Budget Vote/Discussion Tonight

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL THE TAXPAYERS IN THE TOWN OF LISBON

TONIGHT, AT THE TOWN COUNCIL MEETING A VOTE WILL BE TAKEN TO ADOPT THE 2011-2012 TOWN BUDGET.

I HAVE ATTENDED ALL OF THE BUDGET MEETINGS AND WORKSHOPS, AND I STILL DO NOT KNOW JUST WHAT IS IN THE BUDGET.

WILL THEY BE ADDING ANOTHER OFFICER TO OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT?

AT A COST OF $60,000 +?

WILL THE TOWN BE HIRING A PRIVATE COMPANY TO TAKE CARE OF THE TOWN GARDEN SPOTS? AT A COST YET TO BE DETERMINED?

(I'M HEARING ABUT $65,000)

OR WILL THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT BE CONTINUING TO DO IT? WHO BY-THE-WAY HAS ALWAYS DONE A TERRIFIC JOB !

AT NO ADDED COST TO THE TOWN AND TAXPAYERS!

FAYE BROWN ASKED TOWN MANAGER ELDRIDGE THOSE QUESTIONS AT THE MAY 3RD PUBLIC HEARING, AND NEVER GOT AN ANSWER!

WILL THE TOWN ENGINEER BE TAKING OVER AS HEAD OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT?

IF SO, THIS IS A BAD IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WILL THE TOWN BE GIVING $10,000 WAGE INCREASES OVER 2 YEARS TO 10 TOWN DEPARTMENT HEADS?

SHOULD WE, THE TAXPAYERS, BE PAYING $5,500 FOR A TOWN EMPLOYEE TO TAKE PARALEGAL COURSES?

DID YOU KNOW, WE BUDGET $34,000 PER YEAR FOR LEGAL EXPENSES, YET SPEND TWICE THAT AMOUNT? EACH YEAR?

DOES THE OVERAGE COME OUT OF SURPLUS?

IF SO, WE WILL SOON BE RUNNING OUT OF SURPLUS

TOWN MANAGER IS PROPOSING SPENDING $320,000 OVER 4 YEARS FOR A TOWN REVALUATION AT $80,000 PER YEAR!

I HAVE NOT HEARD WHERE THE $80,000 FOR THIS FISCAL YEAR WILL BE COMING FROM. JUST WONDERING?

I ASK YOU, CITIZENS AND TAXPAYERS OF THE TOWN OF LISBON, THIS IS TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNMENT?

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE,

 ATTEND TONIGHT'S TOWN COUNCIL MEETING

7 P.M. AT THE TOWN OFFICE

LISTEN AND SEE FOR YOURSELVES HOW YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS VOTE!!!!!

WATCH THEM IN ACTION

THEN, ASK YOURSELVES, WOULD YOU VOTE FOR THEM AGAIN??????????

A FOOTNOTE:

THERE WILL BE A WORKSHOP WITH THE WATER DEPARTMENT TONIGHT AT 6 P.M., BEFORE THE COUNCIL MEETING

AT THE TOWN OFFICE. I URGE A MANY AS CAN TO ATTEND
