Republican Liberty Caucus: RICHARDSON ENDORSED IN MAINE 2nd CD

AUGUSTA, ME (May 17, 2012) – Blaine Richardson won endorsement of the Republican Liberty Caucus National Committee in his GOP primary for the 2nd Congressional District seat from Maine.
“Blaine Richardson has demonstrated leadership in military and civilian life which is an asset for a member of Congress,” said RLC National Chair Dave Nalle. “Receiving the Republican Liberty Caucus endorsement is a testament to his commitment to the principles of individual liberty, limited government, and free enterprise.”
Richardson’s endorsement will be announced to Liberty Republicans nationally, presenting him as the best candidate to defeat Democrat Rep. Mike Michaud in November.
The Maine RLC Chapter voted unanimously during its state meeting to recommend that Richardson be endorsed and the RLC National Committee endorsement vote was unanimous. RLC bylaws require that federal office endorsements be made by the National Committee upon recommendation of the state chapter. The state chapters may endorse legislative and gubernatorial candidates without input from the national organization.
“Blaine Richardson is the kind of leader Maine needs to take an active role in Washington to turn the economy around and restore personal liberty. I am pleased that the RLC National Committee saw these qualities. He will be a great Republican candidate and an outstanding Congressman,” said Maine RLC Chair R. Kenneth Lindell of Frankfort, a former member of the Maine legislature.
Lindell said, “Blaine Richardson had a distinguished military career, including time advising the Pentagon on national defense issues. Yet he saw dangers in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which gives the President power to detain and hold civilians indefinitely and spoke out against it because it violates the Constitution. We need more people with Blaine’s integrity in Washington.”
Nalle added, “At the Republican Liberty Caucus we believe that less government means more liberty. We advocate the principles of individual rights, limited government, and free enterprise. We work in the Republican Party because we believe it is the best vehicle for bringing about the political changes we want and we believe that Blaine Richardson will become part of the growing number of Liberty Republicans advancing those goals in Washington.”
Blaine Richardson retired with the rank of Captain after a distinguished 30 year career in the US Navy. He was an aviator who saw duty in four conflicts and holds one of the highest security clearances to advise at the highest levels of the Defense Department.  Richardson worked his way up from flight school during the Vietnam War. During the Iraqi conflict in 2003, he was the Military Liaison Officer for Military Sealift Command which was responsible for the 216 ships which brought cargo and supplies to ports in Kuwait and Iraq.
He was the Naval Liaison Officer to the State of Maine under both Governors McKernan and King. He was appointed by Governor McKernan, to the committee to oversee the DEP's implementation of hazardous chemical and waste reduction regulations. During the first Gulf War, his unit out of Bangor was the first one to be called up and he was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, where Richardson was responsible for shipping General Schwarzkopf ‘s 7th Corps. During Haiti under President Clinton, he was called up to organize the immense relief effort by sea.
Richardson returned to Maine when he ended his military career and became a job-producing businessman. He was involved in his family's greenhouse business - The Green Thumb - in Rockport for ten years, then moved on to become Code Enforcement Officer in Rockport. In 2000 he moved to Belfast and started his own construction company - The B. Richardson Company - working with his wife Laura, an interior designer, building and renovating houses.
Richardson is a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Founded in 1991, Republican Liberty Caucus is a nationwide grassroots IRS Section 527 political organization registered with the Federal Election Commission, made up of libertarian-leaning Republicans who work within the party for policies which promote smaller government and individual liberty.
Current members of Congress who had won RLC endorsement include Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, Rep. Jeff Flake of Arizona and Rep. Tom McClintock of California.
Maine Gov. Paul LePage was endorsed in the 2010 GOP primary by the Maine RLC as well as five State Senators and seven members of the Maine House.

WHO'S YOUR DADDY? Film: President's father not Barack Obama

2 years of research, rare photos support compelling case

Dreams from My Real Father (DVD)

Directed by Joel Gilbert

Want to read Obama’s official version of his life story? Click here.

Product Description

At age 18, Barack Obama admittedly arrived at Occidental College a committed revolutionary Marxist. What was the source of Obama’s foundation in Marxism?
Throughout his 2008 Presidential campaign and term in office, questions have been raised regarding Barack Obama's family background, economic philosophy, and fundamental political ideology. Dreams from My Real Father is the alternative Barack Obama “autobiography,” offering a divergent theory of what may have shaped our 44th President’s life and politics.

