How Congress helped created the very mental illness that resulted in the Giffords shooting

(NaturalNews) Giffords was assaulted while doing what more representatives in Washington should be doing: Talking with their constituents at home in a public place, right out in the open. In an age where many members of Congress hide behind closed doors and spend more time meeting with corporate lobbyists than talking with their constituents, Giffords regularly took time to talk to the people she sought to represent in Washington.

The sad fallout from this shooting in Tucson is that more members of Congress are now going to hide behind closed doors and refuse to interact with the public. There are psychos out there, after all.

But where did all the psychos come from?

Why Congress bears some responsibility for America's epidemic of mental illness

Congress bears a tremendous responsibility for creating those psychos in the first place, and that's where this story takes a turn for the ugly. How could such a claim be true? Read on...

It is Congress that has allowed the FDA to continue censoring the science behind nutritional supplements while pushing psychiatric drugs on children, for example. Did you know that vitamin D deficiency promotes schizophrenia? (http://www.naturalnews.com/003069.html)

I have very high confidence that a blood test of Loughner would reveal striking nutritional deficiencies combined with blood sugar imbalances. His photo reveals pale white skin, for example -- a common indicator of chronic vitamin D deficiency.

Did you know that the vast majority of violent criminals currently serving time in U.S. prisons suffer from blood sugar imbalances caused by a lifetime of junk food consumption? (Sodas, processed sugar, etc.)

These are all issues on which Congress could have made a positive impact over the last several decades but refused to because corporate interests were at stake. The junk food, pharmaceutical and sick-care industries all have powerful lobbyists influencing the votes of members of Congress, and very few members of Congress have ever taken any real action to reduce the exposure of American children and teens to dangerous foods, additives, medications and chemicals that actually promote mental illness.

Brain-damaging chemicals remain legal in America

When it comes to brain-damaging chemicals, Congress has also stood by and done virtually nothing to protect the American people from fluoride, brain-damaging adjuvants in vaccines, mercury dental fillings, dangerous chemicals in personal care products and mind-damaging chemicals in home construction materials (wanna live in a FEMA trailer, anyone?)

While decrying the terrible health crisis facing America today -- which includes mental health -- Congress has stood by and done absolutely nothing to actually improve the fundamental health of the American people. No, the Obama health care reforms don't count, because all they do is grant a monopoly over sick-care to the conventional medical industry while completely ignoring disease prevention, nutrition and other natural therapies that can often reverse chronic disease. If anything, Obama's health care reforms would make mental illness worse because, by forcing Americans to purchase conventional health insurance, they deny Americans the discretionary income they might normally spend on nutritional supplements, organic foods or other natural therapies that can help prevent mental illness.

Instead of actually improving the health of the American people, Congress has jumped in bed with the pharmaceutical industry and handed Big Pharma a monopoly over sick-care, written into law with Obama's health care reform (and also backed by the Bush administration before that).

Notably, this decision was aggressively promoted by the Democrats and even Gabrielle Giffords herself, who voted for Obamacare. (Do not twist this into an interpretation that I blame Giffords for Loughner's actions. She deserves no such blame. Congress as a whole, however, has played an important role in allowing mental illness to fester in America while suppressing nutritional therapies and cures that could help end that particular epidemic.)

The illusion of mental health "treatment" in America

Only a very small number of congressional members have ever done anything to support nutritional therapies or health freedoms that would genuinely improve the physical and mental health of the American people. Rep. Ron Paul, notably, has offered a Health Freedom Protection Act for several years now, but that bill never has enough support by other members of Congress to even make it to the floor for a debate. Rep Dennis Kucinich, on the Democratic side, is a supporter of natural health, and he deserves credit for trying to carry such concepts into his actions there, too.

