Offshore Drilling.....This is disgusting!

 Submitted by Robert C.

Why aren`t Obama supporters mad about this?

Please liberals, keep an open mind and read the article.  Are you so
ingrained in the liberal world that you aren`t willing to read an
article critical of the idealism.

I Googled this and sure enough, it is in the August 18, 2009 issue of
the Wall Street Journal.  Wonder why it does not show up on SNOPES?
Hmmm.

To find this Wall St. Journal article I had to search on the Journal's
search engine.  Type in...Obama Underwrites Offshore Drilling.
The web page in this e-mail has been shut down.   You can access the
Journal article from the links given below.

Amazing how if another country drills, it is ok. Does not pollute.  But
we can't. Can anybody explain it to me?  This should be front page news
on every newspaper in the USA

I HOPE THIS GETS YOU AND MAKES YOU MAD --- LIKE IT DOES ME

To my liberal friends, before you delete this, please take the time to
read the entire email.

This is a perfect example why I refrain from watching the news on
--- ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN or MSNBC - You didn't see a word of this on any
of those networks.  They report only what they want you to know...

On 20 August 2009, on a segment of the "Glen Beck Show" on FCN (Fox
Cable News) ... was the following:

"Today even though President Obama is against offshore drilling for oil
for
this country.  He signed an executive order to loan 2 Billion or more
of our
taxpayers dollars to a Brazilian Oil Exploration Company (which is
the 8th
largest company in the entire world)  to drill  for oil off the
coast of Brazil.

The oil that comes from this operation is for the sole purpose and use
of
China  and not the  USA .

The Chinese government is under contract to purchase all the oil that
this oil field will produce, which is hundreds of millions of barrels
of oil".

  We have absolutely no gain from this transaction whatsoever.

  Wait, it gets more interesting:
  Guess who is the largest individual stockholder of this Brazilian
  Oil Company, and who would benefit most from this ---???

  It is American Billionaire, George Soros, the Liberal businessman who
is
  a radical left wing supporter, finances "MoveOn.org" as well as other
  liberal programs, and was President Obama's largest and most generous
  supporter during his campaign.

  If you are able to connect the dots and follow the money, you are
probably
  as upset as I am.

  Not a word of this transaction was on any of the other news networks.

  Forward this factual e-mail to others who care about this country, so
they
  may see where it is going.

  Does anyone think this was the type of change Obama meant ---???
  Or, maybe it was.

SURPRISE:
For the "Nay Sayers" - the "Disbelievers" - the "Republican Bashers" -
and especially for the "BHO Cheering Section" ---

Kindly NOTE:
On 18 August 2009 - "The Wall Street Journal"
published the same news.

Obama Underwrites Offshore Drilling
Too bad it's not in  U.S.  waters.

You read that headline correctly.
Unfortunately, the Obama Administration is financing oil exploration
off Brazil .

The  U.S.  is going to lend billions of dollars to  Brazil 's
state-owned oil company ...

You can only wonder WHAT President Obama ---
 is getting out of this ---???

Armageddon Has Begun

Let me try to be a little more specific about what we do and don’t know!
 We know for sure these are the most uncertain of times! We know there are foul and malicious people who are desirous of doing a pincer number on any kind of freedom by the “public” at large and we have seen they will stop at nothing to get what they want if they even see the possibility of getting it! We know that these people have worked their way over a long pull of time into rich and powerful positions and that they today control uncounted numbers of self-centered fools!
 We know that America is currently at its all time lowest ebb by every conceivable measure. We know that what passes for ‘NEWS” is controlled conjecture which is hypothetical in the extreme yet the masses of properly “educated” fools swallow it rote and without the ability to question it! We know evil and greedy Men occupy most high places in society and that certainly includes the broad field of health those related matters.
 We know technology has far exceeded its potential applications for us in our lifetimes so far, no matter what our age! We know the military/industrial complex – as controlled by a figurative handful – is almost incomprehensible in its destructive and devastative capacities. We well know civilians are under the control of sinister forces which those people controlled lack the comprehension to ascertain!
 We know the people in government have as their predominate characteristic and nature, a seemingly insatiable greed!
 We KNOW THAT AMERICANS HAVE FORSAKEN THEIR GOD BY THEIR SEEKING OF STRANGE GODS OR NO GODS!
We do know there will be an Armageddon, an endtime. We know that Christ will return and he will rule over ALL! We know He will husband His “bride”.
 Now, what we do NOT know!
We do not know the day nor the hour of Christ’s return – we cannot therefore accurately predict it! We know neither how stern nor relaxed He will be in defining who will constitute that “bride”. We know ALL the faithful will not be saved from the onslaught of the endtime, we don’t understand the particulars.
 We know there are some who are upright and faithful enough to turn from evil AT ALL COSTS, but know not any dependable count! We therefore do not know who amongst those currently enlisted on the “OTHER SIDE” will “come home” during any all out assault by the wicked on those who would be the good.

