Hang In There Lisbon!

LISBON OR HICKSVILLE?????

There has been numerous and lengthy discussions about what can be done to make Lisbon more appealing.  The Economic Community Development Director, Scott Benson, has given numerous presentations to the Town Council and Town Manager on ideas to improve the appearance of the town.  Ross Cunningham, head of the Positive Change Lisbon, is working extremely hard to improve our town.  Scott Kelly is working hard to bring more businesses to the Kelly Park complex.  These are all projects with one purpose in mind and that is to improve the town of Lisbon.

Lisbon Town Council Chairman  Fern Larochelle

In this day and age, most people use the Internet to gather facts and information before actually driving to see them.  This brings me to the town of Lisbon’s web site and the outdated and useless information on it.  I have brought this to the attention of the Town Council and the Town Manager but as usual they do not want to hear anything I have to say; maybe someone else should bring it to their attention.

 Lisbon Town Manager Stephen Eldridge

According to the Town Manager, Mr. Eldridge, what I consider useless information might be important to someone else.  I agree totally with Mr. Eldridge but the “Home Page” is NOT the right place for information which has already taken place or the information has changed and is no longer valid.  These items should be move to a Historical Section of the town web site.  The “Home Page” is the very first thing a visitor reviews and it should never contain information that is outdated or no longer valid.  The “Home Page” should have current information to encourage visitors or residents to review more.

If the town cleaned up the garbage they currently have on the “Home Page”, there would have room for some encouraging news like the three new businesses in Lisbon (Barnies Variety, Village Street Café and Rages II Rich$).  Wouldn’t it be nice to have a link with pictures of the new business and even a menu of the food available to the Public?  This information would promote more businesses to come to Lisbon and make residents aware of what is now available.  The “Home Page” should contain the 2013-2014 proposed budgets and as it changes so should the “Home Page” so residents are informed as to what is going on with their tax dollars.

The town’s web site needs to be cleaned up and be just as appealing to visitors as the town is to people driving through.  The town’s web site is just as important as the physical appearance of the town.  Mr. Eldridge just does not get it because he continues to allow garbage to be published such as the 4th Quarter Managerial Report.  There are three months in each quarter of a calendar year; so where is October in the recently published 4th Quarter Managerial Report?  There are numerous other minor mistakes in the report which are an embarrassment to the town.  The people of Lisbon are paying Mr. Eldridge over $90,000 a year to be our Chief Administrative Officer and we get trash like this.  This report will end up on the Town Web Site for the whole world to see.

Welcome to Hicksville.  Hee Haw!!!!!!
