Time To Wake Up America: Airports are Constitution-free zones

Lisbon,

Jesse Ventura's lawsuit against the TSA addressed a direct and
profound violation of the Fourth Amendment which protects us
against unlawful searches and seizures.

A federal judge has dismissed Ventura's case, denying him his day
in court and leaving him, and the rest of us I might add, no means
of contesting the illegal actions of the government goons in our
airports.

Quite simply, the Constitution does not apply...

Ventura Decries “Fascist” America
After Judge Tosses TSA Case

Vowing to “never fly commercial” again, Ventura gave a passionate press conference today, expressing his anger at TSA grope down procedures that force people like himself with metal implants to go through humiliating pat downs every time they pass through airport security.

His lawyer was told the case could not go to jury trial due to “secrecy reasons” over “national security”

“I want a trial by jury. They tell me I can have a jury decide my fate!” Ventura said, refering to the judge who dismissed the case as a “coward”. “If given a jury, I will win,” he added.

“I will not, in a free country, be treated like a criminal,” said Ventura, adding that he and his wife intended to apply for Mexican citizenship.

Referring to 9/11, Ventura questioned the reasoning behind the whole war on terror. “George Bush said we were attacked because they were jealous of our freedoms. So we take away our freedoms so they won’t be jealous anymore?” he said. “I think they’re winning.”

Divorced Bob Emrich To Lead Maine's 2012 Marriage Campaign‏

The divorced tax cheat (see attached article and www.goodasyou.org/good_as_you/2011/11/on-divorce-valid-questions-and-bob-emrich.html), Rev. Bob Emrich, created this thread on As Maine Goes on Tuesday (11/15/11) evening:

Most likely, he returned from evangelizing in Uganda earlier this month (or will be there later this month).

Thus, the "urgent" voice mail request Christian Civic League of Maine Executive Director Carroll Conley, Jr. left for my pastor last week to have Emrich and Conley, Jr. meet with me and my pastor this past Tuesday morning (which did not happen due to the pending Maine Human Rights Commission complaints I still have pending against the League).

Importantly, Emrich talks in the As Maine Goes posting he created about the upcoming marriage campaign as though he will be leading it ("This is going to be a long campaign."), including conducting a phone interview with the San Francisco Chronicle this week ("I just received a telephone call from the San fransico Chronicle for a story regarding ads to start next week in Maine.")

I do not see where the Chronicle has yet published such an article, but it may be upcoming still later this week or month.

It’s Time For A Little Fiscal Fidelity

We all have heard the classic Washington scandal of a Congressman being unfaithful. The indiscretion usually causes a public outcry leading to a public apology and resignation. But what happens when a member of Congress is unfaithful to the economy?
For decades Washington has spent far beyond its means. This overspending has saddled the country with a national debt of over $15 trillion – a point at which it is now hamstringing economic growth. And even now, as the economy begs for attention, lawmakers are unable to make things right.
As millions of Americans sit out of work and a recovery falters, isn’t it time Washington shows a little fiscal fidelity?

Lisbon Loses A Councilor Whose Shoes Can Never Be Filled!!!

THE END OF AN ERA

Last night was Councilor Roger Cote’s last town council meeting.  As always Roger left the council with dignity and class.  Councilor Cote always put aside his personal feelings and voted for what was best for his constituents and the Town of Lisbon.  If anyone wants to question his loyalty to Lisbon review his voting record.  I cannot remember a single council meeting Council Cote missed during his three years on the council.  His dedication and professionalism to Lisbon will never be matched by another councilor.

Councilor Cote tried to make a difference in the living conditions and improve life in Lisbon.  This challenge was always met with disapproval by his fellow councilors.  A review of his warnings to other councilors on the consequences of their actions has come true in almost every case.  His fellow councilors did not have the common decency to thank Roger for his service.  Mark Lunt did thank Roger but it was in such a low voice no one in the audience could hear him.

The Town of Lisbon has suffered a great loss without Councilor Cote being on the Town Council to point out the real issues.  Without Roger being on the Town Council means the puppet master and his stooges are going to run wild raising taxes to support an inflated police and fire budget.  The town manager will be foreclosing on citizen’s property right and left.  The town attorney will be raping the community in legal fees.  Councilor LaRochelle will be purchasing town owned property right and left.  Vice Chair Pomelow will become the Chairperson and no one will be allowed to speak at any meetings.  The town of Lisbon will become more of a joke than a great community to raise a family as it once was.

