On September 18th of 2012 Lisbon Middle School Girls
Soccer played their first game against Richmond and lost 7x0. It was very windy
and rainy, and Richmond knew how to dominate the game, use the individual
talent of their players, and score the goals.
The Greyhounds defense did their best trying to keep the
fast and skillful opponents’ offense from scoring more goals, including Captain
Chandler Riordan, Left Fullback Sydney Douglass, and Goalie Ali Sult, who
blocked ten shots. Center Midfield Kipri Steele was all over the field,
fighting for ball possession in the Middle and connecting with Hounds’ offensive
line. Lisbon Forwards tried hard to create goal opportunities, and even had a
few chances to put the ball in the net, but unfortunately they could not take
advantage of them, including a penalty kick missed by Centre Forward Conchita
Thomas.
Lisbon Middle School Girls’ next game is on September 20th,
facing Cony on their turf.
