Middle School Girls Soccer, 10/18/12, PWS vs Winthrop‏

On October 18th of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls Soccer played against Winthrop at home and won 2x1 remaining undefeated for the fourth game in a row. Lisbon started behind on the score board after a goal snuck in during the first half but turned the game around by tying up the match at the end of the first half and scoring the winning goal in the second half.

Hound’s defense did not see a lot of action since most of the game was played on Winthrop’s side of the field, but when the ball came to their side they knew what to do. Stopper Sarah Daigle fought for every ball that passed the middle in front of our defense and Left Fullback Ciera Miller blocked the game in the left side. Sweeper Sydney Douglass kicked many balls away from our defense and even helped the offense by doing her awesome flip-throw-in.

The battle for the middle field was won by Lisbon’s warriors once more. Captain Chandler Riordan stepped in to put her foot on every ball that passed the middle, and Right Mid Amanda Storman played an excellent game stopping the game on her side and transporting the ball from the middle to the offense. Left Mid Jasmin Le played her best game of the season so far, disarming the opponent and shielding the ball until she could find a team mate to pass to.

Greyhound’s attackers worked hard to penetrate the congested rival’s defense and win the game. After trying over and over again in different ways, the goals finally came. Forward Conchita Thomas scored the first one by chipping the ball over the goalie executing a free kick close to the eighteen. The second goal, already in the second half, came when Striker Kipri Steele received a perfect assist from Left Wing Hope Morse and put the ball with class and precision in close to the right post. Right Wing Emma Houle also helped our offense playing fearlessly and making good crosses.

Lisbon Middle School Girls’ next game is on October 21st, facing Monmouth on their turf.

Middle School Boys Soccer Results, 10/18/12, PWS vs Winthrop‏

The PWS Greyhounds congratulated each other at the close of
their final home game, a flawless 3-0 shutout over the Winthrop
Ramblers. Every aspect of play was the 'Hounds at their best with
defenders like Sweeper Jake Fusaro taking loose balls from the
struggling Winthrop offense and initiating repeated counterattacks.
Ramblers could not help but feel the constant pressure from the
Greyhound offense that volleyed a whopping 22 shots on goal with
Striker Ryley Austin being the first to put one in the net followed by
Right Wing Dylan George, both before halftime. The last goal was
booted in by Left Wing Jonah Sautter assisted by a long through pass
by Stopper Josh Huston who, along with halfbacks like Dolan Shane and
Andrew Balser, kept the midfield well under control. The [3-5-2]
Greyhounds will seek another win as they take the road to face the
Monmouth Mustangs on October 22, the penultimate game of the season.

Middle School Boys Soccer Results, 10/15/12, PWS vs Gardiner

The PWS Greyhounds tasted victory a second time this season edging out the Gardiner Falcons in a well balanced match ending with a 4-3 score. Both teams stepped onto the field looking to dominate play but it was the rigorous Lisbon team who put one in the net first while keeping Gardiner scoreless. The second half was very different with each team responding back for each goal made keeping the score tight. One notable goal was that centered by Gardiner's Tristan Hebert from outside the box to the head of Cam Bourassa who popped it in for their second goal for the evening. Fired up Greyhound performers like Stopper Captain Josh Huston was able to repeatedly feed the ball to the Lisbon Offense who had seemingly limitless energy and kept advancing the ball deep into Falcon territory making achievements like Striker Ryley Austin's first hat trick possible with connections from Dylan George, Jonah Sautter, and Josh Huston. The [2-5-2] Greyhounds have their next game October 18, a home game vs Winthrop.

Middle School Girls Soccer Results, 10/15/12, PWS vs Gardiner‏

On October 15th of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls Soccer tied 0x0 with Gardiner at home and remained undefeated for the third game in a row.