Aside from a few exceptions, Congress has, by and large, has done nothing to support any improvement in the mental health of the American people. And funding more conventional "mental health screening" doesn't count because, as intelligent observers well know, mental health "screening" is merely a profit-driven patient recruiting scheme used by pharmaceutical companies to put more people on psychiatric drugs, many of which actually promote violent thoughts as a common side effect. So now we have members of Congress essentially being violently assaulted by the very people they have historically abandoned with their Big Pharma favoritism and refusal to embrace health freedom in America. It remains illegal in America, for example, for an Omega-3 supplement manufacturer to tell the truth that omega-3 supplements work as well or better than antidepressants at reducing the symptoms of depression. The FDA considers such a claim, even if backed by links to scientific studies, to be a criminal act. And the Congress has never bothered to exercise oversight with the FDA to prevent such outlandish oppression of scientific speech about nutrition that could really work to reduce mental illness in America.

Why nutrition affects mental health: Brain function 101

The brain, after all, is a physical organ fed by the blood supply. And the blood is comprised of the food you eat, the beverages you drink, and the medications you take. Everything you swallow affects your brain in one way or another.

This simple truth is still not widely recognized in conventional medicine, nor is it common knowledge among the American people, most of which continue to feed their children processed, nutritionally depleted junk foods. And then they wonder why little Jonny is angry all the time. So they put him on ADHD drugs, SSRI drugs and other psychiatric chemicals. Before long, little Jonny is emptying a 30-round magazine into his classmates at school. And the parents, teachers, Sheriffs and members of Congress stand around scratching their heads, wondering to themselves, "Why does this happen?" So they blame Rush Limbaugh.

Gee. Is the root cause of this really so complex to figure it out?

See, a Glock pistol does not fire unless a finger pulls the trigger. That finger is attached to a system of muscles and neurons that are connected to the human brain. That human brain, which makes the decision to pull the trigger, is fed by the human blood supply. That human blood supply is literally manufactured from whatever that person eats: School lunches, Diet Coke with aspartame, Twinkies, GMO corn, High Fructose Corn Syrup, MSG in canned soups, artificial food coloring chemicals, and so on.

So you have a chain of causality here: The food affects the blood, which affects the brain, which affects the "mental health" which affects the finger which pulls the trigger to cause senseless violence.

Of course, there are other factors, too: Social factors, family, violent video games (perhaps), exposure to heavy metals such as mercury (from dental fillings, seafood, etc.), influences from peers, and so on. I'm not claiming that food alone is responsible for this shooting, but I am asserting, with confidence, that what Loughner consumed in terms of food, beverages and medicine absolutely DID have an impact on his mental health. That fact is undeniable.

What is also undeniable is that the U.S. Congress has done virtually nothing to improve the fundamental health of the American people. Not that it's their responsibility in the first place, but at the very least they should get out of the way and allow nutritional supplement companies to make scientifically-substantiated claims about the health benefits of their products. Dismantling the entire U.S. Food and Drug Administration would be a far more effective action. It would unleash a golden age of health freedom in America and cause rates of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and mental illness to plummet over the next decade. America's epidemic of mental illness

This is largely why we have an epidemic of mental illness in America today. And that epidemic of mental illness, like all epidemics, has a cause.

But what are the real factors that cause such widespread mental illness in America?

In answering this question, you're forced to consider things that poison the brain, which is after all a physical organ that relies on healthy biochemistry to operate correctly. So the right question here is, "What kinds of things in society today harm brain function?

That answer reveals a very long list:

Chemical substances:
• Psychiatric drugs
• Prescription medications
• Over-the-counter drugs
• Many street drugs
• Pesticides, herbicides, fungicides in the food
• Chemical food additives
• Off-gassing of toxic chemicals from furniture
• Toxic lawn care chemicals
• Fluoride in the water
• Chemicals and preservatives in vaccines
• GMO foods
• Mercury in fish and seafood (makes you crazy)
• Chemicals in personal care products and cosmetics

Brain programming:
• Violent video games
• Violent television programming
• Military indoctrination programs that desensitize people to violence
• Violent imagery on mainstream news programs
• Violent imagery in Hollywood movies
• "Militainment" - the transformation of war into killing entertainment through the mass media

If you combine all these factors with widespread nutritional deficiencies, you will inevitably create mental patients out of people who would have otherwise been harmless. From there, it's not difficult for a mentally deranged person bent on violence to locate a weapon of some sort -- a machete, sword, firearm, knife or even a Buick -- and then use it to commit violence against other human beings.

