Damariscotta Pumpkinfest and Regatta



DAMARISCOTTA PUMPKINFEST AND REGATTA    

 WHEN: Oct. 2 through Oct. 11.
WHERE: Various locations in Damariscotta, Newcastle and Nobleboro.
HOW MUCH: Most events free.
FOOD OPTIONS: Area restaurants will be preparing and selling pumpkin-centric menus. Area groups will also be selling from outdoor booths.
PARKING: Parking and shuttle available on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9-10, at Lincoln Academy parking lot and Great Salt Bay School. Maine Eastern Railroad train service between the festival and Brunswick.
DON'T MISS: The pumpkin chunkin rivalry on Saturday; Sunday's pumpkin boat regatta; and Monday's pumpkin drop.
KID-FRIENDLY FACTOR: They'll have a hard time deciding what they liked best: the hands-on carving and games or those monster pumpkins being dropped onto targets.
BENEFIT: Event proceeds benefit Pumpkinfest. Giant pumpkin sponsorships benefit area nonprofit organizations -- chosen by the growers -- and Pumpkinfest. Pumpkin Drop raffle tickets raise money for the Lincoln County Energy Heating Fund.
IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER: The Pumpkinfest goes on.