Greyhound’s defense had their work cut out for them stopping the fast wings from Gardiner and keeping the ball away from our goal, including Stopper Sarah Daigle and Sweeper Sydney Douglass. Goalie Ali Sult showed confidence and skill by saving several shots from ending up in the net, four of them being powerful shots that could easily end up being a goal. Center Mid Chandler Riordan played aggressively in the middle to win most of the divided balls and even help our defense, and Right Mid Amanda Storman played tirelessly on her side to disarm the rival and carry the ball or pass it to our forwards. Lisbon’s offensive players tried hard to put the ball but were denied by the opponent time and time again. Left Wing Hope Morse, Right Wings Emma Houle and Conchita Thomas, and Striker Kipri Steele did everything right, passed the ball, dribbled past the opponent and shot on goal, but for some reason the ball just would not go in.

Lisbon Middle School Girls’ next game is on October 18th, receiving Winthrop at home.

PWS Middle School Cross Country‏

On October 11, 2012 Lisbon Middle School Cross Country runners had a great meet!  It was a great sunny day but the course had some incredible hills and many different types of terrain for this 1.8 mile course.  This did not slow down the determination of the runners.
Kailyn Le was the first Lisbon girl to come acrossed the finish line and finished strong in fourth overall with a time of 13:07.  Bailey Eveson finished strong with determination and Emily Chase had a great race with an awesome kick at the end keeping the runner coming up, behind her.

Josiah Kenney returning from an injury finished the race 2nd out of 41 runners also being the first Lisbon boy runner to cross the finish line with a time of 12:31.  Michael Schlotterbeck closing the gap between himself and Josiah came in third overall.  The next Lisbon runner to come in was Kyle Provencal with Silas Crosby and Mitchell Porter close behind.  Next for Lisbon finishing with determination was Geoffrey Shambarger and Jacob Brooks.
These ten runners have shown great determination as individuals and as a team.
Thanks,
Teresa Kenney

Middle School Girls Soccer Results, 10/10/12, PWS vs Hall Dale‏

On October 10th of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls Soccer sustained their second victory in a row defeating Hall Dale 3x1 at home. It was a rainy day, but the Hounds lit up the afternoon by displaying great passion and teamwork on the field.

Sweeper Sydney Douglass and Stopper Sarah Daigle played fearlessly and stopped almost every attempt from the opponent to get close to Lisbon’s goal. Left Fullback Ciera Miller kicked many balls out of the defense and rookie Zoe Feehan did a good job stopping the game in the right side. Center Midfielder Chandler Riordan played aggressively to win the middle for Lisbon, and Right midfielder Amanda Storman played remarkably; disarming the opponent, carrying the ball with confidence and making decisive passes to our forwards.

Greyhound’s offensive players amazed the public and their own coaches today. Like last game, they just did everything right. Everybody present enjoying watching Lisbon’s forwards passing the ball with precision and tenacity, dribbling past the opponent with confidence and strength and finding the end of the net. All three goals were in the first half; Right wing Emma Houle scored the first by taking advantage of her speed in a breakaway and putting the ball in net. The second one came when Striker Conchita Thomas dribbled past two defenders and crossed the ball in the far post, and the third goal came when Captain Chandler Riordan found a rebound at the eighteen and fired it back in the rival’s net.

Lisbon Middle School Girls’ next game is on October 15th, receiving Gardiner at home.

Lisbon Middle School X-Country (‏ (10-04-2012

Here are the results for the Phillip W. Sugg  Middle School Cross Country from Thursday, October 4, 2012

The rain did not stop these determined young runners on Thursdays(October 4, 2012) Cross Country meet at Cony High Shcool.  For the girls we had Kailyn Le and Emily Chase.  There was some tough competition for the girls and Kailyn Le pushed through the rain coming in fourth on this 1.9 mile course.  Emily had a great run and pushed through the mud and rain with determination.

