Lisbon's Tax Bills, Can't Say We Didn't Try To Warn You, Now Enjoy Them!!!

LISBON’S TAX BILLS

By now, you all should have received your tax bills for the 2012-2013 periods.   As predicted your taxes have gone up yet again, however, the services you used to receive are going to be less during this period because the Town Office is going to be closed more along with other town facilities.

I hope we are not going to have a repeat of two years ago when 100s of citizens came to the Town Council meeting to complain to the town council.   The time to complain was back in May at the Public Hearing; not that it did any good.  The councilors did not listen to the few people who spoke out against the proposed municipal budget and the 2% wage increase for town employees.  The reason your taxes are on the rise is because these councilors do not listen to the people and they are not willing to cut spending.

The only way you are going to prevent your taxes from going up is to get rid of the current councilors starting with the November 2012 election.  These councilors have clearly demonstrated they cannot or are no willing to cut ridiculous spending.

Councilor Bowie was the driving force behind this budget and your tax increase.  Councilor Ward, who was elected as the champion of the elderly and individuals on a fixed income really took care of these citizens by going along with every one of Councilor Bowie’s recommendations.

In my view, Councilor Ward stabbed her constituents in the back by voting to support Councilor Bowie and by not standing up for the very people who believed in her.  I am singling her out ONLY because she was the last councilor elected.  The people had great hopes she would provide strong leadership instead of being a follower, oh well.  We all knew the rest of the council would support Councilor Bowie as they had done since becoming councilors.

It is time for a change on this council.  It will do absolutely no good to come and complain at the next town council meeting on September 4, 2012 because it is too late.  Your next opportunity to make a difference is in November.  If you want your taxes to continue to rise, then reelect Councilor Bowie, Pomelow and Lunt.  I will say this in defense of Councilor Lunt; he has on numerous occasions spoken out against Councilor Bowie and even voted not to support Bowie.  But there is no hope of stopping this madness unless Councilor Bowie is NOT reelected.

Councilor Bowie has not taken out his papers and I hope he does not but do not be surprised if he does at the last minute.  The election setup right now favors his reelection because there are several candidates seeking the position.  This means that the vote will be split several ways and will enable Councilor Bowie to be reelected.

I strongly believe there is no hope for this town if Councilor Bowie is reelected.  Councilor Bowie has clearly demonstrated he is the driving force behind this council and look at where it has gotten us.

VOTE THEM OUT IN NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree they need to be voted out of office, but who is willing to step up and make the hard decisions?
Who is running to replace these people?
