WASHINGTON POLITICAL GAMES WILL NOT SOLVE HEALTH CARE

LEVESQUE: WASHINGTON POLITICAL GAMES
WILL NOT SOLVE HEALTH CARE

Bangor, ME (Nov. 10, 2009) – Rep, Mike Michaud failed Maine people by voting for a bill which he says he “finds problematic” instead of standing up for what is right, said Maine 2nd Congressional District candidate Jason J. Levesque.
Levesque responded to statements Michaud made Tuesday morning on a Bangor radio station where the congressman said he actually thinks the House bill shortchanges Maine. Michaud says he told President Obama of his concerns yet voted for the bill when it came up on the floor Saturday night.

“Congressman Michaud’s job is to represent the people of Maine.  However, by his own admission, he knows this is bad for Maine taxpayers, bad for seniors and bad for the quality of healthcare but voted for it anyway because he was told to.  This is a breach of trust the people of the 2nd District gave him when they hired him for this job and he should be held accountable,” Levesque said.

Levesque said Maine senior citizens will suffer because $500-billion is taken away from Medicare and two-thirds of seniors are dropped from Medicare Advantage in order to pay for the House health plan. The State of Maine loses $800-million with the bill which Michaud supported.

“That’s especially harmful in our state which has one of the oldest populations in the country,” Levesque said.

On the radio station Tuesday morning, Michaud admitted that Maine suffers from the Medicare cuts in the bill but he trusted Washington insiders’ promises that he can present his case later.

“That’s ridiculous! It should have been a non-starter and Mike Michaud should have held firm that if his vote was so important then they should put it in writing. Instead, he sold out the people of Maine,” Levesque said.

Michaud did not stand up and speak out in floor debate about the problems in the bill, he didn’t take his case to the people to explain why this bad bill hurts them and he should oppose it, he didn’t use his meetings with the President or the Speaker to get needed changes in the bill benefiting Maine people.  The bill passed by only five votes and 39 fiscally-conservative Blue Dog Democrats voted against it.

“Mike Michaud proved he’s not really a Blue Dog but a Lap Dog for Nancy Pelosi and the big government wing of his party. He admitted as much on the radio this morning that he failed the working families, senior citizens and small business people of Maine,” Levesque said.
Levesque said the bill does nothing to contain health care costs and is a giant government power grab.
“The bill doesn’t reform anything and will cost at least $1.4-trillion over its first ten years. We can’t trust the government to hold to that figure when we see its prior track record. We can’t afford the Washington way of waste, fraud and abuse to take over our health care system too,” he said.
Levesque said the House bill hurts working families and small business people by adding billions of dollars in new taxes and imperiling employment with the impact of 5.5-million lost jobs.
“This is unconscionable when the 2nd District reels from double-digit unemployment and Mike Michaud’s hometown, Millinocket, has one of the highest rates in the country at 14.5-percent,” he said.
Levesque said the House bill will actually make it more expensive and difficult for small business people to provide coverage.
“As a businessman, I’m personally affected by this plan from Washington. Instead of making it easier for small business people to do the right thing for their employees, Congress is making it more difficult,” he said.

Levesque said health care reform could be achieved with a far less-expensive plan which would:
 - Open up insurance markets to sell coverage across state lines and give small businesses and the self-insured a chance to shop for lower rates. Today, purchasers are legally-barred from comparison shopping for the best rates out-of-state.
- Take serious steps to reform the legal system which adds to costs by forcing doctors to practice preventative medicine with unnecessary and expensive procedures just to avoid frivolous lawsuits. Trial lawyers have managed to kill every attempt at consumer protection through tort reform.
- Keep hands off Medicare instead of reducing payments to doctors, causing many elderly to lose access to health care options and specialized coverage.
- Create medical school incentives to bring more health practitioners to rural areas.
- Encourage competition in the health insurance industry instead of creating a government insurance company with an unfair competitive edge, which will eventually end private insurance and drive up costs with a new government bureaucracy running health coverage.
- Allow people to keep the coverage they now have and do not prohibit the choice of insurer when one changes jobs or starts a business.
- Provide incentives to employers to invest in wellness programs which make employees healthier and more productive while reducing their need for expensive health treatments. This comes at a cost which is too expensive for many small employers unless they get tax incentives.
- Create real cost containment by empowering health care consumers to make wise decisions of how they spend health care dollars through full health service pricing disclosure in a clearly understandable manner.