I believe that any honest discussion about Loughner and mental health in America must embrace these critical factors. If we are to prevent future violence from happening again, we must reduce the number of people in America who suffer from mental illness. And I assure you that can only be accomplished through a revolution in food and nutrition.

We are what we eat

We are what we eat. Loughner was insane. It is no coincidence that our factory farming meat operations in America are similarly insane.

It is no coincidence that mainstream laundry detergent products contain cancer-causing fragrance chemicals.

It is no coincidence that our food supply is largely made of heavily processed, refined ingredients that have been nutritionally depleted.

Loughner is the "refined white sugar" poster boy. He's the Wonder Boy of Wonder Bread (refined white flour).

He represents the ultimate extreme of what happens when you raise a kid on processed foods and angry meat products produced through the committing of violence to cows, pigs and chickens. Yes, it does matter. When you produce your food through violence, you tend to get violent behavior in those who consume it.

But it's so much easier to ignore the real causes, isn't it?

Of course, this article is fifty years ahead of mainstream thinking in America. Instead of considering these simple and obvious truths (well, they're obvious to NaturalNews readers, anyway), Congress will instead seek to ban guns, or ban free speech, or somehow attempt to invoke some moronic reactionary law that will completely ignore the root causes of mental illness in America. Because that's what Congress does best.

And that brings me to the final conclusion here: Einstein once said the definition of insanity (mental illness) is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Yet isn't that exactly what the U.S. Congress is doing?

They keep favoring the pharmaceutical industry, the junk food industry and the toxic chemical companies while ignoring the real health needs of the American people. And yet they somehow expect the outcome to be different. By Einstein's definition, the U.S. Congress also suffers from a kind of mental illness.

They act out of an "insanity of the status quo." And make no mistake, this insanity will continue for as long as our nation continues to raise our children on junk foods, factory-farmed meat products and psychiatric medications.

Mental health can be cured in America. But not by national leaders who are themselves expressing their own pattern of mental illness through their legislative priorities.

To cure mental illness in America, we need to first address the mental health of those who make our laws. If we do not, I sadly predict such random acts of violence will continue to be undertaken by the very same young men who have been abandoned, poisoned and exploited by the food, drug and chemical industries that now dominate America's legislative landscape.

You can't stop bullets with laws. But you can legalize health freedom in America so that the mental health of the population is improved to the point where far fewer people feel the insane urge to resort to the use of bullets in the first place.

911 ... Police, fire, or rescue? Not sure, but it's a nightmare‏

It was a cold and heartless January 2011 with one exception. Ted William's golden voice caught nationwide attention, and a prodigal son was lifted from homelessness as he returned to a life with dignity. 

December 31, 2010, John Wheeler III's body was discovered in a Delaware garbage dump. Wheeler, a former Pentagon official, had sued a New Castle couple for building a home across the street from his house. Wheeler may have been too smart for his own good. West Point, Harvard business school, and Yale law school are all of the credentials that could easily turn good brains into a loathsome character that displays repulsive arrogance. Wheeler was connected to three Presidents, had the highest security clearances, and was an expert on biological warfare. 

He knew too much and was opposed to the use of biological weapons. If someone wanted to make a statement, Wheeler's tragic ending was that statement.

On New Year's day and in the days that followed, odd reports of mass animal kills surfaced around the world. Birds, fish, alligators, turtles, and shell fish caught the world's attention as mass kills were reported in Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, California, Illinois, Florida, Brazil, Australia, Sweden, and Italy. In the post office the topic came up, and a woman directed me to Zephaniah, which I looked up when I got home. The Old Testament prophet Zephaniah warned, “I will sweep away everything from the face of the earth, ” declares the LORD. “I will sweep away both man and beast; I will sweep away the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea—and the idols that cause the wicked to stumble. When I destroy all mankind on the face of the earth,” declares the LORD. (Chapter 1, Verses 2-3). Many people at social networking sites posted suspicions of phosgene gas and the death of Wheeler as an inside the government attempt to silence a whistle blower. Scientists, however, said that mass animal kills are normal.