In Dreams from My Real Father, Barack Obama is portrayed by a voiceover actor who chronicles Barack Obama's life journey in socialism, from birth through his election to the Presidency. The film begins by presenting the case that Barack Obama's real father was Frank Marshall Davis, a Communist Party USA propagandist who likely shaped Obama’s world view during his formative years. Barack Obama sold himself to America as the multi-cultural ideal, a man who stood above politics. Was the goat herding Kenyan father only a fairy tale to obscure a Marxist agenda, irreconcilable with American values?

This fascinating narrative is based in part on 2 years of research, interviews, newly unearthed footage and photos, and the writings of Davis and Obama himself. Dreams of My Real Father weaves together the proven facts with reasoned logic and speculation in an attempt to fill-in the obvious gaps in Obama’s history. Is this the story Barack Obama should have told, revealing his true agenda for “fundamentally transforming America?”

Director Joel Gilbert concludes, "The ‘Birthers’ have been on a fool's errand. To understand Obama's plans for America, the question is not ‘Where’s the Birth Certificate?,’ the question is ‘Who is the real father?’”

Director Joel Gilbert Biography

Joel Gilbert is the president of Highway 61 Entertainment in Los Angeles. He is the writer and director of Atomic Jihad: Ahmadinejad's Coming War for Islamic Revival and Obama's Politics of Defeat (2010) and Farewell Israel: Bush, Iran and the Revolt of Islam (2008), a history of Islamic-Jewish conflict from the 7th Century. Atomic Jihad was featured at the CPAC Conference in Washington D.C. and was a winning film at the Hudson Institute Film Festival in 2010.

Gilbert is a contributing editor for the national security and foreign policy website familysecuritymatters.org, and appears frequently as a foreign policy analyst on national radio shows, including The Jerry Doyle Show and The Michael Reagan Show. Gilbert has lectured on Islamism for the Hudson Institute Briefing Council and toured the US and Canada screening his films and lecturing on the Middle East. Gilbert is a graduate of the University of London (London School of Economics and Political Science, School of Oriental and African Studies, BA 1986) and George Washington University (MBA 1991).

Space Station flying over the Northern Lights; Alone In The Night ---> Time-lapse footage of Earth as seen from the ISS

Flying Over the Earth at Night

 Compilation: Bitmeizer (YouTube);

Music:
Freedom Fighters (Two Steps from Hell

Explanation: Many wonders are visible when flying over the Earth at night. A compilation of such visual spectacles was captured recently from the International Space Station (ISS) and set to rousing music. Passing below are white clouds, orange city lights, lightning flashes in thunderstorms, and dark blue seas. On the horizon is the golden haze of Earth's thin atmosphere, frequently decorated by dancing auroras as the video progresses. The green parts of auroras typically remain below the space station, but the station flies right through the red and purple auroral peaks. Solar panels of the ISS are seen around the frame edges. The ominous wave of approaching brightness at the end of each sequence is just the dawn of the sunlit half of Earth, a dawn that occurs every 90 minutes

David T. Brooks Is Lisbon's Own Drone; BrasscheckTV: Instruments of war to be used domestically‏

Lisbon,

Despite promises that the 2012 NDAA wouldn't apply to military
operations on U.S. soil or be used against American Citizens,
Congressional Record makes it clear the act will deploy military
drones controlled by NASA and the DOJ under authorization contained
with the 2012 NDAA.

It's NOT just about privacy, which is a worthy concern on its own,
but it is also about using the military and military equipment
against American citizens.

Krauthammer On Drones Flying In US: "Stop It Here, Stop It Now"

"I'm going to go hard left on you here, I'm going ACLU," syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said in opposition to the use of drones on the U.S. homeland. "I don't want regulations, I don't want restrictions, I want a ban on this. Drones are instruments of war. The Founders had a great aversion to any instruments of war, the use of the military inside even the United States. It didn't like standing armies, it has all kinds of statutes of using the army in the country."

"A drone is a high-tech version of an old army and a musket. It ought to be used in Somalia to hunt bad guys but not in America. I don't want to see it hovering over anybody's home. Yes, you can say we have satellites, we've got Google Street View and London has a camera on every street corner but that's not an excuse to cave in on everything else and accept a society where you're always under -- being watched by the government. This is not what we want," Krauthammer said on the panel portion of FOX News' "Special Report."

"I would say that you ban it under all circumstances and I would predict, I'm not encouraging, but I an predicting that the first guy who uses a Second Amendment weapon to bring a drone down that's been hovering over his house is going to be a folk hero in this country," Krauthammer said tonight.

"I would say the price of liberty. You can hear a helicopter, you can't hear a drone. You know, if you hear a helicopter you hide under a bush. Well, you can't with this which is why it's effective in Pakistan and elsewhere. It's deft and it's silent. I don't think we want a society where if there are the objects, hovering over streaming, real-time information about you, your family, your car, your location," Krauthammer said later in the segment.