We still have a chance to force our Congressman to do what is right and voting no on the final bill. He has already put politics before people; let’s tell him, it’s the people that come first.  We need health care reform, but we need reform that will actually reduce costs, increase access for those in rural areas and maintain the high quality of care we have come to appreciate,” Levesque told the Maine Federation of Republican Women meeting in Bangor on Tuesday.

Lisbon School Committee Approves Green as Superintendent

Rick Green, Lisbon’s Superintendent of Schools
Article and photo by Monica Millhime

Lisbon – On Monday, November 9, the Lisbon School Committee rescinded the Interim Superintendent status and approved Richard Green as Superintendent of the Lisbon School Department for the 2009-2010 school year.  “Mr. Green is a skilled educational leader,” comments Prudence Grant, Chair of the Lisbon School Department.    “He has worked with others to create a foundation for our efforts to become an even higher performing and more efficient organization.  Mr. Green easily met the demands of the Interim position which he had assumed on July 1, 2009 after having been appointed by the Lisbon School Committee on April 13th of this year.”
As part of the new Lisbon School Department superintendency which involves one third curriculum time, Green has focused on areas of the curriculum and establishing communication with existing curriculum teams. It is the intention of the School Committee and Green that both the curriculum foundation and the framework which have already been laid will continue seamlessly into next year.
“Communication and involvement have been very important during this time of change and transition.  Green has met with various staff, teams and work groups from administrators, central office staff, teachers, nurses and support staff, custodians, bus drivers and cafeteria workers in an effort to familiarize himself with the unique contributions each group makes to the Lisbon School System. Those strategies made the start of the school year a smooth event,” according to Grant.
“In the time since Green’s appointment in April, he has been thinking creatively and outside the box,” shares Grant.  “So far his ideas have been visionary and exciting.  He has brought the various groups together and improved morale.  Because of all those qualities and efforts and because his first evaluation has been completed, the School Committee believed there was no reason to extend the Interim title beyond this month.”

Bush is responsible for everything?‏

Sat 11/07/09 9:06 PM

Earlier today Obama addressed the problem of the unemployment rate in excess of 10.% by , for the umpteenth time, blaming the condition of the Economy on the Republican Party,    when the Democrats took over. Later on this afternoon, the wicked witch of the West, Pelosi, bragged about the fact that this is the 3rd Anniversary of Democrats taking control of the House and Senate.

So, for  three years they did not see what was coming or did nothing if they did? Pres. Bush couldn't  do anything  on his   own, since the Democrats controlled everything and this includes Obama, who was a Senator  for two years prior to the election..It's like for two years, the Democrats were running around blindly, enjoying their position as the leaders and partying until Obama came in and all eyes woke up and said: What  did they do to the World why we were partying? It's all their fault.

Now! we are here and will restore everything. Spend these trillions  of dollars  and go to the wedding party of Obama and the Unions.  The Dem's  are ruining our childrens future with a Health Plan, they won't participate in.

For two elections in a row, friends of Obama have threatened people at the voting booths.

As a start, I pray this terrible Health  Bill fails, then we can start our Plans to kick out  of office all of these corrupt bodies, calling them , human beings, would be a disservice to the rest of us
.

We the People are coming

The following letter read on Glenn Beck's show, is rapidly circulating
around the country. Americans everywhere identify with this 53-year-old
woman. She has given us a voice. Once you read this, you will want to
forward it to all of your friends...

GLENN BECK: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona . She writes an open
letter to our nation's leadership:

"I am a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my
life.
Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican
because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or
works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the
Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important
to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or
representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the
issues important to me.
Instead, we are burdened with Congressional Dukes and Duchesses who
think they know better than the citizens they are supposed to represent.

There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and
tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our
Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now.
You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would feel so
horribly disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of
nut-job am I? Well, these briefly are the views and issues for which I
seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants
and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence
and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been
there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I'm not a racist. This is not to
be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the STIMULUS bill. I want it repealed and I want no further funding
supplied to it. We told you No, but you did it anyway. I want the
remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars. I want the circumvention of our constitutional checks and
balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government
officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on
our Constitution, and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There are
many conflicting opinions and it is too soon for this radical
legislation.
Quit throwing our nation into politically-correct quicksand.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive
decision that will burden me, my children, and grandchildren. Don't you
dare try to pass this in the middle of the night without even reading
it.
Slow down!  Fix only what is broken -- we have the best health care
system in the world -- and test any new program in one or two states
first.