January 8, Jared Loughner went on a psychotic shooting rampage in Tucson, Arizona where he shot 16 and killed six people. True to his video clips posted online, Loughner "let the bodies hit the floor." Among them were United States District Court for the District of Arizona Judge John M. Roll, who was shot dead; and Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head.

Loughner's behavior, when more carefully examined, appears less to be connected with political ideology. His book list was required high school and freshman college reading. Loughner appears to be in the same line of people as the Pentagon shooter John Patrick Bedel and the Virginia tech shooter Seung Hui Cho. These tragic lives resemble Holden Caufield's out of Catcher in the Rye. On the continuum between  

schizophrenia and MK ultra, however, Loughner leans towards the MK ultra side of the scale given his statements and video clips and appearance in court. A mere one percent of the population is schizophrenic. That's about three million Americans. 

Judge Roll made a controversial ruling. "In 2009, Roll ruled that the case Vicente v. Barnett could go forward. The $32 million lawsuit brought by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF) against Arizona rancher Roger Barnett on behalf of 16 Mexican plaintiffs charged that the plaintiffs were assaulted, threatened, and held at gunpoint by Barnett and members of his family."  For those who believe that life is random and filled with accidents, Roll was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Among the many sentiments on the Internet regarding Roll after his murder were those that expressed relief that he was gone, but disapproval of his murder.

Congresswoman Giffords switched from the Republican to the Democratic party in 2010. She supported President Obama's health care plan, which provoked both a nationwide protest and litigation by many states against the federal government. To compound matters, Arizona's District 8 sits on a 114 mile border with Mexico. As described by The New York Times, "The district has become a caldron of divisions over government spending, immigration, health care and Barack Obama." Her vandalized office and the really rough town hall meetings were the "if you see something, say something" signs that Janet Napolitano's Department of Homeland Security failed to notice. The gun rhetoric used by some politicians and some in the media also escaped Napolitano's notice. The department's focus under Napolitano instead was on Walmart's mostly lower income and foreign born customers, who follow low prices. Loughner followed those low prices and bought his bullets at Walmart. No one saw anything suspicious, so no one said anything, and no one called Napolitano. Even if they had, no one at Department of Homeland Security would have picked up the phone since the government agency is closed on the weekends. Besides, his parents, neighbors, classmates, and teachers reported nothing, because they knew nothing.

The earlier comments about a "hate crime" possibly at play given that Giffords is Jewish was misplaced since 

Loughner is also Jewish. The likelihood that Loughner targeted Giffords, because of race or religion made no sense. Yet, FOX News reported "suspected anti-Semitic motives." And, a Department of Homeland Security memo noted that Loughner may be linked to anti government and anti "Zionist Occupational Government" organizations (i.e., the belief that Jews control the U.S. government). Smear and fear mongering Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center made the mainstream media rounds to warn the mesmerized nation about the dangers of white supremacists and gold hoarders as potential terrorists. Abe Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League asserted that Loughner had "a generic distrust" of government (like about 80 percent of the American public). Loughner also had a dislike for religion (like the American Civil Liberties Union). He mocked Christianity and believers like the Columbine killers Eric David Harris and Dylan Bennet Klebold (Klebold also had a Jewish background). He also had a vague interest in conspiracy theories (like any reader of a Congressional commission report as in the Warren Commission or the 9/11 Commission). None of these idiotic "experts," who shape public opinion, addressed mental illness or family dysfunction as the more likely contributing factors in shaping a natural born killer.

Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church announced that he was thankful for Loughner's actions and planned to picket the funerals. It seems that in Phelps repulsive presentation of God to the world, the wrath of God is here, and America deserves it and more.