During this 1.9 mile muddy run PWS had  Michael Schlotterbeck come in strong with his finish in 5th place.  Silas  Crosby and Kyle Provencal finished their race within seconds of each other not letting the rain get the best of them.  Though the rain was coming down heavy at times it did not stop Mitchell Porter, Geoffrey Shambarger, and Jacob Brooks from running their best for their team and for themselves to acheive personal goals set.  Although runner, Josiah Kenney, could not run due to an injury it did not stop him from supporting his team at the meet by encouraging his teammates to run their best through the rain.

Thank you,

Middle School Girls Soccer Results, 10/03/12, PWS vs Cony‏

On October 3rd of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls Soccer played against Cony at home and won 4x0. It was a rainy afternoon and the Hounds displayed great individual talent and teamwork to overcome the difficulties of a muddy field and do everything right.

Defense played passionately to control the few attempts of the adversary to get close to our goal. Most of the game was played on Cony’s part of the field, but our fullbacks knew how stop the opponent’s forwards when necessary, including sweeper Sydney Douglass, stopper Sarah Daigle, left fullback Ciera Miller and right fullback Zoe Feehan. Right fullback Emma Lavesque and left fullback Emily McIntosh also helped our defense to keep the shutout.

Lisbon won the battle for the middle. Centre midfielder Chandler Riordan played with aggressiveness to win the air balls and disarm the rival in the middle. Rookie Amanda Storman played her best in the season so far, fighting for every ball in the middle and making excellent passes to our forwards. Right midfielder Jasmin Le and left Midfielder Anna Willey also played tirelessly in the middle to help Lisbon win the battle.

Hounds offensive line just did everything right today. They did everything we practiced during the week in the game. During the whole game they displayed confidence, precision and effectiveness. Right wing Conchita Thomas played boldly and scored two goals. The first one, still in the first half, by dribbling past two defenders and crossing the ball from the right to the far post, and the second one, in the second half, by taking a shot from the eighteen after receiving a precise assist from left wing Kelsea Tilley. Left wing Hope Morse scored Hound’s second goal, in the second half, by crossing the ball from the left to the far post after fighting for a rebound inside the box. The fourth goal came when left wing Hope Morse and right wing Emma Houle decided to show how in tune they are with each other: square ball from Hope to Emma, through ball from Emma back to Hope, shot in goal by Hope blocked by the goalie, rebound found by Emma, who was following the line of the ball, that ended up in the net.

As Lisbon’s coach, I saw today all I want to see my team doing on the field.

Lisbon Middle School Girls’ next game is on October 4th, receiving Gardiner at home.

Middle School Boys Soccer Results, 10/03/12, PWS vs Cony‏

The PWS 'Hounds tasted victory for the first time this season
after their (2-1) rematch against the formidable Cony Rams. The
Greyhounds stepped onto their home field under what could be
considered ideally wet conditions ready for anything while the
confident Rams looked for their second win against Lisbon. While
Fullbacks like Captain Josh Huston limited Cony to a mere 5 shots on
the home goal, Halfbacks like Stevie Martin were working their
Greyhound tails off, keeping the ball advancing for attack after
vicious attack. It was nothing less than a total team effort that
allowed the exceptional 16 shots on the opponents goal. Left Winger
Jonah Sautter was the first to score off of an excellent center from
Right Winger Dylan George early in the second half. Several minutes
later, Cony Forward Nate Parlin tied it up slipping one past Keeper
Bryant Hall. Then with just 3 minutes left in the game Striker Ryley
Austin put in the final goal for the win.
The [1-4-2] Greyhounds will welcome Gardiner to Lisbon for
teams' second bout on Thursday, October 4.

Middle School Boys Soccer Results, 10/01/12, PWS vs Richmond

In an energetic match that had both teams working from beginning to
end, the PWS Greyhounds found themselves again with a 0-4 score
against the visiting Richmond team. Both teams showed increased skill
and determination since their last face off but only Richmond was able
to put the balls in the net. The first goals slipped by at 8 and 23
minutes into the game with the other 2 getting in just before the end
of each half for the Richmond victory. As always the Greyhounds played
admirably making the opponents fight for every bit of turf. The
[0-4-2] Greyhounds will welcome Cony to Lisbon for a rematch on
Wednesday, October 3.

