Forget the U.S. Constitution. Forget basic human rights. Forget the fact that research shows flu shots don't work most of the time (http://www.naturalnews.com/029641_v...). A group of the nation's leading infectious disease experts are demanding forced vaccinations for all healthcare workers.

That's no exaggeration, either. A position paper just released by the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) calls for mandatory flu vaccine for all healthcare personnel. And if you work in the healthcare field and refuse? SHEA, which is organization of epidemiologists and infectious disease physicians, says you should be fired from your job or, if you are applying for one, denied employment.

The paper, published in this month's Infection Control and Healthcare Epidemiology journal and endorsed by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), specifically demands that influenza vaccination of healthcare personnel should be a condition of both initial and continued employment in healthcare facilities. In fact, according the SHEA paper, it doesn't matter whether a healthcare professional has direct patient contact -- or even whether he or she is directly employed by a healthcare facility -- they should be forced to have a flu shot to have a job.

The Defense Department is attempting to buy the entire first printing - 10,000 copies - of a memoir by a controversial former Defense Intelligence Agency officer so that the book can be destroyed, according to military and other sources.

"Operation Dark Heart," which was scheduled to be published this month by St. Martin's Press, recounts the adventures and frustrations of an Army reservist, Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, who served in Afghanistan in 2003, a moment when the attention of Washington and the military had shifted to Iraq.

Shaffer, who is now a senior fellow at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies in Washington, describes a number of planned covert operations, including an aborted cross-border surveillance operation using sophisticated eavesdropping technology that targeted high-level al-Qaeda operatives based in the tribal areas of Pakistan.

Today, Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth presented key evidence at The National Press Club, evidence that indicated, without a shadow of doubt, that the official story is a complete lie.

In what can be described as a miracle, multiple mainstream or semi mainstream news agencies have reported the event, using PR Newswire as their source. These agencies include Yahoo, Forbes, The Sun Herald, and BreitBart.

For years people around the world have claimed that the three WTC buildings were taken down by controlled demolition. 9/11 “truthers” have been ridiculed, attacked, and sometimes killed yet we continue to push for the truth. 9/11 truth isn’t about any one group or organization, rather it is about demanding justice for the victims families and adequate health care coverage for the first responders.

How can any American go about his or her daily life knowing that over 3,000 Americans and an untold number of first responders were either killed or poisoned in an attack that has clearly been covered up?

One has to wonder, are we witnessing a set up? It is very possible that the government will eventually admit that the WTC Towers were taken down by controlled demolition, but once again, cast the blame on Al Qaeda.

Federal prosecutors have charged a supplier of steel and other metal parts for Virginia Class submarines with defrauding the U.S. government by supplying material that did not meet Navy specifications.

According to the charges filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Bristol

Prosecutors allege that Bristol Alloys and Bullick knew the material did not conform to the Navy's specifications, and said those parts "were critical to the integrity of the Navy submarines in which the parts were to be installed."

Alloys Inc., and its president, James Bullick, falsified certification documents that showed the metal parts met stringent Navy requirements for submarines.

If the Democrats sneak this through, it will have consequences that even Obama, I'm sure, doesn't think about. His concern is for the Unions only. Walmart will be the ultimate target and why not! Imagine the Union dues they could collect. The employees don't realize what they would lose.

They will wind up with no more take home pay, even less if Benefits are provided beyond what they are recieving. Don't you think China will be upset? Walmart obtains 90% of their Product from them. Imagine LL.Bean, who treats their employees as well as any company, is infested with these card carrying goons threatening everyone.

My father, brother, Uncle and cousin in Mass. were heavy equipment operators in Local 25. Every year you voted for a Shop Steward who dictated who went where to work. If you hadn't voted for the right man, you didn't work very much for the next year, since the votes are open and everyone knows who you voted for.

Card check will benefit only the Union and they need the money to give to the Democrats throughout the Country. Unions, for years have done nothing but hurt the economy. They're still run by thugs. I hope you can enlighten your colleagues in both parties. The White House is infiltrated by Unions as it is. Don't make it worse.

Lisbon Rec 7th/8th grade football 44 - 28 over Telstar‏

Lisbon Rec 7th/8th grade football won their first game of the season 44 - 28 over Telstar.