Zionists and New World Order planners behind American politics promoted Sarah Palin to a national level far beyond what was warranted. She's got good looks and poor judgment, hardly the qualifications for The White House. Palin's gun rhetoric appealed to those afraid Obama sought to disarm Americans prior to ushering in socialism and rounding up resisters into FEMA camps by railway cars. All the bravado about being locked, loaded, targeted and stuff like that really worked better in a John Wayne film. It's the type of imagery that foreigners to this day think about when they look at America. It's the rough riding American with cow boy hats, crocodile boots, and quick trigger fingers. Thanks to her handlers and backers, Palin took the notion of the ugly American to a new level. She was not alone. The mainstream media fully participated in the over the top rhetoric and fueled the polarization of our society. 

But, the poor taste in public discourse and rude behavior in the political process are not the reasons Loughner locked, loaded, and targeted people in public. Andy Warhol said that everyone gets their 10 minutes of fame in America. In this case, it was global notoriety.  Loughner showed up in court looking like Aleister Crowley with a bizarre triumphant look on his face complete with shaved eyebrows. Yes, Loughner wants the world to know he's insane. What he did was insane. What is equally bizarre is how poorly connected Tucson's residents are. The neighbor across the street from the Loughner's since 1972 did not even know that family's last name. The same alienation and isolation in America's neighborhoods is probably nationwide, a social illness, due to over exposure to television as a substitute for community and socializing.

January 10, Ashley Turton, a lobbyist, was burned to death in her BMW SUV that was parked inside her garage near Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Her husband Dan Turton works in the White House as the deputy director of legislative affairs, and is the liaison with the House of Representatives.

I see a lot of troubling and suspicious things, but Janet Napolitano at Department of Homeland Security is not the person to call unless it's descriptive name calling as in idiotic. Had I called 911 during the first 10 days of January 2011 and heard, "Police, fire, or rescue?" I would have answered, "Not sure. But, it's a nightmare."

 world for the next four years.

 me stuff or trying to guilt me into making 'donations' to their cause....
 Get a job and do your part to support yourself and your family!

High cost of vet clinic visit / less than 24 hrs/ no operating‏

Recently, my family lost our beloved 3 year old dog to acute kidney failure. Medicines from the family Vet were not working- on the third day we took her to the emergency clinic as she seemed to be vomiting blood. (our Vet office was closed). She was handled very kindly and treated with fluids and meds,no operation was performed,and in less than 24 hours, she was euthanized. The total cost for this emergency clinic visit was $1843.00 (plus an additional $148 to our family Vet). To put his bill in perspective, my total funeral alternative cremation services package cost $1200 when purchased a few years ago.

Before the clinic would treat the dog, my daughter, who was the legal owner,had to sign a "Care Credit" agreement ( a GE Credit Card). If the total amount ( over $300 a month) was paid within 6 months, no interest would be charged . If the entire amount was not paid, it would trigger an interest charge of 26.99% on the entire initial amount, with a default late fee of 29.99% for the next several months.Reading the small print was an eye opener. We all were shocked at the high cost of every little 'equipment thing' used during her treatment, and the high charges for miniscule doses of meds.The attachment will show these charges.

I am sending this to pet owners on my mailing list and hoping that you readers may forward this to other pet owners as a 'heads-up'. This type of credit card 'service' is now the norm for vets, dentists, and other professionals  whose prices for services are often very high ( as is the price professionals must pay for their educations).

The most insidious aspect of signing this credit card 'agreement' is that the actual card amount may be issued for more than the amount due for the services provided. One can get a 'cash advance' at 29,99% from the remainder of the card value. For the many in desperate straits during these trying economic times,it would seem that danger could lurk in the fine print.

Let the buyer beware- perhaps even pet ownership is becoming too expensive for average or lower than average wage earners.

Our family will be will be looking at pet insurance, and hoping that we can afford it and another dog to brighten our lives.

I would like to thank Darcy Moore for the excellent reporting she did on the Citizens petition, for the recall of Town Councilor and former Chair of the Lisbon Town Council, Michael R. Bowie. Her article in the December 31, 2010, January 1,2, 2011, issue was timely, informative, and accurate. The article on January 5^th issue, the day following the referendum vote, was excellent as well. The Times Record is fortunate to have a reporter on their staff who pays attention to detail and strives to do it right.