 Mostly what we do not know concerns AMERICA and how we WILL GET RID OF THE OFFENDERS AND ASSEMBLE THOSE OF GOOD WILL UNDER THE BANNER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. We do not know from there the formulation of an effective and lasting defensive posture or – at the moment – how to even define such!
This is of course, a brief, but even from it, it becomes obvious that there is a great deal more that we know than we do NOT know yet, that which isunknown is far and away more vitally predominate of  the fate of our futures than that which is so much more clearly known!

~Hal~PS~ It is amazing how much more enjoyable a birthday can be when you are alone with your thoughts and your Great Guide at 73, rather than with false friends and pseudo family at 37!

Armageddon Has Begun

A Tale of Two Stories:

The European BioWar outbreak and the censoring of it by the mainstream news media.

The biggest story on the Planet today is the outbreak of a very serious Advanced Biological War virus in Europe.

The second biggest story on the Planet is the suppression of this story for almost two weeks by the corporate owned mainstream news media. There is a lot we know and a lot that we can only speculate on about what is unfolding in Central Europe.

~~~We know that in mid-October, less than a month ago, there was a growing number of cases of what many thought was Swine Flu (A/H1N1) in the western part of the Ukraine. ~~~We know that many hundreds if not thousands of people in western Ukraine witnessed low flying light airplanes aerosol spraying something over Ukrainian cities during the days of October 29, 2009 and October 31, 2009.
~~~We know that beginning the night of October 29th, massive numbers of people begin to get very sick.

~~~We know that the Ukraine government issued a statement denying that it was doing any aerial spraying to combat the growing disease or authorizing any spraying over Ukrainian cities.
~~~We know that by October 30th, the Ukrainian authorities closed all schools for three weeks and banded public gatherings.

~~~We do NOT know what disease the people were/are coming down with. We do know that doctors are describing the disease as Pneumonic Plague, or as some type of hemorrhagic fever, or as hemorrhagic influenza, or as hemorrhagic pneumonia.
~~~We know that the illness, whatever it is, does not appear to be A/H1N1. We do NOT know if the disease is a recombination of A/H1N1 with other viruses or some totally different virus or if it is in fact a virus.

