On Tuesday 10/11, Lisbon Sugg Middle School girls’ soccer celebrated their
fourth victory in a row defeating Winthrop 2x0 on their turf. Defenders
Chandler Riordan, Sydney Douglas and Conchita Thomas kept the game in the
opponent’s field all the time allowing Goalie Ali Sult touch the ball only
twice the whole match. Emma Lavesque, Ciera Miller and Jordan Gamache also
helped the defense to keep Lisbon’s goal untouched.
Midfielders rocked the middle out, by repossessing the ball and making
several good passes to the forwards, including Abby Gamage, who also had a
good shot close to the end that almost ended up in the net, and Kipri Steele
who fought for the ball aggressively. Sam Buldoc, Anna Wiley, and Kashmir
Owen helped the middle as well.
Katherin George led the Offense line by carrying the ball skillfully and
scoring Lisbon’s two goals. Both were made by taking two powerful long
distance shots, giving the goalie no chance to touch the ball. Hope Morse
made good assists and created many opportunities at the goal, including a
crossed shot in the first half that almost ended up in the net. Makayla
Tilley played passionately in the attack and Emma Houle used her speed to
get to the goal line and assist her team mates.
Lisbon Sugg middle school girls soccer next game is on Thursday, 10/13/2011
against the powerful Gardiner, on their turf.