I personally want to thank Roger Cote for his service and explain that one councilor, no matter how good he is, cannot change the injustices this town council has inflected on this town.  It takes four councilors to make a difference and as long as Bowie, Pomelow, Mason and LaRochelle are there it is only going to get worse.  Hang on Lisbon because you are in for some very disturbing times.

A final note, look at the old articles on The Lisbon Reporter and you will see nothing has changed in the last few years because one councilor cannot possibly make a difference standing alone against a group of councilors committing collusion.  Prior to the council meeting, the puppet master held pre-meetings to instruct the stooges on what to say and how to act.  I have no hope Councilor-elect Ward will be anything more than another puppet instructed to protect the police and fire budget at all cost.

Where Do We Go From Here?

Where do we go from here?

I do know we are NOT giving up, until we have seen the last of the b@#$%&ds.

Roger told me last night the new Firehouse restaurant in Lisbon has gone under.

Looks like even the firefighters did not support it. Talk about loyalty!

and this was the third owner, all with town financing.

We have so much money to give away. Get the story from Roger and print it would you?

We're paying Scott Bensen, Rosie's replacement, to go to meetings and do studies and charts.

Another waste of money.

And the $5,700 Eldridge gave to Fire Chief Galipeau is still floating around somewhere.

$8,200 to tear down a building the town took, illegally, for unpaid taxes instead of working with the owner.

Graziano's is on the foreclosure list for unpaid sewer bills. They are over-assessed and over taxed, and Scott apparently is doing nothing to help them stay in town. they are the ones that need a loan and TIF.

But that makes too much sense.

I was really disappointed last night at council meeting. Roger thanked the voters for allowing him to represent them for 3 years. He thanked the over 1,000 that voted for him. And the only one that thanked him for his service, and I could barely hear him, was Mark Lunt.

Fern, even Roger Bickford, Lori, Eldridge must have lost their respective tongues.

New councilor Lisa Ward didn't even show up at the meeting. Like she really cares.

Talking to a former classmate, taxpayer and part-time resident yesterday he said Lisa was at the transfer station before the election, shaking hands and introducing herself. He stopped to talk to her.  He owned businesses out of state. His opinion of her was "she's a flake", has no business being on the council. Could not understand why anyone would vote for her.

But this is Lisbon. all one needs is the support of Brooks, the fire department and town office, and no brains.

The End Of An Era For Lisbon

Thank you Roger Cote for your contributions to the Town of Lisbon as you served your constituents as a Town Councilor in a fashionable way despite trends you were up against.  You set yourself apart from everyone else in your knowledge of Town issues and for the ability to stand your ground.

Read the following article that was written well before you were a councilor, only the names have changed since then. It is still the same old same old. Only the players have changed.

Are Lisbon Citizens Any Better Off?

Over three years ago now, The Lisbon Concerned Citizens were formed in an effort to educate and enlighten the voters, taxpayers, and citizens in town about the shenanigans that were being conducted by the so called new leadership of a Town Council form of government.  Many people use to complain about the special interest groups that would come to the town meetings and vote for what they wanted, ie. Police Department, Fire Department or whatever group wanted something.  Well at least an audience full of voter's eager to express their right to vote was better then the current dictatorship type you all are under now with the Town Council.  Seven,  are making decisions for the rest of you to live with that, NOW, can't even express your concerns with the new audience rules because of Vice-Soon-To-Be-Chair Pomelow getting her "knickers in a knot" about the fact that someone might come to the podium and speak on something that she is not prepared to answer.  Well Hello,  isn't that what our forefather's fought and died for?  Freedom of Speech, the right to speak one's mind on any subject?

But it is deeper than just speaking at the podium.  Your so called leaders in town have been playing pin the tail on the money cow for so long that the poor cow is dead.  Just since current Town Manager Stephen G. Eldridge has been hired much too much money has been spent on unnecessary positions, raises, equipment, computer software, personnel, attorney fees, etc.  The Cow has no more money.  Now they have a computer program where they can move money around internally from one department to the next without leaving any trace.  How convenient, considering we are in the process of exposing the real hidden figures dealing with Lisbon's Private Dispatch Center. No one could look ahead far enough to see that the economy was going to hell in a hand basket in 2008.  It is worse now by far.

Then we have the tax fiasco with Mr. Dow and the dual tax billings two years in a row. Finally he is fired and now we have an inside man doing the revaluation process, year to year, if there is enough money to support the process.

But what you are missing is the fact that you all have been LIED to many times.  Even by sworn public safety officials.