We know that the World Health Organization (WHO) has had several days to sequence the genes of the disease but has failed to release this data.

~~~We know that WHO has NOT called for the quarantining of Ukraine or the shutdown of all global travel to/from the area of infection and that this is the same thing that they did when Mexican Swine Flu (A/H1N1) first broke out and that the failure to contain that virus early on ensured its spread throughout the world.
~~~We know that the internal temperature of the lungs of those with a terminal case of what many are calling 'Ukrainian Plague' is often from 130F to 135F. We do know that autopsies show that the lungs are filled with blood, and are black in color, and that the lung tissue has turned to mush. We know that patients who first show any signs of illness usually crash in less than 48 hours, sometimes the same day.
~~~We know that the disease was spreading by about 200,000 per day but that this has slowed to about 100,000 day now, in the Ukraine, as people take extraordinary steps to contain the spread of the disease. ~~~We know that well over one and a third million people in the Ukraine are very ill with the disease (according to published official sources) and that over 60,000 are hospitalized in serious to critical condition. ~~~We know that the disease has a very high transmission rate with a likely low amount of viral (if it is in fact a virus) material needed to cause an infection. We know that the official reports of deaths are under 300 in the Ukraine. We also know that it is normal for hospital admissions of people with ARI (acute respiratory infection) to have a fatality rate of from 5% to 10%. We know that non-official sources were reporting over 3,000 deaths several days ago and that this number is more in tune with the 5-10% fatality rate than the official figures.
~~~We do NOT know what effective treatments are for this illness. We do know that young adults seem to be more in danger of this illness. We suspect that 'cytokine storming' similar to that in the 1918 Spanish Flu, that killed approximately 50 million people, is taking place.
~~~We know from official Ukrainian Health Ministry reports that the illness does not test out as Mexican Swine Flu (A/H1N1). We do NOT know if the existing Swine Flu vaccine has any effect, but based on the non-positive response to Swine Flu in testing, we suspect that the vaccine is ineffective as the viral protean shell is different than A/H1N1 (if in fact it is a virus that causes the illness).
~~~We know that the illness has spread to Poland, where over one quarter of a million people are now very ill. We know that it has spread to Belarus and to Hungary and elsewhere in central Europe. We know that 900,000 people are said to have Swine Flu in Norway but we do NOT know if this is related to Ukraine Plague in any way.

~~~We know that on November 8th a South African site (fto.co.za) carried the following:
   "Suspicious aircraft were forced to land. A US operated (Russian-made long-range heavy transport) AN-124 changed its call sign from civilian to military which then triggered a response from the IAF (Indian Air Force) upon entering Pakistani air space (forcing) the plane to land in Mumbai while (a) second one was forced down by Nigerian fighter jets that also arrested the crew."
   "According to reports, China's People's Liberation Army Air Force contacted the Indian and Nigerian intelligence officials about the presence of these US operated Ukrainian aircraft amidst growing concern that the United States was spreading 'biological agents' in the Earth's atmosphere, which some Chinese officials believed to be an attempt to (commit) mass genocide via the spread of H1N1 swine flu."
    These aircraft "were carrying 'waste disposal' systems that could spray up to 45,000kg (nearly 100,000 pounds) of aerial type mist from sophisticated....nano pipes" in the planes' wings - called chemtrails.
~~~We know that Baxter International Pharmaceuticals sent 72 kilos of human influenza H3N2 vaccine materials to 16 labs in European nations which contained live H5N1 Bird Flu viruses. We know that this was only discovered when a Czech lab tested the material on several ferrets (ferrets have a similar respiratory system to humans) and all of the ferrets died in short order. We know that Baxter claimed that this was human error. We ALSO know that such a 'human error' is basically impossible with the containment protocols in place at Baxter and any other modern biolabs using Biosafety Level 3 (BLS-3) lab technology.

~~~We know that in mid-August a Joseph Moshe, who is a Mossad biological warfare expert, called in to Dr.A.True Ott's national radio talk show and reported that Baxter was getting ready to release a deadly plague from its Ukrainian lab and that he was shortly meeting with US Attorneys in Los Angles to give evidence about this. We know that shortly thereafter Moshe was apprehended by Federal agents and LA police and taken to the Israeli Consulate. We know that he was quickly flown to Israel and that no further word has come from him.
~~~We know that over the last three or so years a large number of biological experts, from a number of places all over the world, have died strange deaths and that this has been commented on by various publications in the past.

~~~We know that the sudden appearance of Mexican Swine Flu (A/H1N1) virtually had to have been a release from a biological warfare lab. We know that A/H1N1 has gene sequences from three different types (American, Asian, and African) of Swine Flu, of Bird Flu, of two different types of human seasonal flu, and of Spanish Flu and that such a recombination is so unlikely in nature as to be virtually impossible. We know that the WHO policies of not requiring a major quarantine of Mexico ensured that A/H1N1 would spread throughout the world.
~~~We know that the current Swine Flu "Vaccine" is almost totally untested, and that the manufactures are protected from lawsuits for even deliberate acts that result in deaths and that nations acquiring the vaccines are required to sign contracts agreeing not to release negative information on the "vaccine" to the public. We know that published additives to the "vaccine" include highly dangerous-to-human-health substances.

~~~We know that the corporate owned mainstream news media (with strong links to global banking families) have censored this story in a way that has never happen before.
~~~We know that the outbreak of a unknown but deadly and very rapidly spreading disease in Europe is the largest story on Earth............. but that it is NOT being reported on.

Here's Some Information About Health Care

CMS: House health bill will hike costs $289B

By Molly K. Hooper - 11/14/09 03:42 PM ET
The House-approved healthcare overhaul would raise the costs of healthcare by $289 billion over the next 10 years, according to an analysis by the chief actuary at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The CMS report is a blow to the White House and House Democrats who have vowed that healthcare reform would curb the growth of healthcare spending. CMS's analysis is not an apples-to-apples comparison to the cost estimate conducted by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) because CMS did not review tax provisions, which help offset the price tag of the Democrats' measure.

