TOWN OF LISBON, MAINE

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS TO CONSIDER

PROPOSED ORDERS TO APPROVE

1. GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND - $2,000,000

2. GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND - $500,000


Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of Lisbon, Maine will meet at the

Lisbon Community School, 33 Mill Street, Lisbon Maine
at 9:00 a.m. on February 28, 2009,

and again at the

Town Office, 300 Lisbon Street, Lisbon, Maine
at 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 3, 2009

to conduct public hearings to consider

(1) the adoption of an order to authorize the issuance and delivery of $2,000,000 of General Obligation Bonds of the Town to provide funding for public improvements to include:

  • reconstruction or improvements to public roads in Lisbon including Burrough, Bowdoinham, Fisher, King, Hudon, Pinewoods, River, Upland and Ferry Roads and Main Street;

  • acquisition of heavy equipment for public works including a Case front end loader, a Tenco dump body and a Ford truck body;

  • construction and maintenance of the Androscoggin River Trail in Lisbon for public recreation;

  • and for construction and maintenance of the Lisbon Public Works Building;

  • and other public capital improvements;

    and (2) the adoption of an order to authorize the issuance and delivery of $500,000 of General Obligation Bonds of the Town to provide funding for the development of the design of a grade 9 through 12 school construction project, to be submitted to the voters before construction, which design development shall include architectural, consulting and other pre-construction costs.

    The Bonds are to be sold to the Maine Municipal Bond Bank or such other purchaser or purchasers and on such terms as the Town Council shall approve. After the public hearings on March 3, 2009, the Council will act to approve or disapprove the orders authorizing sale of the respective Bonds before the questions are submitted to public referendum pursuant to Town Charter. The hearings and the meetings are open to the public to attend and comment. Signed written comments received by the Council before the public hearings will be considered.