Kyle Bourget (QB) ran for 217 yards, including three touchdowns. Joe Philbrick (FB) rushed for 67 yards, including two touchdowns.

On the defensive side, RJ Sargent (SS) lead with four tackles, and Sean Grover (CB) made a tackle in the 3rd quarter which swung the momentum of the game in Lisbon's favor.

AUGUSTA, Maine, Sept. 7 -- The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife issued the following news release:

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife is hosting its annual Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) Introductory Skills Weekend from Friday, Sept. 17 to Sunday, Sept. 19 at Camp Caribou on Pattee Pond in Winslow.

The cost is $225 and covers everything -- good food, lodging, all equipment and lots of opportunity to learn. Partial scholarships are available based on need. Participants stay in heated bunk-style cabins, and meals are served cafeteria-style in the main lodge.

Some of the 36 instruction courses offered over the three days include: canoeing, kayaking, outdoor survival, firearms use and range safety, skeet shooting, fly casting, knot tying, GPS, map and compass, archery, trapping, bow hunting, trip planning, outdoor cooking, ropes course, forest ecology, planting for wildlife, basic fishing, biking, and much more!

A complete Hunter Safety Certification Course is available as a course strand for the weekend. Participants in Hunter Safety take four required classes with additional evening instruction and a Sunday afternoon final test.

The national Becoming an Outdoors Woman program began in 1991 when it was first offered at the University of Wisconsin after a study there concluded that women preferred to learn hunting, fishing and outdoor skills in a non-competitive atmosphere with other women.

More than 80 women, ranging in age from 18 to over 60, attend Maine BOW's Introductory Skills Weekend each year.

Sustainability isn't about the quick fix or the cheap solution. Generally it means making a commitment and trying, as best we can, to honor it. In any worthwhile enterprise, from protecting the environment to preserving a relationship, we are going to encounter difficulties. The good life is not a problem-free life. In point of fact, the process of overcoming adversity often produces some of the most rewarding experiences we will ever have. Human beings need to be challenged to 'test their mettle,' as it were. Throwing in the towel at the first sign of trouble or small inkling of distress may be the easy thing to do, but it doesn't help our self-concept. Most of life's troubles can be overcome if we are willing to work through them with patience.

CAMDEN – Maine Democrat Congresswoman Chellie Pingree will share the spotlight Monday with Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank, acknowledged by many as one of the key players in the lead-up to the recent financial collapse in America.

Congressman Frank spent years pushing for risky lending practices, using the power of his position as Chairman of the Financial Services Committee to bully financial institutions into lending to unqualified borrowers. Warned repeatedly that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were facing collapse, Frank held his ground until it collapsed beneath him.

"Maine families in the 1st Congressional District have suffered tremendously because of Rep. Frank," said Maine GOP Chair Charlie Webster. "Unless Chellie Pingree is taking Barney Frank on a tour of the devastation he caused, I think her fundraising with him in a Bayview Street mansion in Camden shows an amazing lack of understanding, of compassion, toward the majority of the people she's supposed to represent," said Webster.

Rep. Frank will be guest of honor at a fundraiser for Rep. Pingree, scheduled for 5:00pm on Monday at a 16,000 square foot mansion on tony BayView Street in Camden. Pingree’s close ties with hedge fund company Paloma Partners, the recipient of hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars through AIG’s government bailout, paints a picture of the event as a gathering of economic rogues.

“Chellie Pingree literally lives off the largess of the hedge fund industry,” continued Webster. “Her association with Donald Sussman and Paloma Partners is so unsettling. Let’s look at it through a regular Mainer’s eyes: AIG gets a huge Wall Street bailout. $200 million of that bailout money works its way to Sussman’s Paloma Partners. Then Paloma Partners turns around and funnels hundreds of thousands of dollars to Chellie Pingree’s campaigns. This doesn’t look good from any vantage point.”

Sussman’s Paloma Partners employees and associates have donated over $130,000 to Pingree’s re-election campaign, and donated over $100,000 to her campaign in 2008. Sussman has also donated millions to liberal groups and PACs in Maine, including the Maine Democratic State Committee.