            My name is Dot Fitzgerald. I headed up the recall petition, but I did not do it alone, I would like to publicly thank Sandy Kent, Sue Carrier, Maryann Morgan and Deb Barry, the ladies who took time from their busy lives to assist, and collected signatures for the petition. I could not have done it alone. While 288 signatures of registered voters in Ward 2, the Lisbon Falls area, were necessary to have the petition placed on a ballot for a referendum vote, we had over 400, and had to turn away others not from Ward 2, and after the petition was submitted to Town Office. That told us that the citizens of the Town of Lisbon were behind us in the recall.

A minimum of 608 registered voters of Ward 2 were necessary to validate the election, and a majority “yes” votes for the recall. A total of 257 votes were cast, 160 yes, 96 no, with one ballot blank. Needless to say, I was disappointed in the turnout, the number of people who took the time to go to the polls and vote. I do want to thank those who did. This is democracy at it’s best.

I was given the credit and took the complaints.

There had been many complaints about Mike Bowie in his capacity as Chair of the Lisbon Town Council, many who said, he needs to go. A few of us, citizens of Lisbon, took the initiative, took out the petition and circulated it. Now I do not want to hear any complaints about Mr. Bowie on the Council.

You, the citizens of Lisbon, had an opportunity to make a change, and did not.

Again, I would like to thank the Times Record, and especially Darcy Moore, for an excellent job of reporting and printing the facts.

Lisbon recall vote looms

LISBON — Residents of Lisbon Falls will head to the polls Tuesday to decide if District 2 Town Councilor Michael Bowie will retain that position.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Marion T. Morse Center, 16 School St. Voters will receive ballots listing just one question: “Shall Michael Robert Bowie be recalled from the office of Town Council?”

The recall referendum results from a citizen petition filed Nov. 5. The four complaints against Bowie listed on the recall petition relate largely to his service as Town Council chairman. His term as chairman expired on Dec. 7, when town councilors elected Mark Lunt as their new leader.

Although Lisbon has two voting wards, only registered voters in District 2, Lisbon Falls, will cast ballots Tuesday to determine whether Bowie will continue to represent them on the Town Council.

Lisbon Falls recall election Tuesday

LISBON — Voters in District Two, Lisbon Falls, will be going to the polls on Tuesday for a special citizen-initiated recall election of veteran Town Council Chairman Michael Bowie, as permitted under the town charter.
The recall petition was submitted to the town by School Street resident Dorothy Fitzgerald, chairman of the Recall Committee.

another fraud from corporate "science"

In certain jurisdictions, the criminal-moron-public officials who have been putting fluoride into public water supplies are running out of money to do so.

Eighteen water systems in Alabama alone have stopped the practice.

One small town alone, Red Bay, Alabama, was spending over $50,000 a year adding this known toxin to their water.

Fluoride is a highly toxic industrial by-product that cannot be safely disposed of economically.

So, after WW II, with the help of the good people at the "National Institute of Dental Research" (the "mercury in your mouth is good for you" people), US industry took a page from the Nazis who started the practice with the water supplies of "undesirable" people and manufactured the "science" needed to add it to the US water supplies as a "public service."

The fact that some local governments are giving up on the practice is good news.

On the other hand, maybe Homeland Security will give these little towns grants to put it back in, you know, some economic stimulus to help keep everybody safe.

Steroid use among police officers a widespread problem

(NaturalNews) Professional athletes are not the only prominent members of society with major drug problems. According to a recent report by AOL News, as many as 25 percent or more of police officers are regularly take steroid drugs, which has led to a rise in the number of assaults and other cases of "roid rage" occurring against citizens by those in law enforcement.

Lawrence Payne, a spokesman for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) recently told AOL News that steroid use among cops is a "big problem" and that "it's something we shouldn't ignore." After all, numerous investigations have revealed an alarmingly high rate of use, including an investigation in New Jersey that pinned 248 cops and 53 firefighters with steroid use.