The issues are much greater then just in good old Lisbon.  All across America things are in a state of turmoil from Arizona to Maine, if you have been paying any attention you know that there are great concerns and fallacies being conducted right under your noses.  Most courts and judges are corrupt leading to a gaggle of corrupt lawyers all playing the game of who can suck the most money up in any proceeding.  Don't believe me just try getting something done in our court systems.  Look around and see who and how things are done, redone, or undone depending on your perspective.  How many repeat offenders do you see in the papers?  Get my point?

This country was founded and formed on the basis of "We the People" and culminates with "United We Stand".  So stand up get involved stop sitting on the sidelines thinking everything is going to be OK  because, "there must be someone else looking after that". There isn't and you are leaving one hell of a mess for your own children and grandchildren to deal with.

Concerned Americans of Christian and Jewish faith are deeply concerned about the impact of Shariah law

Concerned Americans of Christian and Jewish faith are deeply concerned about the impact of Shariah law on our courts and society. More and more, American jurisdictions are implementing Shariah law.

My Personal Encounter with Shariah Law
By Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman
Liberty Counsel
Two weeks ago, I found myself directly in the crosshairs of the growing conflict between Shariah law and our Constitution.
The Oxford Dictionary of Islam defines “Shariah law” as “God’s eternal and immutable will for humanity, as expressed in the Quran and Muhammad’s example (Sunnah), considered binding for all believers.”
In practical terms, “Shariah” also describes a movement under way in European and American legal systems to overturn Western civilization through the imposition of Islamic law and culture. As a constitutional attorney, I can tell you firsthand that this phenomenon is accelerating at an alarming rate.
++Hotel cancels conference on Shariah law.
An important conference featuring leading experts on the Constitution and Shariah law was originally scheduled to be held at the Hutton Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee, today. But just days ago, Hutton Hotel banned the conference and cancelled a perfectly valid contract, claiming “safety concerns.”
Thankfully, the conference quickly found another venue, but not without great expense and difficulty.
The fact is, private companies and municipalities are facing more and more pressure to cater to or adopt special rules for Muslims. In one recent case, Muslim workers claimed “unfair labor practices” because they were told to clock out before taking prayer breaks. In another instance, claims of discrimination were leveled when Muslim women were told not to wear their head scarves for safety reasons before going on a roller coaster.
And now in courts of law across this nation, Shariah law is already being applied in case after case.
++There are actually dozens of “Shariah law” cases in our courts!
A study by the Center for Security Policy found 50 state court cases that considered Shariah law. To make matters worse, these cases referenced differing variations of Shariah law from 16 countries. The study concluded, “[J]udges are making decisions deferring to Shariah law even when those decisions conflict with constitutional protections.”
That means, in reality, Shariah law could be being applied in hundreds of other courtrooms across this nation!
++The greatest threat we face from radical Islam.
The truth is, the greatest threat our nation now faces from radical Islam is not in the form of another 9/11 attack, but rather in the slow, steady, and systematic implementation of Shariah law.
It’s already happening in Europe where schools are adopting special rules for Muslim students during Rhamadan. Europe is so far gone that the Archbishop of Canterbury (the head of the Church of England) said that the adoption of Shariah law is “unavoidable” and the idea that “there is one law for everybody” is now in “a bit of a danger.”
The Association of Liberty Counsels have petitioned and are opposing Shariah law in our courts.
When the Hutton Hotel in Nashville banned the conference on Shariah law, I immediately sent them a strongly worded Demand Letter objecting to their suppression of free speech rights.
It was then that I knew we had to do more immediately. . I am asking you to be among the early signers of this petition as, together, we build a grassroots coalition to stop Shariah law.

Willfully Concealing Could Lead To Malfeasance In Office!!!?

"And the Council-Manager Charter of The Town of Lisbon (November 2005) clearly states in Section 9.03 that “if any elected or appointed officer, official, employee, or the spouse of any such person, has a substantial financial interest, direct or indirect, in any contract with the Town or in the purchase or sale of any land, material, supplies, or service to the Town or to a contractor supplying the Town, that person shall make known that interest and shall refrain from voting or otherwise participating in his or her capacity as an elected or appointed officer, official, or employee in making any such purchase or sale or in making such contract. Any such person who willfully conceals said financial interest or that of his or her spouse, or willfully violates the requirements of this section shall be guilty of malfeasance in office or position and shall forfeit the same. Any contract made in violation of this section shall be voidable by the Town.”"

So Bowie Could Be Eliminated and Brooks Could Be Terminated?

