payroll data for 2013 has been made public. Searching through the job
titles yielded some interesting finds. The state of Maine employs 8
“cartographers” for a cost to taxpayers of more than $371,000.
Departments with map makers include: Inland Fisheries and Wildlife,
Public Safety, Economic and Community Development, Conservation, and