Former South Bend police officer Tony Macik, for instance, served a 300-day jail sentence for dealing steroids and assaulting one of his wife's co-workers, an incident likely related to steroid use (http://www.wndu.com/localnews/headl...). And an 84-year-old Florida man who suffered a broken neck after being tackled by Officer Travis Lamont from the Orlando Police Department says that Lamont's "erratic, sporadic and aggressive behavior" was indicative of steroid use (http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/s...).

And there are countless other cases of both steroid use and possession among officers across the country. But because most people are unaware of it, little is being done to stop the practice. Officers are not necessarily even required to undergo drug testing, and some departments say that forcing officers to get tested for drugs after they assault citizens violates their rights.

A REMINDER TO LISBON CITIZENS OF WARD 2, LISBON FALLS
MARK THE DATE - JANUARY 4, 2011

The referendum for the recall of Town Councilor Michael Bowie is on Tuesday
January 4, 2011. The re-call petitions circulated in November 2010 was to
put the re-call to a referendum vote.
The actual re-call will be decided by the number of votes (ballots) cast,
the number of people voting, and the majority of "yes' or "no" votes. YES
votes to validate the re-call, and NO votes would keep Mr. Bowie in office
for another 2 years, the remainder of his term.


A total of 608 people need to get out and vote.

Absentee ballots are available at the Town Office. Voting for Ward 2 is at
the MTM Center, School Street, Lisbon Falls. The polls will be open from 7
a.m. to 8 p.m.

The reasons for the re-call of Councilor Michael Bowie are:
A. Denying and councilor the right to place an item on the agenda (charter
sec. 2.04).
Fact: Town Council meeting, September 9, 2009, councilor Cote requested
that
Council Chair, Michael Bowie place a request for a J.Brake on
Route 9 as an
item for discussion.
Fact: Town Council meeting, December 1, 2009 Councilor Cote presented the
entire council with a letter asking for a charter amendment
allowing the
registered voters in Lisbon to have a vote on the municipal
budget.
Councilor Cote was told that the item would be placed on the agenda
at a letter date. Neither request was honored.

B. Not consulting with all the councilors when dealing with the town
manager. (charter sec.2.04)
Fact: supported based on comments and information discussed, in particular
at the town council
meeting of September 7, 2010, and again at the meeting of September
17, 2010 and throughout
additional meetings made public. Specifically the September 17, 2010
council meeting when
Councilor Gina Mason stated "I'm embarrassed to sit here and tell you
I didn't know this was
going on. My question to Steve (Eldridge) and Mike is why as 6
councilors that are just equal
to the seven, why weren't we told about this before the tax bills
were sent out?"
Mr. Bowie, chairman of the town council received an e-mail from town
manager Steve Eldridge
on September 1, 2010 at 9:56 a.m. notifying him of the drop in "our
personal property value that
totals$19,846,420.00. This drop in personal property value greatly
affected the 2010/2011 tax bills.
Who could forget that meeting, if you were there or watched on TV?!

C. Improper influence and/or conflict of interest regarding the use of town
funds (chapter 12).
Fact: Councilor Bowie continued in discussions regarding the Police
Department budget regarding
salaries despite recommendations by the Ethics Panel that he not be
in the room during Police
Department salaries and budgets. Councilor Bowie's wife is
secretary to Chief of Police David
Brooks. This constitutes a conflict of interest.

D. Failure to properly preside over a Town Council meeting.
Fact: The items discussed and addressed at the February 17, 2010 Council
meeting by Chief Brooks
were not on the agenda and did not pertain to the Police Department
budget or an item warranting
public discussion. Chief Brooks used this time to belittle, ridicule
and display outright insubordination
as a town employee towards a town councilor.It was evident that a
few councilors, including Bowie
had prior knowledge of this pending "performance". Councilor Bowie
has limited citizens during
public hearings to a 2 minute timeframe when speaking. Citizens
paying taxes should be allowed
time to speak without being cut-off by a councilor provided they are
within their time limit set forth.
Councilor Bowie has displayed his inability to run or facilitate a
meeting on more that one occasion,
and the Town Charter supports this infraction as outlined as an
action for re-call.

NOW YOU KNOW

Do you, the citizens and taxpayers of the Town of Lisbon, specifically of
Ward 2, want more of the same,