Here's a great write up pertaining to Conflicts of Interest.  Keep In Mind Folks, that Mike Bowie is in a Conflict of Interest Investigation by Lisbon Ethics Panel currently.   Also this will bring the conflict of interest that the Androscoggin County Commissioners will have to deal with as Mrs. Bowie is Chief Brooks personal assistant and Head Dispatcher Communicator.  WOW!!!  No conflict of interest there huh!?!   No wonder Brooks could never catch the right criminals or find the missing $32,500 of the taxpayers money!!!

Lisbon council mulls adding code of ethics

By Darcie Moore, Times Record Staff
Published:
Monday, November 14, 2011 2:08 PM EST
LISBON — The Lisbon Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday to consider, among other ordinance changes, an amendment that establishes a code of ethics, as well as penalties for violation of the code of ethics.

According to the council’s agenda, councilors are scheduled to conduct a second reading of the proposed amendment to Chapter 12 of town ordinances: Ethics and Conflicts of Interest. As proposed, the amendment adds language to Section 12-1 that states, “The purpose of this Code of Ethics is to establish standards of ethical conduct for all councilors, Planning Board or committee members, members of appointed board or committees, and town employees by setting forth those acts or actions which are deemed to be in conflict, or which create the appearance of conflict, with the ethical standards of the town of Lisbon.”

The proposed new language also points to provisions in state statute that the municipal amendment would “incorporate into this Code of Ethics by reference to the extent applicable.”

New language proposed for section 12-7 titled “Effect of advisory opinion,” includes penalties for violation of the new code of ethics. For elected officials found to have violated the code by members of their respective council, board or committee, action could range from a letter of reprimand by the chairman to a “censure by a majority of the elected council, board or committee, to a request for resignation from the elected position by a majority of the elected board or committee.”

The same penalties would apply to appointed officials but, in addition, if the board or committee is appointed by the municipal officers, the municipal officers could remove an appointee for cause after notice and a public hearing.

Wake Up America

WAKE UP AMERICA ...

when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
Is this man truly a genius?  Checked out and this is true...it DID happen!

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class.  That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.  The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.  As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D!  No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because
when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
Could not be any simpler than that. (Please pass this on)
Remember, there IS a test coming up.  The 2012 elections.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Can you think of a reason for not sharing this? Neither could I.

Moral Obligations For Lisbon Councilors?

  Lisbon Maine Councilors Moral Obligation

In my opinion Lisbon Councilors should  approach their duties from the level of their lowest income residents. If they rule from a more affluent perspective they will be placing undue hardship on many elderly and low income residents.

Government should take care of the basic requirements of the community, Police and Fire protection along with Road maintenance, public transportation and the daily administrative duties of the Town. It shouldn't be used to fund special projects that many cannot afford.  If  people want these additional non essential projects they should shoulder the costs themselves. Councilors shouldn't be allowed to pass along the cost of their own desires or that of their friends onto the less fortunate.

Struggling  taxpayers shouldn't be required to pay for the pet projects of the more affluent Councilors.

Why should A struggling senior citizen or single parent making 15 or 20 thousand a year be required to pay for a first rate Police Department with all its trappings at the expense of getting their own medications or food. And at the same time be refused basic public transportation because the powers that be don't need the bus service. This is morally criminal.
Why should a elderly Lisbon resident lose their lifelong home or worse because a Councilor wants kudos for adding a third or forth unnecessary vehicle to any department or some other unneeded expenditure.

A good leader takes into consideration all the ramifications of their decisions..

I hope Lisbon Councilors remember they were voted onto the Council to serve the public not to use the position to improve their own social standing.

Creative Accounting Lisbon Style!!!

CREATIVE ACCOUNTING

Wouldn’t it be nice to know where our tax dollars are actually being spent?  Can you image how nice it would be to see how much each department was really spending?
That would make it easy to see which departments are costing the Town of Lisbon the most but instead Evil Eldridge, Brooks and Bowie have devised an accounting scheme hiding actual costs from the taxpayers in order to maintain inflated departmental budgets.  Let’s take a look at a couple:

Public Works Department – In this departmental budget are the costs for street lights and fire hydrants rental.  This is a town cost and not the Public Works Department.  The Public Works Department does absolutely nothing to street light or hydrants; so why are these two line items under the Public Works Department.  I will tell you why; because these costs, which the town has no control over, make this department the most costly in town.  In other words, it is utilized to hide the excessive spending in the Police budget.

