LISBON — The local Police Department is participating in the annual Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign now through the Labor Day holiday weekend.
The department is one of 40 Maine law enforcement agencies involved i the program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Locally, a total of 14 officers will conduct patrols during this period. As of Thursday, the department has conducted 15 special enforcement patrols resulting in six arrests.
A $5,000 grant from the Bureau of Highway Safety will pay for up to 150 hours of patrols. The Lisbon department has successfully participated in the national program for more than 10 years, Chief David Brooks said.Read the rest of the story by clicking on the following link.
