In Steve
Eldridges' November/December 2012 "Quarterly Report" just published
on the town's web-site, Mr. Eldridge says that the town established a
Finance Committee as there was no interest in people serving on the Budget
Advisory Board.
I served on that Committee for 2 terms and the only problem that I could see was one person, Norma Wells. Mrs. Wells was elected to the Budget Advisory Board in a write-in with maybe 3-4 votes, to serve for the fiscal year 2011/12. She accepted and was sworn-in. Mrs. Wells showed up, if memory serves me correctly, a total of two (2) meetings. She stayed for a total of perhaps 10-20 minutes, if that long.

Now, the same Norma
Wells has been appointed to the newly established Finance
Committee by Town Manager Eldridge and the Town Council to serve as a
regular member, term expiring June 30, 2016.
I wonder if she will
show up for the Finance Committee meetings?
Anyone but me think
that the Finance Committee was established, and members appointed by Town
Manager Steve Eldridge and the Town Council, so that the proverbial Fox can
guard the Proverbial Henhouse?

3713 taxpaying citizens voted for Mrs. Fitzgerald to be on the Budget Advisory Board to represent them. Yet the Town Council did not offer her a spot on this Finance Committee by default.
