A Democratic political group funded by dark money nonprofits poured another six figures into a super PAC backing Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign last month, newly released financial disclosure records show.
Super PAC Fair Share Action donated $100,000 in March to Correct the Record, a super PAC coordinating directly with the Clinton campaign, according to a filing with the Federal Election Commission.
The donations were reported just a day after Clinton defended Super PAC support for her campaign at Thursday evening’s Democratic presidential debate.
Clinton likened that support to outside spending on President Barack Obama’s behalf, but experts say she has pushed the envelope further than any presidential candidate in the post-Citizens United era.

Watchdog: Agency policy leads staffers to destroy claims without reviewing them

Document shredding is a systemic problem at regional offices of the Department of Veterans Affairs, according to a watchdog report.
The VA inspector general found that staffers at a majority of regional offices that investigators visited last year improperly sent documents related to veterans’ claims to the shredder, a practice that the watchdog said is a “systemic issue” fueled by VA policy.
The report issued Thursday said that investigators conducted “unannounced inspections” at 10 regional offices after it was discovered last February that staffers at the VA’s Los Angeles office sent mail related to veterans’ claims to the shredder.
At six of the 10 regional offices, staffers improperly sent documents to the shredder without first putting the information in veterans’ claims folders. Sixty-nine of the 155 claims-related documents, or 45 percent, reviewed by investigators were incorrectly sent to the shredder. Two of the documents affected veterans’ benefits, and nine had the potential to do so. While the rest did not affect benefits, they were still required to be included in veterans’ claims folders before being destroyed.

In January19-year old Edwin Mejia killed 21-year old Sarah Root in a drunk driving accident. Mejia was arrested and appeared before a judge, where he was identified as an illegal alien. Immigration authorities had the option of having Mejia held because of his illegal status but chose not to because he “did not meet Immigration and Custom Enforcement’s (ICE) enforcement priorities” as laid out by the Obama administration. So, instead, Mejia agreed to a court mandated twice-a-day appointment to submit to a breathalyzer test and was released on his own recognizance. He hasn’t been seen since and is now on ICE’s “Most Wanted List.”

RECAP TOWN COUNCIL MEETING/WORKSHOP – APRIL 12TH
Last
night, the Town Council held a meeting/workshop. The meeting was held behind closed doors with
the Town Attorney in Executive Session.
When the session was over and they came out there were two motions made
and approved. What they are is hard to
tell, for sure, because Councilor Kolbe read a prepared statement from the
Attorney.
The
meeting was adjourned and the Council moved into a workshop to discuss the
School and Municipal Capital Improvement Plans.

Tracy Austin presented the School Municipal
Improvement 5-Year Plan.
2.
Edward Karass presented the Municipal
Improvement Plan.
3.
Next the following municipal department’s
budget proposal were discussed and not in this order.
a.
Administration
increased $999.00.
b.
Finance increased
$4,329.00.
c.
Town Clerk
increased $3,548.00.
d.
Codes increased
$2,357.00.
e.
Assessing
decreased $3,790.00.
f.
Economic
Development increased $11,327.00.
The
total increase for the entire Municipal Budget, by my figures, is
$676,878.00. My figures are different
than the Town Manager’s figure of $677,373.00 by $495.00.
Now
the real work begins!!!!

WHOSE A MEMBER OF THE “GOOD OLD BOYS NETWORK?
While Mrs. Gina Mason was a member of
the Town Council, her husband Mr. Rick Mason applied for a “Conditional Use”
permit to operate his excavation business from his residence at 312 Ridge Road,
Lisbon Falls, back in March 9, 2011. This Application was approved by the Planning
Board on March 24, 2011 by a vote of 4-0.
The problem with this
application is that it is for a temporary condition and this application has no
expiration date. How can you have a
temporary condition without an expiration date?
Next, if you look at the form there is nothing listed in the
“Conditions” block? Again, how is it
possible to have a Conditional Use permit with no conditions? It kind of defeats the whole purpose; doesn’t
it?

Ridge Road is zoned as Rural Open I, so there are limited businesses that can
operated legally in this zone.
Excavating is not one of them but under the Table of Land Use it can
operate on a “Temporary” base. I have
included a copy of the Land Use Table that applies.
The Planning Board approved this
application without an expiration date on a temporary condition and never
listed any conditions. I do not believe this document is legal.
Now,
Mr. Mason came to a Town Council meeting and wants to sell automobiles from his
property. This is strictly forbidden by the Comprehensive Plan, the zoning for
Rural Open I, and the Table of Land Use. However, being a member of the “Good Old
Boys” network apparently has advantages as demonstrated by the Planning Board
approval for his excavating business.
Are
we going to allow the “Good Old Boys” network to continue to violate our
Comprehensive Plan, Zoning and Table of Land Use just to make one of its
members happy? The town is opening
itself to law suits just to appease members of their network. There
goes ours legal fees!!!!
The
Town Council and the Planning Board should be held accountable to ensure the
Comprehensive Plan, our Zoning, and the Table of Land Use is enforced by our
Code Enforcement Officer. The Code
Enforcement Officer has to have the complete support of the town in order to do
his job.
This will protect the town from law suits.

“GOOD OLD BOYS” CONTINUE TO WASTE TAXPAYER DOLLARS!!
As you can tell, in order to change any zoning you must first change the Comprehensive Plan. All of the Town Ordinances must conform to the Comprehensive Plan. So why is Chairman Bickford directing the Planning Board to waste their time again when the town has already paid for a legal opinion. The Town Planner, Amanda Bunker, and the Planning Board have other things to concentrate on than reopening a dead issue just to satisfy some “Good Old Boy”. Is this really how the taxpayer wants to spent the Planner’s salary ($20,000)?
It is about time the “Good Old Boys” network stop doing illegal actions to make one of their members happy. Just think about what would happen if these “Good Old Boys” cared about the community instead of making their members happy regardless if they break the law or not. If the people have to go to court for these illegal acts, the town is going to lose. Who do you think is going to have to pay for the legal fees and any fines? It certainly is not going to be the “Good Old Boys.
It is time to finally put the issues on changing zoning on Route 9 to rest once and for all.

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen made the statement in response to a question from Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., during a session of the Senate Finance Committee about why the IRS appears to be collaborating with taxpayers who file tax returns using fraudulent information. Coats said that his staff had discovered the practice after looking into agency procedures.
“What we learned is that … the IRS continues to process tax returns with false W-2 information and issue refunds as if they were routine tax returns, and say that’s not really our job,” Coats said. “We also learned the IRS ignores notifications from the Social Security Administration that a name does not match a Social Security number, and you use your own system to determine whether a number is valid.”
