Letter From Building Materials Exchange

Hello Lisbon Reporter,

Could you please help us with this “interesting situation”? While we hope to be a statewide organization our warehouse is in Lisbon (the old Bradco Chair factory) and proximity allows Lisbon residents a significant advantage (if only they knew about us).

The mission of the Maine Housing and Building Materials Exchange (MHBME) is to benefit low income home owners and the environment by providing new and re-used building materials at an affordable price and by educating people about home repair.

Volunteers needed - Lisbon Area
Physical but rewarding….sort of like beating yourself on the head with a hammer because it feels so good when you stop. A warehouse used to store donated building materials has experienced great fortune and has not handled items in the most efficient way (short staffed, lots of stuff). We need to reorganize doors, windows, hardware, etc - mostly new and fascinating items. Great project for church groups, teams or families but there will be heavy lifting for at least 60% of the volunteers. Individuals also will be happily put to work.

Bonus - there are many items that we know will not be used by our target audience (low income Maine homeowners). You will have first crack at some great deals.