Game Result Girls Soccer PWS Middle School x Richmond‏

On October 1st of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls Soccer played against Richmond at home and lost 1x0. It was an even match, both teams went back and forth, Greyhounds played an awesome game and showed a huge improvement from the last game against Richmond when the score was 0x7 for Richmond.

Defense did an awesome job stopping the skilled and aggressive Richmond forwards and keeping the ball away from our goal. The game was played mostly in Lisbon's defense, so our fullbacks had to work hard till the end of the game to keep the opponent from scoring more goals, including Captain Chandler Riordan and stopper Sarah Daigle, left fullback Conchita Thomas and right fullback Sydney Douglass. Hound's goalie Ali Sult did an excellent job defending many shots and even stopping a penalty kick.

Midfielders did their best to disarm the opponent and connect with our forwards. The game was played fast in the middle, and Hound's midfielders ran back and forth trying to make a difference, including center midfielder Amanda Storman, who almost score a goal, left midfielder Kelsea Tilley and right midfielder Jasmin Le.

Lisbon's forwards worked together and created some nice and clear opportunities to score. In this match, unfortunately none of them ended up in the net, but it is encouraging to think what they will do in the next games. Left wing Hope Morse gave two precise assists, right wing Emma Houle used her speed to carry the ball in the right side and make passes to her team mates and striker Kipri Steele articulated the ball very well trying to find an opportunity for a clear shot and making Richmond's defense work a lot.

Lisbon Middle School Girls' next game is on October 3rd at home, in a rematch vs. Cony.

GameSummary_September27th2012-PWS Girls x Maranacook‏

On September 27th of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls Soccer played against Maranacook on their field and lost 2x1. Lisbon dominated the entire match but unfortunately let Maranacook win the game in the last two minutes.
Defense kept a wall up most of the game, left fullback Sydney and right fullback Conchita Thomas did a good job closing the side lanes and not allowing the opponent to play through the sides, and center fullback Chandler Riordan and Stopper Sarah Daigle did not allowed the play to get close to our goalie, except for a free kick and penalty kick two minutes to the end.

“You guys are losing the battle for the middle,” said Maranacook’s coach, and he was right, Lisbon won the battle for the middle. The ball would bounce once in the middle and then end up on one of our midfielder’s feet, and from their feet to one of our forward’s feet. Our warriors in the middle were right midfielders Jasmin Le, rookie center midfielder Amanda Storman and left midfielder Anna Willey.

Like Hounds last games, our forwards created many goal situations. They are really getting used to playing with each other and having fun playing together. It was rewarding to see so many good passes between them and several clear situations of goal. As a result of this good work, Hounds’ center forward Kipri Steele, not giving up and playing the miss of the opponent, had a breakaway and put the ball in the net chipping the ball with her left leg over the goalie.

Lisbon Middle School Girls’ next game is on October 1st at home, against Richmond.

Middle School Boys Soccer Results, 9/26/12, PWS vs Maranacook‏

PW Sugg's Greyhounds held their heads high after they valiantly fought
the toughest team in the league losing (0-9) to Maranacook on the
opponents field. Maranacook consistently brings a tough game to the
field and this one was no exception. Still the indomitable spirit of
the PWS Greyhounds was ever visible in players like Jonah Sautter and
Jacob Fusaro who demonstrated the true grit that was a common trait of
the 'Hounds on the field. The PWS boys will have some good time to
rest and regroup as they focus on their rematch against Richmond on
Monday, October 1 with a home field advantage.