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty
fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. More is not
better! Shrink it down. Mind your own business.  You have enough to take
care of with your real [Constitutional] obligations. Why don't you start
there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our
2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory
escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal
that closes -- how did they pull that one off?  Stop the funding to
ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I
do not trust them with taking the census with our taxpayer money. I
don't trust them with any of our taxpayer money. Face up to the
allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any
more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck,
hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the
people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is
mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have
because they gave me jobs -- and that is the only redistribution of
wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person! Why do
you want me to hate my employers? And what do you have against
shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor
person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local
communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent
and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Every company must sink or swim
like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we'll be better off
just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful.
(Have you ever ripped off a Band-Aid?) We will pull together. Great
things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to
innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how
about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have
some straight honest talk. Please stop trying to manipulate and appease
me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for.
Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your
friends.
It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding
things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.
Take a breath. Listen to the people. Slow down and get some input from
nonpoliticians and experts on the subject. Stop making everything an
emergency. Stop speed-reading our bills into law. I am not an activist.
I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a
violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy.  I am
busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care
of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families,
pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure
our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on
the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and
teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the
free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the
checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened?
You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the
hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill
that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not.
It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a
slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I
feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own
life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust
you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We
did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could.
I am sure that we still cannot. There is needless urgency and
recklessness in all of your recent spending of our tax dollars.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also
know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel
that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it
to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by
us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put
our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We
will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children,
any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend
on bringing our concerns to Washington . Our president often knows all
the right buzzwords like unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens
of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that
word? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we're
morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we
want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done.
You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we
are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented.. You think
we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the
formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work, pay taxes, obey
the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone... and we
are now looking at you.
You have awakened us, the patriotic freedom spirit so strong and so
powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far.
Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who
will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike
you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured.
They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office.
We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We
will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will
flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off.
We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or
you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among
us who will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our
constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We
don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us Patriotic Americans
are willing to do right by us and our Constitution, and that is all that
matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and
seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We
entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are
dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to
us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency
loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you
will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political
parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them.. Because we will get
you fired and they will not save you.

If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up.
Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak
up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be
herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn
congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you?
Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are
coming. We the people are coming.

Hey what do you think of this idea?

Problem posed:  Find a way to have people use the stairs instead of the escalator.  It's healthier.  Be as creative as you want.

AMERICAN WORKERS --- WAKE UP !!‏

One of the big mistakes leaders of our American labor unions made in the last November elections, and is still making, by supporting the Pelosi health care bill in the House of Representatives was that they were cutting off their nose to save their face.

Last November they thought they were supporting “change”. Little did they know that the “change” they were supporting would eventually come back to bite them in the tail board ..... big time.

Let's take a look at what is in store for the American union worker if the public option part of the Pelosi health care bill, which the president forced upon his own party members in the House of Representatives, eventually comes to fruition.

If you are now a truck driver, police officer, fireman, steel worker, baker, auto worker, municipal or state employee .... where ever you work as a union member, you currently have a contract with your employer that provides you health and welfare benefits. Most municipal workers are covered by a health care policy that has been put out for bid to a number of in state insurance companies by your municipal or state government for the duration of your union contract. Keep in mind that municipal or state governments will no longer be obligated to keep those same health and welfare benefits once the Pelosi public option becomes effective.

In your next contract, you, as a union worker, will have to take what ever the government hands out whether you have a pay scale contract or not! Because no insurance company can compete with the federal government, and every employer, whomever it might be, big or small, is going to opt out of buying the type of health insurance coverage you may now enjoy, because it simply will be cheaper to let you go begging to Washington for your health care. This of course will be done with political savvy, reminding you your taxes will be lower ... NAUGHT !!