“Chellie Pingree has a lot to answer for,” concluded Webster. “Rubbing elbows with the likes of Barney Frank and Wall Street robber barons like Donald Sussman, at a time when Mainers are hurting, sends the clear signal that she couldn’t care less about the working people of Maine. “

The ninth annual observance of Flight 93 and September 11 will take place at the Flight 93 National Memorial near Shanksville, Pennsylvania at 9:30 am on September 11, 2010. First Lady Mrs. Michelle Obama and Mrs. Laura W. Bush will give keynote remarks and will be joined by Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, and the Families of Flight 93. The service is free and open to the public.

The ceremony will take place at an area known as the western overlook, where investigative teams and family members first assembled in the days after September 11. This is the last time that a ceremony for Flight 93 will take place at a temporary location. Next year, for the tenth anniversary, a stunning new memorial plaza will be completed and dedicated, permanently preserving this sacred ground as the Flight 93 National Memorial.

Obama to propose massive rebuilding program costing at least $50 billion

Proposals to see 150,000 miles of roads, 4,000 miles of railways, 150 miles of runways constructed or rebuilt

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is asking Congress to approve at least $50 billion in long-term spending in the nation's roads, railways and runways in a pre-election effort to show he's trying to stimulate the sputtering economy.

The infrastructure spending is part of a package of targeted proposals the White House announced on Monday. With November's elections for control of Congress approaching, Obama planned to discuss the proposal later Monday at a Labor Day event in Milwaukee.

The proposals would require congressional approval, which is highly uncertain with many legislators and voters worried about adding to federal deficits that are already sky-high. With Republicans saying spending is out of control and polls showing many people want to end Democrats' control of Congress, even many Democratic lawmakers are reluctant to approve new spending so close to Election Day.

Obama Kagan, and guess what? Yep, you got it. Snopes lied.

The information you have posted stating that there were no such cases as claimed by WND and the examples you gave are blatently false. Went directly to the Supreme courts website, typed in Obama Kagan and immediately came up with all of the dockets that WND made reference too. I Don't Care....

First, Newsweek pulled a Dan Rather on us, running a fabricated story just because they wanted it to be true. They told the world that an American guard at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention center had ripped pages from a prisoner’s Koran and flushed it down a toilet. As a result, innocent people died when practitioners of Islam rioted in protest in Afghanistan .

Oops, said Newsweek, it seems we can’t back up our story. Oh well, it’s probably true; we just can’t prove it.

The lie heard round the world about the flushed Koran has caused convulsions in the Bush Administration and forced the Pentagon to launch an investigation of unfounded allegations contained in an unsubstantiated story. The results of said investigation are now in, and it seems there are at least five incidents of “mishandling” of the Koran at Gitmo.

Well, guess what? I DON’T CARE!

Are we fighting a war on terror or aren’t we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001? Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from our nation’s capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ? Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning death that day, or didn’t they?

And I’m supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was “desecrated” when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don’t. I don’t care at all.

I’ll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I’ll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia .

I’ll care when Abu Musab al-Zarqawi tells the world he is sorry for hacking off Nick Berg’s head while Berg screamed through his gurgling, slashed throat.

I’ll care when the cowardly so-called “insurgents” in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I’ll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I’ll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution’s Bill of Rights.

I’ll care when Clinton-appointed judges stop ordering my government to release photos of the abuses at Abu Ghraib, which are sure to set off the Islamic extremists just as Newsweek’s lies did a few weeks ago.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don’t care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college hazing incident, rest assured that I don’t care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank that I don’t care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being “mishandled,” you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts that I don’t care.

And oh, by the way, I’ve noticed that sometimes it’s spelled “Koran” and other times “Quran.” Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and — you guessed it — I don’t care!

The Maine Approach

THE MAINE APPROACH

A young Mainer lad moved to New York and went to Bloomingdales looking for a job.

The manager asked 'Do you have any sales experience?'

The young man answered 'Uh uh, I was a salesman up in Portland.'

The manager liked the lads openness so he gave him the job.

His first day was challenging and busy, but he got through it.

After the store was locked up, the manager came down and asked,
'OK, so how many sales did you make today?'
The Scotsman said 'One!'
The manager groaned and continued, 'Just one? Our sales people
average 20 or 30 sales a day.
How much was the sale for?'
'$184,237.64.'

The manager choked and exclaimed $184,237.64!! What the hell did
you sell him?'
'Well, first I sold him a tiny fish hook, then a medium fish hook and
then I sold him a new fishing rod.'