"It's not worth it," he said.

"The Founders we're deeply opposed to the militarization of civil society. There is all kinds of aversions to it and this is importing it because, as you say, it's cheap, it's easy, it's silent. It's something that you can easily deploy. It's going to be, I think the bane of our existence. Stop it here, stop it now," Krauthammer said at the end of the panel segment. "Strong letter to follow."

Here's Some Healthful News; The Maine WIRE: Individual health insurance rates set to drop by up to 60% as a result of Maine health care reform‏

Individual health insurance rates set to drop by up to 60% as a result of Maine health care reform

There is encouraging news for Mainers coming out of the health care industry. Rates for individual health care plans in Maine are set to drop as much as 60% this July as a result of health reform law PL 90, also known as LD 1333, adopted in March 2011.

PL 90, the free market based health reform law, was passed last March by a Republican majority in Maine’s legislature. Governor Paul LePage signed the bill in a ceremony at the statehouse amid cries from Democrats that it wasn’t right for Maine.

“The law takes Maine in the wrong direction,” said Emily Cain, the house Democrat leader, at the time the bill was passed. But, if you’re a Mainer looking for individual health coverage, you’re probably going to be encouraged by the direction private health care costs are going – down.

“Since the law took effect this past October, we have primarily seen the laws impact to Maine’s small group insurance market with the vast majority seeing lower premiums,” said Joel Allumbaugh, President of the Maine Association of Health Underwriters and Health Care expert at the Maine Heritage Policy Center. “Now we are seeing huge progress in the individual insurance market as well, with rate decreases up to 60%, it’s a huge step forward for Maine.”

The rate filing, submitted this week by Anthem, the primary insurer offering individual plans in Maine, is not yet official. The rates would take effect in July, but first must be approved the state Insurance Superintendent. If the rates do take affect, it will be a relief for those paying for private individual insurance, or those who want to purchase a plan.

PL 90, the health reform law that Republicans guided through the legislature despite passionate opposition from Democrats, expanded the “rate bands” to allow a wider variation in cost between different aged applicants. In the past, insurance companies had to treat a 21-year-old and 55-year-old as basically the same. The new law allows for distinction in age groups.

Democrat Representative Sharon Treat was one of the strongest advocates against PL 90 during the debate about the health reform law. “Unfortunately, in the rush to pass LD 1333 [PL 90], the Republican majority is creating obstacles to better coverage and reduced costs,” she said at the time.
Now, it’s becoming evident that reducing costs to individuals is exactly what the law has done.

Even the “closed book” plans, which are individual plans that are renewing, versus brand new plans, are seeing benefits from the new law. In the past, the policies in the “closed book” category have seen yearly increases well above 10% annually. In the July Anthem filing, the average rate increase is just 1.7%, good news for those already holding individual policies.

Some of the new plans being offered in the individual market by Anthem, called the “HealthChoice Plus Product” include mental health services at no extra cost, when in the past the plans required a “rider” which raised rates by as much as 30%. Not only do the new plans cover mental health, they costs significantly less.

HealthChoice* $2,250 Deductible w/o Mental Health Vs. New Healthchoice Plus $2,000 Deductible w/Mental Health

A current plan, for a 45 to 49-year- old with a $2,250 deductible, without covering mental health, and without the effects of the health care reform law, would cost $601 per month for just one person. The new plan, which covers mental health, would have a $2,000 deductible and cost the individual just $362 per month, a 40% rate decrease according to the Bureau of Insurance.

For the plan holder 60-years-old and over, the current plan would cost $859 per month. As a result of the health reform law, the new plan would cost $645, a 28 percent decrease per month.

This is before new competition enters the fray, a likely scenario that the new law makes possible. Allumbaugh said that he anticipates additional insurers will enter the market, but are not prepared to offer products as early as July.

When new competition does enter the market, it would drive rate even lower, according to Allumbaugh.

Young people are big winners in the rate decreases. A 19 to 24-year-old will be able to purchase a health plan with a $2,000 deductible for about $200 per month, a significantly more affordable option than the current $450 per month for a similar plan. For many, this may be the difference between not being able to afford health care, and holding their own private policy.

A 19 to 24-year-old with a higher deductible of $10,000 could carry a policy for just $100 a month, less than the going rate to pay for a typical monthly iPhone plan. This could be especially important for those in that age bracket who may no longer qualify for MaineCare if cuts are passed in the supplemental budget being voted on this week to close an $80 million budget gap.

