Contest Coordinator Julie-Ann Baumer gets ready for celebrity judges at
the contest’s new venue, Chummy’s Midtown Diner in Lisbon and new day,
Friday evening of the Moxie Festival weekend (July 12-14).
The Moxie Festival Committee is pleased to
announce that the Moxie Festival Recipe Contest will move to Friday
night at Chummy’s Midtown Diner in Lisbon and will feature celebrity
judges and wicked cool prizes.
Judging will take place from 5 pm until 7 pm. The celebrity judges include Maine Restaurateur Linda Bean; Creator of Jam, Jellies (including Moxie) and Sauces Sharon Bissonette; Famous Whoopie Pie Creator Amy Bouchard; Yankee Chef Jim Bailey; and
Author Jim Baumer.
Recipe contest entrants need to register at the Moxie Festival web site by July 2nd and the first 25 entrants will receive Moxie “swag bags.”
Entries can be in the following categories:
• Moxie Savory (entrees, casseroles, main dishes, meat creations)
• Moxie Sweet (all manner of desserts)
• Moxie Kitchen Sink (everything else, i.e. salad dressings, marinades, dips)
According
to Lisbon Public Safety Officials, over 50,000 people attend the
three-day Moxie Festival. The Town of Lisbon has approximately 9,300
residents.
Since
1982, The Moxie Festival in Lisbon, Maine has been held on the second
weekend in July. The Festival now includes a three day Pow Wow; Friday
night fireworks and Moxie Recipe Contest; a Saturday parade, Moxie Day
5K Race, Moxie Day ATV Charity Ride, and Family Fun Fair; and on Sunday,
the Chief Worumbo Androscoggin River Race and the Moxie Car Show.
Moxie was designated Maine’s official soft drink on May 20, 2005.
