The PWS Greyhounds celebrated their 3rd victory with a solid 8-0
defeat over Winthrop's Middle School boys team on a pleasantly mild
Autumn afternoon. It was one of those games where the team, especially
the midfield, was able to find their rhythm, maintain control of the
ball, and develop numerous scoring opportunities. Winthrop fought like
warriors and demonstrated unwavering determination right to the end
while Lisbon managed a record 21 shots on goal. Scoring for the
'Hounds, the dependable midfielder Jake Angelico netted his second
goal for the season while Kyle Welsh and Nick Huston each put two into
the back of the net, and sharpshooter Austin Fournier got his second
hat trick this year. Rookie 'Hounds like Brandon Bartlett, Jared
Williams, and Jeremy Pelligrini did not disappoint either as they
denied Winthrop from even making a single shot on goal and thereby
marked the teams 2nd shutout. The [3-4] Greyhounds have finished the
first round of games and will next have their rematch with Gardner on
the opponents field, Thursday, October 13.
