"Marden's parts ways with "Marden's Lady"

SCARBOROUGH (WGME) --A Maine chain is cutting ties with one of the best-recognized commercial characters on Maine TV.
She's best known as the "Marden's Lady," but the company decided in January to not renew her contract.

Karmo Sanders says shes been acting as Birdie Googins in Marden's commercials for more than five years. The company told her they would be taking a new direction in Maine.

Sanders said at the time she didn't want to publicly say anything until Marden's announced the split, but the company never mentioned it and now Sanders is explaining why the future is bright for Birdie.