However, the CMS analysis clearly states that the House bill falls short in attaining a key goal of the Democrats' effort to reform the nation's healthcare system: "With the exception of the proposed reduction in Medicare... the provisions of H.R. 3962 would not have a significant impact on future healthcare cost growth rates."  Read more>>

D. Fitzgerald Responce to C.C. Bondermann‏

No, I have not read Palos's Health Care bill. Nor have I read the original
bill, or subsequent bills after changes, additions, deletions.
Unfortunately, when a bill is submitted to Congress, normally the end result
does not even remotely resemble the original. Plus most Senators and
Representatives, Republicans and Democrats alike, have to add their little
bit of Pork. All I do know is that, unfortunately, we do need a National
Health Care System. What we have now is not working. Our government is not
working, as it should, as it was intended. In the beginning, it was
"Government of the People, By the People, and For the People". Can you in
truth say that is the way our Government now works. Our Senators and
Representatives, present and retired, who can afford to pay for their own
health care, enjoy the best health care, all curtsey of the taxpayers who
elected them into office, to represent them and work for them. They give
themselves pay increases while saying the government cannot afford to give
an increase in Social Security benefits. And why is Social Security running
our of money. Would it be because the government has raided it, time and
time again.
Our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will also be paying for
GO.W. Bush's war. For G.W. Bush's tax benefits to 'big oil' and to the first
lenders bailout's. That bothers me and does any frivolous spending. I was
born in 1931. I am a depression baby. I lived through World War One, when
our motto was "wear it out, use it up, make it do, or do without". And that
has been my way of life. So when you say that I do not care. You bet that I
care; about our national debt, about those homeless because facilities for
the mentally deficient have been closed due to lack of funding. A Boy Scout
Camp may be closing due to lack of funds to keep it open, yet we just
approved a 1.2 Million Dollar Grant, plus $30,200.00 local bond to extend a
trail for 2 miles. And that makes sense?

I was speaking with someone who made a living trucking. He said that
truckers pay the highest Excise Tax for their vehicles and use more gas per
mile; that translates to paying more gas tax. Gas taxes that are supposed to
pay for road maintenance and repairs. Yet truckers are not permitted to use
certain roads and highways, plus some roads in the spring, thereby
curtailing their income. And the government thinks this is fair? Farmers in
the mid-west and south were and some perhaps even now, are paid to NOT grow
crops. But does our government pay our truckers to NOT drive? to NOT use
roads they pay dearly to keep maintained and repaired? Does our government
pay our fishermen and women to NOT fish? C. C. Bondermann says I do not care
how the Obama administration is marching to the beat of a different drummer.
I did not vote for Obama. I am a registered Democrat who has voted time and
time again for both Senators Collins and Snowe. I have even voted
independent. I am proud to be an independent-minded Mainer. I am not always
right. But I am not always wrong either. I do not know Pelosi's wealth, nor
do know the wealth of anyone in Congress. Their wealth should not even come
into play when making decisions for the good of our Country and it's people.
Unfortunately, those who make the decisions and the very wealthy forget
there are just regular people, people like you and I, struggling to make a
living and to live day by day. Those who are fortunate to have good jobs
with annual pay increases and great health benefits forget tend to forget
about those who do not.
And I DID read all of your letter but so as to not bore the public, am
responding to just a part of it.

RELEASE No. 20091110-03
Soldiers pass on firefighting knowledge to Iraqis
By Staff Sgt. Mark Burrell
MND-B PAO