'Then I asked him where he was goin' fishing and he said down east on the Maine coast, so I told him he'd need a boat, so we went down to the boat department and I sold him a twin-engine
Power Cat.'
'Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I
took him down to car sales and I sold him the 4 x4

The manager, incredulous, said, 'You mean to tell me...a guy came
in here to buy a fish hook and you sold him a boat and a 4x4?'
'No, no, no... he came in here to buy a box of tampons for his lady
friend and I said...
'Well, since your weekend's screwed, you might as well go fishin'.'

The International Seaplane Fly-In Associaton is a non-profit organization whose main focus is to provide aviation education (and a whole lot of fun!) to participants and spectators alike. We provide a scholarship each year to a deserving high school student who plans to further his/her education in some field related to aviation. The 2009 recipient of the scholarship is Megan Weymouth of Abbot who graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in June and is now attending Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire.

The International Seaplane Fly-In brings thousands of participants and spectators to the Moosehead Region on the week-end after Labor Day. The costs associated with putting on the Fly -In have increased each year. Please consider helping us to continue to fund this great tradition by placing your ad in our "Annual Guide".

Seaplane Fly In

Celebration of the Life of Telford M. Allen, Jr.

On Saturday, September 11 the Allen family will be holding a Celebration of Telford's Life. It will be held at Telford's Hangar beginning at 7PM. There is no charge (other than a cash bar) to attend. At 8PM Bob Bryan will be speaking and at 9PM there will be a live band for dancing and socializing. This is for everyone who would like to celebrate the life of this special man with us.
The Fly In Banquet /Buffet on Saturday, September 11 will be held beginning at 6PM in a tent adjacent to the hangar. Tickets and registration for the Banquet are available on this website.

Maine Part of 31 State Consortium for Race to the Top Assessment

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced the grant award at a meeting of state educational leaders in Washington, D.C. today. The U.S. Department of Education awarded two federal Race to the Top Assessment grants: one to the SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium and the other to the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career.

Idaho is a governing state in the 31-state SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium, which applied for the grant in June. Idaho's Deputy Superintendent of Assessment Dr. Carissa Miller has been elected to serve on the consortium's executive committee that will administer and oversee the four-year grant.

The SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) is a collection of states that have been working collaboratively since December 2009 to develop a student assessment system aligned to a common core of academic content standards to apply for a Race-to-the-Top Assessment grant. As of June 17, the Consortium comprises 31 states submitting the grant application to the U.S. Department of Education.

The U.S. Department of Education (USED) announced in April 2010 the opportunity for consortia of states to compete for special Race to the Top Assessment grants. USED may fund up to two consortia, for no more than $160 million each. The USED requirement is that a consortium funded under this grant opportunity will receive funding for four years (Oct 2010 through Sept 2014) to develop assessments that "are valid, support and inform instruction, provide accurate information about what students know and can do, and measure student achievement against standards designed to ensure that all students gain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in college and the workplace."

SBAC will submit an application for a federal grant that would develop a student assessment system aligned to a common core of academic standards. Washington is the applicant state on behalf of the consortium.

Maine Recipient of $39 Million Stimulus For Education

Alabama, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Nebraska, and Tennessee Will Receive Funds to Support Education Jobs

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that Alabama will receive $149.5 million, Iowa will receive $96.5 million, Maine will receive $39 million, Massachusetts will receive $204 million, Nebraska will receive $58.9 million, and Tennessee will receive $195.9 million to support education jobs.

"There is a huge sense of urgency to get these funds out the door. I commend these states for being among the first to submit their applications and thank our team at the Department for making funds available within a matter of days," said Duncan. "These education dollars will help these states keep thousands of teachers in the classroom working with our students this school year."

The $10 billion education fund will support education jobs in the 2010-11 school year and be distributed to states by a formula based on population figures. States can distribute their funding to school districts based on their own primary funding formula or districts' relative share of federal Title I funds.

Over the last two years, the Department has been able to support 300,000 education jobs through stimulus funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. At this time, seven states have drawn down 100 percent of previously allocated jobs funding, while 18 states total have drawn down 80 percent or more. A July report from the independent Center on Education Policy found that 75 percent of school districts that received stimulus funds expect to cut teaching positions in the upcoming school year.