You will then have to stand in line for medical services like the rest of the non union public. Your union can scream and shout till hades freezes over but the stark reality of economics will prevail. With such a disastrous burden of care, with over 15 million illegal immigrants covered by the Pelsoi bill suddenly thrust upon the American health care system, and with doctors and hospitals being told by the government what they can charge, and what kind of services they can render, how long do you think our great American health care system can prevail under such dire conditions? Doctors and nurses will leave the health care profession in droves, leaving the immense health care burden to the few remaining.

Our great American health care, which is the model of the entire world, will crumble like a deck of cards. No longer will a justifiable union protest be tolerated by bureaucrats in Washington. Those same bureaucrats that asked for your union vote last November, will be giving you the “change” you voted for. Only this time the “change” ... I. E.: mega $$$$'s from your union paycheck will go to hire more bureaucrats in Washington to run the national socialized health care system.

The cost of health care that is written into every union contract could be reduced drastically if tort reform were written into a health care reform bill that would cause all the ambulance chasing attorneys to back off. Remember .... you, the public, pay for the h u g e personal protection insurance cost that each doctor must pony up each year in self defense, against these dastardly money mongers. Why isn't this being written into any health care reform bill? Simply ..... because most of the Senators and the President are Lawyers ! Another issue that is not being addressed by any health care reform bill before the congress, is why competitive health care coverage cost, by the insurance companies, are not  currently allowed, because health insurance business cannot be done over state lines.

We can buy competitive automobile insurance over state lines, comparing the costs from one company to another ..... and purchasing the type and cost of auto insurance we want .... why not health insurance? If this were allowed, the cost would immediately come down at least 20%. But you know and I know, there are those people in the individual state legislatures that are lining their pockets with profits from this kind of competitive blockage. If this was not so, then ask the Governor of your state why his/her state does not allow this type of competition?

Another part of the reform of health care is long term, or catastrophic health care. This is where the government can, and should become involved. If the government would provide for care in this kind of health crisis, then the private insurance companies could lower even more the cost of coverage they offer the every day needs of health coverage the American society now enjoys.  Like, maternity coverage for instance, or that broken leg that happened during a skiing accident, or that youngster needing tonsils removed.

Think this over very carefully Mr. And Mrs. union a n d non union worker. What has Nancy Pelosi done for you recently?

This is a time in America when the union worker must stand shoulder to shoulder with his/her non union working brother and sister. Write, or better yet, email, and if you can't do either, call the toll free number of the two senators in Washington from your state, and tell them that if true health care reform is going to become a reality, then no public option can ever be tolerated!

    C. C. Bondermann .... simply a concerned American

IF YOU HAVE A LOVED ONE THAT WILL BE AFFECTED BY THE PELOSI SOCIALIZED MEDICINE HEALTH CARE BILL ... THEN PLEASE PASS THIS ON, AND HAVE THEM REFLECT ON WHERE OUR BELOVED NATION IS HEADED.

LEVESQUE: MICHAUD VOTES AGAINST MAINE SENIORS WITH SUPPORT OF HEALTH CARE BILL

LEVESQUE FOR CONGRESS

P.O. BOX 1387
Auburn, ME 04211

MICHAUD VOTES AGAINST MAINE SENIORS
WITH SUPPORT OF HEALTH CARE BILL

Jason J. Levesque, candidate in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, issued the following statement in reaction to Rep. Mike Michaud’s announced support for H.R. 3962, the Pelosi health care bill:
“Mike Michaud voted to deprive Maine’s elderly of health care security by supporting a bill which cuts benefit payments to Medicare by $500-million and eliminates two-thirds of senior citizens from the Medicare Advantage program. Maine has one of the oldest populations in the country and he has turned his back on the needs of a key constituency.
“Mike Michaud sold out Maine working families, small businesses and Maine seniors by failing to take an independent stand against a bad bill. Instead of showing leadership and fighting for real health reform, he toed the line with the radicals in his party and supported a bill which will not provide a solution. His vote will take away health choices between patients and their personal doctors, expands government powers, creates dozens of new bureaucracies and sticks billions of dollars in new taxes on middle class families and small businesses.
“The mandates in the bill Michaud supported will put such a burden on small businesses that even more jobs will be killed as they’re saddled with the financial burden of $750-billion in new taxes to pay for this $1.4-trillion scheme, costing the loss of 5.5-million jobs.
“That’s unconscionable when the 2nd District suffers from high unemployment, including Mike Michaud’s home town with 14.5-percent - one of the highest unemployment rates in the country.
“Mike Michaud had a chance to stand up for real reform of health coverage but he sided with his special interest cronies’ big government false solution instead. He has failed his constituents on another key vote and proved that he is nowhere near the fiscally responsible Blue Dog he claims to be by hiding people from his infamous voting record.”

