, and scored her 9th goal in this season kicking the ball over the Goalie from 25 yards of distance.

Greyhounds played their best game so far in this season, showing great improvement since the last time they played against Gardner (Gardner 10 x 0 Lisbon).

Lisbon Sugg middle school girls’ next game is Tuesday, 10/19 at 3:30 pm, an away game against Maranacook.

P. W. Sugg Boys Soccer Results (10/14/10)‏

It was a most exciting match up as the Greyhound's hosted Gardener's
finest hoping to better the 10 point loss they suffered the last go-
around. Improvement doesn't do justice for what fans saw on the brisk
Thursday afternoon as both teams fought eagerly for possession of the
ball. Gardner was only able to get a handful of shots on goal but
Keeper Eric Kane stopped every one including a penalty kick. Both
teams went scoreless until late in the second half when Gardner was
able to slip 3 fortunate goals past the tiring Sugg defense to defeat
the home team 0-3. The 2 & 5 Greyhounds will head to Maranacook for
their next game Tuesday October 14 as they face off again in what is
bound to be a challenging game.