Middle School Boys Soccer Results, 9/26/12, PWS vs St. Mikes‏

Lisbon spectators got to see their PW Sugg Greyhound's at their best
yet as they watched their home team battle it out in a scoreless nail-
biter against the Saints of St. Mike's. The Saint's Goalie had no less
than 20 shots fired in his vicinity by Ryley Austin, Brad Boulet,
Jonah Sautter, Andrew Balser, and Dylan George, who all had the net in
their crosshairs but the outstanding keeper would not allow a single
one to find the back of the net. Lisbon did celebrate their first
shutout this season due to defenders like Reece Rustad, Brandon
Bartlett, and Chase Santos who repeatedly broke off attacks while
'Hounds like Josh Huston and Jake Fusaro kept the middle clear and the
ball heading back into Saint territory. With no down time the [0-2-2]
Greyhounds must head to Maranacook Thursday, September 27 as their
quest for a victory continues.

GameSummary_September26th2012-PWS Girls x St. Mikes‏

On September 26th of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls Soccer played their first home game and won
6-0 against St. Mikes.
Hounds’ defense kept the danger away from our goal the whole game, especially during the second half when Lisbon’s goalie Ali Sult touched the ball just three times. Center fullback Sydney Douglass lead the defense in this shut out followed by stopper Sarah Daigle, left fullback Ciera Miller, and right fullbacks Emily McIntosh and Zoe Feehan.

The Greyhounds won the battle for the middle field. They played aggressively to steal the ball from the opponent and make good passes to our offensive players, including center midfielder Chandler Riordan, left midfielders Anna Willey and Amanda Storman, and right midfielders Jasmin Le and Carly Drischler.

Forwards had their best game of the season so far. They made good passes, sharp assists and killer shots to put the ball in the net six times. Center forward Kipri Steele scored two, both of them using her right foot to place powerful shots from the eighteen. Left forward Hope Morse scored three, all of them passing dribbling the opponents’ right defender and taking a cross shot from the left to the far post. Right forward Conchita Thomas scored Lisbon’s last goal by putting the ball in the far post from the right after dribbling past St. Mikes left fullback.

Lisbon Middle School Girls’ next game is on September 27th, against Maranacook on their field.

Middle School Boys Soccer Results, 9/20/12, PWS vs Gardiner‏

Lisbon's Greyhounds held their heads high after denying a Falcon
win in Gardiner in a 1-1 wet-ball match. Gardiner's boys nimbly worked
the ball through a stunned Lisbon defense and slipped one into the
goal just 49 seconds into the game. The 'Hounds response to that was,
"no more". Not a single goal more did Gardiner make in the game. The
Lisbon offense on the other hand was gaining confidence and ability in
keeping the ball deep in enemy territory. 22 minutes into the second
half, a foul with the opponents 18 set Lisbon up for a PK which was
taken by Striker Ryley Austin who put it in the net to mark the
'Hounds first goal this season. Determination was visible all over the
PW Sugg team as seen in Fullbacks Brandon Bartlett and Reece Rustad
who broke off several Falcon attacks returning the ball upfield for a
counter-strike while the speed of players like Jonah Sautter and Dylan
George on each wing kept the Gardiner defense on their toes.
The [0-2-1] Greyhounds have just a day preparation for their
next bout on Wednesday, September 26 against St. Mike's on a Lisbon
home field.

GameSummary September24th 2012 - PWS Girls x Gardiner‏

On September 24th of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls Soccer lost with Gardiner 1 x 0 on their field.
Greyhounds showed superior, dominating ball possession and created several opportunities to score. Gardiner attacked Lisbon a few times in the first half and four times in the second half. Gardiner knew how to take advantage of one of the four attacks and score the only goal of the match.

Captain Chandler Riordan, center fullback Sarah Daigle and left fullback Sydney Douglass played firmly to stop every attack by Gardiner in the first half, and keep the game on the opponent’s field the vast majority of the second half, missing just one ball which the opponent took advantage of. Center midfielder Kipri Steele played tirelessly winning the middle and joining the offensive line when Lisbon was attacking. Right midfielder Jasmin Le and left midfielder Anna Willey helped Kipri in the midfield.

