Lisbon's PWS Greyhound's were edged out in a tight 1-2 match against
Monmouth's Mustangs. The fight was a persistent one with both sides
striving to remain on the offensive. The first goal scored was by #10
Mustang Hunter Richardson 12 minutes from the kick. As the game
progressed determined Greyhound defenders like rookie Fullback Jonah
Sautter held strong and returned the ball upfield for several good
attacks. Greyhound Forward Captain Nick Huston was the first to start
firing shots on goal but it wasn't until the end of the half that the
nimble feet of Striker Austin Fournier put one in the back of the net
to tie things up. The second half continued on in like fashion as each
team worked arduously in getting past the opposing teams defense. The
game seemed certain to end in a tie until once again Richardson
penetrated deep though Lisbon's defense to within scoring range,
slipping one fortunate shot past the goalie with a mere 25 seconds
remaining. Lisbon's [2-4] 'Hounds will have one practice and a 3 day
weekend to rest up for their match as they visit Winthrop's finest on
Tuesday, October 11.
