Frank Anicetti serves the world’s only Moxie
ice cream at the Kennebec Fruit Company in downtown Lisbon Falls, Maine.
For close to 40 years, Frank Anicetti has served the only
Moxie
ice cream found in the USA to thousands of people who come to the
Kennebec
Fruit Company store on the corner of Main Street and Route 196 in Lisbon
Falls,
Maine.
Frank’s
grandfather opened the general store in 1914 and five years later
started selling his own salt and ice method ice cream. By the time Frank took
over the store, fruit and vegetables were being slowly replaced by all
things
Moxie.
In
the mid 1970s, Frank perfected a Moxie ice cream recipe and now sells it
alongside his vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and black raspberry. As
40,000
people descend on Lisbon Falls for The Moxie Festival many will take
this
unique opportunity to delight in the taste of the nation’s only ice
cream
with Moxie.
The
Kennebec fruit Company is open seven days a week and family members will
join
Frank as he takes care of customers on Moxie Festival weekend.
The Moxie
Festival today includes a three day Pow Wow;
Friday night firework show; a Saturday parade, 5K race, and family fun
carnival; and on Sunday, the Chief Worumbo Androscoggin River race.
Moxie
was designated Maine’s official soft drink on May 20, 2005.
According to
Lisbon Public Safety Officials, an estimated
40,000 people attend the three-day Moxie Festival. The Town of Lisbon
has
approximately 9,300 residents.