BAGHDAD – An Iraqi firefighter feigns death and lies on the ground inside of a mock building to simulate a smoke-inhalation victim. His teammates, their vision obscured to simulate smoke-blindness, crawl along the ground with oxygen tanks strapped to their backs.
            All of a sudden, Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment scream at the trainees to recreate the chaos inside in a burning building.
            “You gotta respect the fire,” admitted Spc. Kevin Fregia, a hazardous materials specialist. “Yeah, you’re going to be scared, but you gotta have confidence and the knowledge to do what you have to do.”
            This is all part of a firefighting class at Joint Security Station Ur that Fregia, and another Soldier with a firefighting background, held, Nov. 8, for nearly 20 Iraqi firefighters from the 29th Center for Defense, based just west of Sadr City, here.
            The class taught the Iraqis how to properly don and use their equipment, feel for back drafts on a door, enter a burning building, find and recover victims, and how to extinguish a blaze with a fire hose, explained Cpl. John Curtis, a combat medic from Lisbon, Maine.
            “Some of the things we taught them, like the technical stuff, they weren’t too comfortable with,” added Curtis. “But after running through some scenarios a few times, they were good.”
            Curtis, the lead instructor for the course, added that even though these Iraqis have been working as firefighters for a few years in some cases, he wanted to focus on their equipment first.
            “You want to make sure they know how to use it and how it works,” he continued. “Then run them through a few scenarios and let them problem solve before we make corrections…Next, we blindfolded them with bags that simulates smoke and a fire, so they have to really feel around and communicate with each other.”
            The Iraqis were eager to learn and jumped in at every opportunity to ask questions and display what they have learned in the past.
            “Actually, being able to see them use their own gear and knowledge with me just pushing them along the way is a great feeling,” said Curtis. “I’ve seen a lot of improvement today…If you get the tactical and technical aspects down, then you’re going to have confidence to go in there and save some lives.”
            Curtis knows this from firsthand experience. He has been around firefighters all his life; his father was on the fire department and he joined as a volunteer when he was only 16 years old. After becoming a certified firefighter, he attended special classes such as water and vehicle rescue before joining the military.
            From his experiences, Curtis knows that the right training can be the difference between saving a victim or becoming one.
            “One of these guys may save somebody else’s life or their own life with the training that we’re giving them,” said Fregia, a native of Orange, Texas, who has over ten years of firefighting experience.
            “It feels great to pass on your knowledge to other people,” he continued. “This training is the greatest feeling to teach them something you know that they wouldn’t have gotten elsewhere.”
            According to Hussan Nawim Hussein, who has been fighting fires in Baghdad since 2005, the incidents they deal with are fires from oil wells, buildings, homes, but mostly explosions.
            “I’m never scared because it’s my job,” said Hussan. “The main goal is to save people’s lives and I feel brave and very proud because I’ve saved some people’s lives.”
       Hussan and his fellow firefighters agreed that the U.S. Soldiers taught them all something helpful.
       “I think they were having a lot of fun and learning a lot, they would have stayed all day if they could have,” said Fregia.
        “I’ve seen a lot of improvement,” agreed Curtis. “We’re really not providing them with anything except for knowledge.”
       Both instructors worked together to change up the scenarios and let different firefighters participate, but after a few hours, the radios crackled and the Iraqis received an emergency call.
       “Doing firefighting, you got it in your blood,” said Fregia as he watched them scramble to pack up their gear. “Seeing them get a call and take off; I wanted to go…But being able to pass off my knowledge and take care of them is a great feeling.”
       The firefighters from 29th Center for Defense quickly jumped on their fire engines, flipped on flashing red lights and sped off to put their newly-honed skills into use, hopefully saving lives in a trial by fire.

A Reader Writes About Another Readers Letter

In response to Ms. Dot Fitzgerald's letter criticizing my article in Tuesday's LISBON REPORTER,  regarding the American worker and the Pelosi health care bill ...... it is quite obvious she didn't bother to read the entire article or she wouldn't have said what she did in the first paragraph of her ill thought out reply.

She is as delusional about the Pelsoi health care bill as Mike Michaud  and Chellie Pengree was in voting for it.  It is particularly disturbing that Michaud voted for it considering his background in Unionism. I would guess I'm 100% correct in stating that neither Ms. Fitzgerald, Michaud, nor Pengree, read the 2000+ page document.

Wake up Ms. Fitzgerald.  The Pelosi bill is NOT about health care, it's about CONTROL!  Control by the central government in Washington over not only one sixth of our national economy, but control over the lives of all Americans by a socialized central government analogous to those in Europe.

Ms. Fitzgerald  obviously does not care how the Obama administration is marching to the beat of a different drummer than those brave men who gave their lives in pursuit of her freedom at Lexington and Concord in April of 1775.

I guess Ms. Fitzgerald doesn't care if her children and grand children inherit a national debt whose interest on that debt in just a few shot decades will equal the gross income of the U. S. Treasury; if such unchecked government spending such as the Pelosi health care bill and the cap and trade bill isn't stopped dead in their tracks ... NOW !