Our offensive line had countless opportunities to score, but unfortunately just could not finish it. Striker Conchita Thomas controlled the ball well, dribbling past many adversaries and had several shots on goal that were close, but for some reason never ended up in the net. Left forward Hope Morse gave a perfect assist to Conchita and another to right forward Emma Houle, who could not finish it either.

Lisbon Middle School Girls’ next game is on September 26th, against St. Mikes on Hounds’  field.

GameSummary_September20th2012-PWS Girls x Cony‏

On September 20th of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls Soccer obtained their first victory of the season defeating Cony 3 x 0 on their field.

Greyhounds' defenders knew how to stop the opponent's offense the whole match. During the first half Cony just had a few chances to get close to Lisbon's goal, and during the second half the game was played completely on Conys' side of the field. Captain Chandler Riordan played passionately and kicked many balls out of the defense. Left fullback Sydney Douglas, center fullbacks Emma Lavesque and Sarah Daigle, and left fullback Emily McIntosh helped to nail down the defense.

Center midfielder Kipri Steele rocked out the middle field. She regained ball possession many times and did an excellent job connecting the game with the offense line. Right midfielder Jasmin Le and Left midfielders Anna Willey helped Kipri to win the battle for the midfield.

Hounds' forwards displayed individual talent and teamwork to score Lisbon's first goals of the season. The first came in the first half when left midfielder Amanda Storman found a rebound close to the eighteen and put it in the net. Right away, Center forward Kelsea Tilley, also found a rebound from a free kick, touched the ball before Cony's goalie and scored Hounds' second goal. To top it all off, striker Conchita Thomas, from outside the box, fired a missile from the right side all the way to the left goal post, going over the goalie and ending up in the net. Left forward Hope Morse also participated in the offense giving sharp passes and a precise assist to right forward Emma Houle, who unfortunately could not finish it.

Lisbon Middle School Girls' next game is on September 24th, visiting Gardiner.

Middle School Boys Soccer Results, 9/20/12, PWS vs Cony‏

PW Sugg's Boys' record slipped to [0-2] after a vigorously
fought battle against the Cony Rams. The tone was set early on with
unrelenting Ram offender Nate Parlin sneaking one past the Greyhound
Goalie just four minutes into the game. Lisbon defenders Jake Fusaro
and Josh Huston effectively shut him down and kept the remaining Cony
offense at a distance until much later in the second half when Justin
Coull made the only other goal in the game ending 0-2. Cony did make
other attempts including a well placed chip shot that would have gone
in had it not been for the sure handed Keeper Bryant Hall who
valiantly rose to the challenges presented by the tenacious opponents.
The Greyhounds never gave up in the quest to penetrate the solid Ram
defense. One tense moment in the second half was when Striker Ryley
Austin, on a PK, fired on goal low and left only to be deflected by a
very able Cony Keeper.
The 'Hounds will hit the road Monday, September 24, as they seek
their first win of the season against Gardiner.

Girls Game Summary September 18th, 2012‏

On September 18th of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls Soccer played their first game against Richmond and lost 7x0. It was very windy and rainy, and Richmond knew how to dominate the game, use the individual talent of their players, and score the goals.

The Greyhounds defense did their best trying to keep the fast and skillful opponents’ offense from scoring more goals, including Captain Chandler Riordan, Left Fullback Sydney Douglass, and Goalie Ali Sult, who blocked ten shots. Center Midfield Kipri Steele was all over the field, fighting for ball possession in the Middle and connecting with Hounds’ offensive line. Lisbon Forwards tried hard to create goal opportunities, and even had a few chances to put the ball in the net, but unfortunately they could not take advantage of them, including a penalty kick missed by Centre Forward Conchita Thomas.

Lisbon Middle School Girls’ next game is on September 20th, facing Cony on their turf.