“Getting more young people into the market is a major plus for all Mainers and was a primary goal of the law,” Allumbaugh notes. “As this happens, the claims experience tends to improve and it can lower the rates even further for all age groups,” Allumbaugh said.

“This is precisely the impact the health reform law aimed for, lowering rates generally, but in a way that helps our insurance markets reverse the death spiral and begin to grow.”

It was going to be 100 ft tall and 400 ft wide, with 9 gun turrets at various heights, and windows all over the place and a loud outdoor sound system. It would have parking for 200 cars, and I was going to paint it forest green with gold trim.

Air Force Pilot Ace: Honor Iraq War Heroes this Memorial Day‏

Dear Fellow American,

Memorial Day is quickly approaching, and to most Americans, this means the beginning of summer. In reality, it's the one day of the year we dedicate to remembering those who gave all to protect the freedoms we cherish. As you plan your first barbecue of the season and prepare for the warm weather, I urge you to keep in mind the real reason we celebrate Memorial Day: to pay tribute to America's veterans and fallen soldiers.

Throughout my career in the Air Force, I logged more than 800 combat hours in the F-4 Phantom during 339 missions over Southeast Asia. I'm proud to be the only Air Force Pilot Ace of the air war in Vietnam, but what makes me the proudest is knowing that title is the result of many, many devoted people working together. Anyone whose ever served in combat knows someone who gave his our her life for Our Country. I'm certainly no exception. I remember each and every man I served with in Vietnam who did not return home.

This is why I've become involved in the veterans' community and today serve on the advisory board of the American Veterans Center, the organization that coordinates the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC. I'm writing today because this year's parade is our first public opportunity to honor our newest generation of veterans—the young men and women who bravely served in Iraq, sacrificing family relationships, jobs, and economic stability to go off and fight for our country.

Will you join me in paying tribute to our Iraq War veterans—and all of American's veterans and active duty service members—by marching in the National Memorial Day Parade on May 28?
You can't come all the way to Washington, DC, you say? You don't have to travel to take part in this special tribute, because we're holding a virtual parade online! Follow this link to register, select your avatar and join thousands of patriots across our nation to honor America's veterans from the Revolutionary War up to the Iraq War.

After you complete your registration, please make a generous tax-deductible contribution to support the American Veterans Center's efforts throughout the year, including events for wounded veterans at Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval Hospital, programs to educate our youth about the history of America's veterans and their legacy, and the publication of American Valor Quarterly.

Freedom isn't free, but for nearly 70 years, Washington, DC, was without a parade on our Armed Services' most sacred day. In 2005, the American Veterans Center revived the tradition of a Memorial Day parade in our nation's capital, and today it serves two vital civic purposes: to give the general public the opportunity to honor our services members and pay tribute to our veterans, while allowing active duty troops, veterans, and reenactors showcase the sacrifice of all our veterans in an exciting procession of American history the whole family can enjoy.

Whether you live in the Washington Metro Area and plan to attend this year's parade or you live as far away as Hawaii or Alaska, I encourage you to join us on May 28, 2012, to honor America's veterans, including the 4487 America services members who gave their lives in the Iraq War.

Please follow this link to register for the virtual Memorial Day parade
and join thousands of veterans, active duty troops and civilians across America to pay tribute to our veterans. Then please make the most generous, tax-deductible contribution you can afford to the American Veterans Center to support the parade and our activities throughout the year.

With your support and participation in the virtual parade, we'll promote our veterans' legacy, remember those who gave all, and preserve their sacrifices. Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,

R. Steve Ritchie
Brigadier General, U.S. Air Force, Ret.
Marshal, National Memorial Day Parade

P.S. Celebrate Memorial Day 2012 and honor America's veterans and active duty troops by marching in the National Memorial Day Parade—online. Follow this link to register, select your avatar, and join millions of your fellow patriots on May 28, 2012. After you register for the virtual parade, I hope you'll make a generous tax-deductible contribution to support the efforts of the American Veterans Center.

The mission of The American Veterans Center is to preserve the legacy of our veterans and part of the mission is accomplished by communicating the sacrifice that our veterans have made to the public, and in particular, to younger generations.

Contributions to The American Veterans Center are tax-deductible.