I wonder if Ms. Fitzgerald will be the first to complain when she needs a hip replacement, but cannot receive it because some bureaucrat in Washington decides she is not eligible for that particular operation.  Read the Pelosi bill Ms. Fitzgerald, and stop whining about the companies who provide jobs for working Americans. What few jobs we now have will be jettisoned off shore if bills like the Pelosi health care bill and the Obama cap and trade bill become a reality.

It is quite obvious that Ms. Fitzgerald puts her political affiliation before her country and the welfare of her fellow Americans.  As far as those dastardly business executives she rants about are concerned ....  our own state would be much, much better off if we had someone of true business experience in the Blaine House and not a career politician.

I wonder if she would stop her whinning about 'business executives' if she knew that the Pelosi family has a net worth of over $20 million dollars, largely from San Francisco bay area real estate, vineyards in St. Helena, California, and mega millions in Apple Computer.  Care to look up who the Pelosi family hires in their businesses, Ms. Fitzgearld?  I bet you won't, because if you did you would find out that the pot is calling the kettle black.

Mother Russia woke up after 82 years of Marxism to realize they couldn't make it on the world economic scene without those "big business executives"  that Ms. Fitzgerald complains about. That same ghastly shadow that permeated Moscow during the years of 1903 through 1912 are beginning to emanate from Washington.  With myopic thinking people like Ms. Fitzgerald, America might be seeing that same scenario over the next eight years.

Lets pray to God we don't!

A Reader writes about American Workers need to wake up

In response to the American Workers Wake Up:
Union workers do not want to hear about a National Health Care Plan as
they already have great health insurances.
But how about the rest of the people who DO NOT have your great health care policies?
How many Big Business' hire full time employees? Very few. Why?
So they do not have to pay for health care benefits for their employees!

That is one if the things that is wrong with our country; CEO'S that are more
 concerned with their enormous pay and bonuses.
Where would these CEO'S be without their employees? The
employees are the ones that are responsible for their enormous paychecks and bonuses.?

All one has to do now that there is a National Health Care on the horizon, is
watch the insurance companies promoting their companies on television. Think
maybe they are a little concerned they may be losing some business, and
along with it, some of their multi-million dollar bonuses?

While I'm at it, yesterday I called the local offices of Representative
"Michael Michaud, Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, and said that "I
would hope that anyone in Congress that would vote against a National Health
Care bill would, in good conscience forego their best-in-the-nation,
taxpayer-paid, 100% health care."

I urge all to call the following at their local offices with the same
message:

Rep. Michael Michaud:     207-782-3704
Senator Olympia Snowe:   207-786-2451
Senator Susan Collins:    207-784-6969

WASHINGTON POLITICAL GAMES WILL NOT SOLVE HEALTH CARE

LEVESQUE: WASHINGTON POLITICAL GAMES
WILL NOT SOLVE HEALTH CARE

Bangor, ME (Nov. 10, 2009) – Rep, Mike Michaud failed Maine people by voting for a bill which he says he “finds problematic” instead of standing up for what is right, said Maine 2nd Congressional District candidate Jason J. Levesque.
Levesque responded to statements Michaud made Tuesday morning on a Bangor radio station where the congressman said he actually thinks the House bill shortchanges Maine. Michaud says he told President Obama of his concerns yet voted for the bill when it came up on the floor Saturday night.

“Congressman Michaud’s job is to represent the people of Maine.  However, by his own admission, he knows this is bad for Maine taxpayers, bad for seniors and bad for the quality of healthcare but voted for it anyway because he was told to.  This is a breach of trust the people of the 2nd District gave him when they hired him for this job and he should be held accountable,” Levesque said.

Levesque said Maine senior citizens will suffer because $500-billion is taken away from Medicare and two-thirds of seniors are dropped from Medicare Advantage in order to pay for the House health plan. The State of Maine loses $800-million with the bill which Michaud supported.

“That’s especially harmful in our state which has one of the oldest populations in the country,” Levesque said.

On the radio station Tuesday morning, Michaud admitted that Maine suffers from the Medicare cuts in the bill but he trusted Washington insiders’ promises that he can present his case later.

“That’s ridiculous! It should have been a non-starter and Mike Michaud should have held firm that if his vote was so important then they should put it in writing. Instead, he sold out the people of Maine,” Levesque said.

Michaud did not stand up and speak out in floor debate about the problems in the bill, he didn’t take his case to the people to explain why this bad bill hurts them and he should oppose it, he didn’t use his meetings with the President or the Speaker to get needed changes in the bill benefiting Maine people.  The bill passed by only five votes and 39 fiscally-conservative Blue Dog Democrats voted against it.