."..The Lady with the Fire,,,"... How Time Just Burns Away

The original crown....this was very moving to see as this is the the first thing my grandparents saw when they arrived in NYC. I remember my grandmother talking about the Lady holding the fire...a Lisbon resident was quoted as saying during a recent visit to the Statue of Liberty.

This is the actual torch that was displayed. It is being kept inside and preseved because of recent corrosion discoveries and corrections.

Letter of Thanks‏

I would like to thank those who voted for me to represent you and the Town
of Lisbon as a member of the Budget/Advisory Committee. Although I did not
have a voice (vote), I attended most if not all of the Budget meetings and
workshops this year. I knew it would be interesting.

When I saw an opening for that position this year and no one stepping up to
 apply, I thought, why not?

I know the first year on a Committee is mostly a learning year, but I
want the taxpayers and Town of Lisbon employees alike, to know that I hope
to represent
you all fairly and honestly.

Lisbon – On Wednesday, November 4, Gifted and Talented Students Jordan Beauparlant, Jessiah Carlson, Kyle Frazier and Sarah Giraldo from Lisbon High School attended a politicial session at Lewiston Auburn College, accompanied by their teacher, Paul Giggey.  Guest of honor, Democratic Senate President Libby Mitchell, held a question and answer session at the college for area school students, along with their teachers and advisors.    Mitchell addressed major issues facing Mainers today, especially job creation and education.

Elizabeth (Libby) H. Mitchell was unanimously elected as Maine’s 113th Senate President on December 3, 2008. Mitchell has the distinct honor of being the first woman in America to serve as both the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House. Senator Mitchell represents Senate District 24, which includes Augusta, China, Oakland, Sidney and Vassalboro.
A resident of Vassalboro, Senator Mitchell was first elected to the Maine Legislature in 1974. Her legislative service includes nine terms in the House and three in the Senate. During her time in the legislature she has been a tireless advocate for education; successfully championing legislation to improve Maine’s K-12 and higher education systems and sponsoring first in the nation legislation that used state funding to expand the Head Start program.
On opening day of the 124th Legislature, President Mitchell set a tone for the session by calling on everyone, regardless of party, to work together to increase opportunity for Maine people by creating jobs, expanding access to health care, improving the quality of our education system, and moving the state towards energy sustainability.

In addition to serving her community in the Legislature, Libby has served three terms on the Vassalboro Board of Selectmen. She also serves on the board of Maine General Health, Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education, New England Board of Higher Education and Jobs for Maine Graduates. She served seven years on the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, chairing the board for four years. She has also served on the board of Kennebec Health Association, Home Resources of Maine, Kennebec Valley Medical Center, Oak Grove-Coburn School and as director of the Maine Homeless Coalition.

Libby and her husband Jim live in Vassalboro. They are the proud parents of four children (J. Elizabeth, Will, Charlie and Emily) and six grandchildren.

Students were provided the opportunity to attend the session thanks to The Androscoggin Valley Regional Program for the Gifted and Talented.  The program was developed in 1986 in response to the needs of the gifted and talented high school systems in the Androscoggin Valley Education Collaborative (AVEC).  The schools consist of Auburn, Lewiston, Lisbon, Oak Hill and Leavitt.

Lisbon HS Receives Xtra Mart Grant‏

Lisbon – On Tuesday, November 3, Lisbon Xtra-Mart Manager, Tonia Ross, presented Ken Healey, Principal of Lisbon High School, with a check for $750.  Ross made the presentation as a grant to the school on behalf of the Educational Alliance Program sponsored by Exxon/Mobil.  “Thanks to the contributions from community businesses like Xtra-Mart, the students at Lisbon High School benefit.  Monies will be used to purchase “spirit shirts” for student awards in areas of academic achievement and overall good sportsmanship, said Healey.  “We are pleased to support our local high school and its students,” shared Ross. “It is always a pleasure to help the students at LHS – they make our community proud.”