LIES, LIEING, LIARS We Are ALL Victims; IMVA: Seismologist Casts a Shadow

Posted by Mark Sircus - Director

University of Tokyo seismologist Shinichi Sakai has very bad news for the human race. Sakai is a prominent Japanese seismologist who is predicting a major earthquake to hit Tokyo soon.
He rattled nerves in Japan when he declared there was a 70% chance of a major earthquake in or around Tokyo in the next four years. Government scientists have already proclaimed a similar risk, but over a longer timeframe. When it comes to our nuclear future this is bad news, for whenever the next major quake hits that general area there is a high chance of building No. 4 coming down in a fireball of spent nuclear fuel.
After all Japan is one of the most seismically-active countries in the world.
Sakai says there’s been a fivefold increase in small tremors around Tokyo since the huge quake off Japan’s northeast coast in March last year that destroyed Fukushima, leading to the worst nuclear disaster ever.
This fivefold increase adds up to a mathematical omen for Sakai who, with the help of the University’s Earthquake Research Institute, crunched the new numbers and came up with a shocking prediction: “There’s a 70% chance a major earthquake will hit Tokyo within the next four years.” Sakai and his colleagues are among the country’s leading seismic authorities, so the prediction itself gave Japan a jolt.

Where's Everybody Going In Maine?; The Maine WIRE: Economic Brief: Where Have Maine’s Young, Single, and College-Educated Population Gone?‏

Anecdotally, it is a well-worn verse in Maine that the state has been losing its young people. A new study from the U.S. Census Bureau confirms this.

The study titled “Historical Migration of the Young, Single, and College-Educated: 1965 to 2000,” (pdf) examined the past four decennial censuses to determine the net migration of this population among the 50 states. Based on a state’s net migration over these four time-periods, they classify a state as a “consistent gainer,” “inconsistent gainer,” “inconsistent decliner,” and “consistent decliner.”

As shown in the chart below, Maine is classified as an “inconsistent decliner” because there was one time-period (1985-1990) where Maine was a net in-migrant state. However, a closer look at the data shows that that one time-period fell significantly short of reversing the out-going tide of young, single, and college-educated folks.

The 1965 to 1970 time-period was Maine’s worst with 235.6 people for every 1,000 people between the ages of 25 and 39 leaving that state. The time-periods 1975 to 1980 and 1995 to 2000 were net out-migrant years but at a much lower level (-58.5 and -80.1, respectively). The one in-migrant time-period was 1985 to 1990 with only 13.1 people per 1,000 coming into the state—a rate that is far short of off-setting the out-migration of other time-periods.

Overall, this is an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to understanding the underlying population trends that have contributed to Maine’s Demographic Winter—where 11 counties now have as many or more deaths than births. Put simply, these young people are the foundation of Maine’s future families. So Maine’s declining birth rate is, in part, due to having fewer families in their prime child-bearing years.

As such, if Maine is going to reverse Demographic Winter then we will have to find a way to not only keep our young people in the state, but also to attract young people “from away.” The best way to accomplish this goal is by eliminating Maine’s personal income tax. Doing so would boost jobs, the prime concern of young, single, college-educated folks, and increase their after-tax income.

Sometimes You Just "Roll with It"; BrasscheckTV: In Humor, Truth: A finger in the eye of the corporate elite‏

Lisbon,

When international trade agreements are negotiated behind closed
doors and outright protests have been marginalized, if not
criminalized, what are the 'little people' to do?

A score of rogue "delegates" infiltrated a corporate-sponsored gala
welcoming guests to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade
negotiations and held a mock award ceremony for "Corporate Power
Tools."

Other actions involved an 'occupied' mic-check and replacing toilet
paper throughout the hotel with custom rolls.

Clearly, the elite don't like being made fun of, but they certainly
got the message that people paying attention and don't like what is
being done behind closed doors.

Rogue delegates interrupt trade conference
with mock award ceremony

Party ends badly for U.S. trade reps, federal agents

Two dozen rogue "delegates" disrupted the corporate-sponsored welcome gala for the high-stakes Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade negotiations yesterday with a fake award ceremony and "mic check." Other activists, meanwhile, replaced hundreds of rolls of toilet paper (TP) throughout the conference venue with more informative versions, and projected a message on the venue's facade.

The first action began when a smartly-dressed man approached the podium immediately after the gala's keynote speech by Ron Kirk, U.S. Trade Representative and former mayor of Dallas. The man (local puppeteer David Goodwin) introduced himself as "Git Haversall," president of the "Texas Corporate Power Partnership," and announced he was giving Kirk and other U.S. trade negotiators the "2012 Corporate Power Tool Award," which "Haversall's" partner held aloft.

The crowd of negotiators and corporate representatives applauded, and "Haversall" continued: "I'd like to personally thank the negotiators for their relentless efforts. The TPP agreement is shaping up to be a fantastic way for us to maximize profits, regardless of what the public of this nation—or any other nation—thinks is right."