“Mike Michaud proved he’s not really a Blue Dog but a Lap Dog for Nancy Pelosi and the big government wing of his party. He admitted as much on the radio this morning that he failed the working families, senior citizens and small business people of Maine,” Levesque said.
Levesque said the bill does nothing to contain health care costs and is a giant government power grab.
 “The bill doesn’t reform anything and will cost at least $1.4-trillion over its first ten years. We can’t trust the government to hold to that figure when we see its prior track record. We can’t afford the Washington way of waste, fraud and abuse to take over our health care system too,” he said.
Levesque said the House bill hurts working families and small business people by adding billions of dollars in new taxes and imperiling employment with the impact of 5.5-million lost jobs.
“This is unconscionable when the 2nd District reels from double-digit unemployment and Mike Michaud’s hometown, Millinocket, has one of the highest rates in the country at 14.5-percent,” he said.
Levesque said the House bill will actually make it more expensive and difficult for small business people to provide coverage.
“As a businessman, I’m personally affected by this plan from Washington. Instead of making it easier for small business people to do the right thing for their employees, Congress is making it more difficult,” he said.

Levesque said health care reform could be achieved with a far less-expensive plan which would:
 - Open up insurance markets to sell coverage across state lines and give small businesses and the self-insured a chance to shop for lower rates. Today, purchasers are legally-barred from comparison shopping for the best rates out-of-state.
- Take serious steps to reform the legal system which adds to costs by forcing doctors to practice preventative medicine with unnecessary and expensive procedures just to avoid frivolous lawsuits. Trial lawyers have managed to kill every attempt at consumer protection through tort reform.
- Keep hands off Medicare instead of reducing payments to doctors, causing many elderly to lose access to health care options and specialized coverage.
- Create medical school incentives to bring more health practitioners to rural areas.
- Encourage competition in the health insurance industry instead of creating a government insurance company with an unfair competitive edge, which will eventually end private insurance and drive up costs with a new government bureaucracy running health coverage.
- Allow people to keep the coverage they now have and do not prohibit the choice of insurer when one changes jobs or starts a business.
- Provide incentives to employers to invest in wellness programs which make employees healthier and more productive while reducing their need for expensive health treatments. This comes at a cost which is too expensive for many small employers unless they get tax incentives.
- Create real cost containment by empowering health care consumers to make wise decisions of how they spend health care dollars through full health service pricing disclosure in a clearly understandable manner.

We still have a chance to force our Congressman to do what is right and voting no on the final bill. He has already put politics before people; let’s tell him, it’s the people that come first.  We need health care reform, but we need reform that will actually reduce costs, increase access for those in rural areas and maintain the high quality of care we have come to appreciate,” Levesque told the Maine Federation of Republican Women meeting in Bangor on Tuesday.

Lisbon – On Monday, November 9, the Lisbon School Committee rescinded the Interim Superintendent status and approved Richard Green as Superintendent of the Lisbon School Department for the 2009-2010 school year.  “Mr. Green is a skilled educational leader,” comments Prudence Grant, Chair of the Lisbon School Department.    “He has worked with others to create a foundation for our efforts to become an even higher performing and more efficient organization.  Mr. Green easily met the demands of the Interim position which he had assumed on July 1, 2009 after having been appointed by the Lisbon School Committee on April 13th of this year.”
As part of the new Lisbon School Department superintendency which involves one third curriculum time, Green has focused on areas of the curriculum and establishing communication with existing curriculum teams. It is the intention of the School Committee and Green that both the curriculum foundation and the framework which have already been laid will continue seamlessly into next year.
“Communication and involvement have been very important during this time of change and transition.  Green has met with various staff, teams and work groups from administrators, central office staff, teachers, nurses and support staff, custodians, bus drivers and cafeteria workers in an effort to familiarize himself with the unique contributions each group makes to the Lisbon School System. Those strategies made the start of the school year a smooth event,” according to Grant.
“In the time since Green’s appointment in April, he has been thinking creatively and outside the box,” shares Grant.  “So far his ideas have been visionary and exciting.  He has brought the various groups together and improved morale.  Because of all those qualities and efforts and because his first evaluation has been completed, the School Committee believed there was no reason to extend the Interim title beyond this month.”