Police Department – During last town council meeting, Brooks gave a presentation on the cost of the Lisbon Communications Center.  In this presentation, Brooks openly admitted to hiding line items in other areas of the budget.  However, even after I pointed it out, Brooks never explained to the people where the costs for communications equipment and maintenance are in the budget.  If you look at the Communication Center portion of the budget, there is no cost for equipment or maintenance.  This means these lines items are deliberately placed else where to give the impression the Communication Center does not cost the taxpayers as much money as it does.  The approximate cost for the communication center is over $500,000 dollars a year.  Now you see why Brooks hides this cost from the taxpayers.  The police budget is the largest expense to the Town of Lisbon.

Why is it impossible for Evil Eldridge, Brooks and Bowie to place all line items in the appropriate department so the citizens of Lisbon can see what the real cost of doing business is? 5 Wouldn’t it be great to see what each department cost the town of Lisbon to operate annually?  I understand this would be a new concept for these people but I believe the taxpayers deserve to know where their hard earned money is going.  Hiding operational costs from the taxpayers is not transparency in government.

Waste Of My Time, Thanks But No Thanks!!!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

I want to thank very much the citizens who wrote my name in for District 1 Budget Advisory Board.  I am very honored to have your trust with this position but I must respectfully decline for two important reasons.

The first and most important reason is because I would not be able to continue writing for The Lisbon Report or the Lisbon News.  I believe I am much more effective exposing the shenanigans, backdoor deals and outright deception going on with the management of the Town of Lisbon. The citizens of Lisbon need to know what kind individuals they have elected and what they are doing with our tax dollars.  I only report the facts and bring out the issues facing the residents of Lisbon.  Exposing the underhanded dealings and double crosses in the town are essential to making everyone aware of what goes on behind closed doors.

The second reason is because this town council does not and will not listen to anything I have to say.  Look at the history of the Budget Advisory Board and whether or not the town council has listened or adopted any of the recommendation of the board.  The answer is no!!!!  Look at the transfers going on without the Budget Advisory Board knowledge or input.  This is a total waste of time.

This town council only does what it wants and will continue to do so.  Filling a position on any board or committee is a complete waste of time.  Nothing can be accomplished to save this community now.

Way To Go Lisa!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS LISA

Congratulation Lisa!!  Your victory in this week’s election to the Town Council is a new beginning for you in the area of politics.  The people have spoken and now the town will see what you are made of.  The town of Lisbon is looking to you to make a serious difference in our lives.  The question is going to be “Are you going to put what is best for the community or be a puppet.”

I hope and pray you will always put the people of Lisbon first in all your decisions and vote only what you think is best for the citizens.  Only time will tell if you are going to be an asset or a liability to Lisbon.

The current council is made up of your friends so it will be easy to fit in with the puppets.  The hard part is going to be going against your friends and do what is right for the town of Lisbon.  Remember, the choices are always your choices and we look to you to always make the right choice.

Lisbon - The induction ceremony for the Worumbo Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) was held on the evening of Wednesday, October 26 at Lisbon High School. Sixteen students from the classes of 2012 and 2013 were recognized by family, friends, and faculty for their outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. The evening’s keynote speaker’s speech prepared by Ron Hood from Big Brothers Big Sisters, was delivered by NHS Advisor, Lynne Gervais.  Hood was unable to attend and deliver his speech personally due to an unexpected emergency.  “Mr. Hood prepared an inspiring and thought provoking message to students,” shares Gervais.   As NHS members, students will continue to demonstrate their commitment to helping others as they perform both individual and group service projects throughout the year.  A number of inductees are members of the Lisbon Young Adult Volunteer / Interact Club.  FMI on projects and other programs, volunteer and community opportunities email mmillhime@lisbonschoolsme.org or call 754.0021.  Visit us on FaceBook at Community Resource News in Lisbon Schools.

Tuesday's Secret Executive Session Only Town Council Meeting

SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING

Look out citizens of Lisbon, the town council, Evil Eldridge and Roger Therriault are fixing to screw a member of the Lisbon Community.  There is a special town council meeting being held on Tuesday November 8, 2011.  The only item on the agenda is an Executive Session.  This is where this town council goes behind closed doors to screw a member of this community.

You can tell someone is going to lose their property by the reference number.  MRSA Statue 405 (6) C states “Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use  of real or personal property permanently attached to real property or interests therein or disposition of publicly held property or economics development only if premature disclosures of the information would prejudice the competitive or bargaining position of the body or agency.”

What, in essence, this means is this town council is doing something they do not want the citizens of the town to know until it is too late for the residents to respond.  Why all the secrecy?  Most of the taxpayers are adults and deserve to know what is going on in the town of Lisbon.  The history of the town council going into Executive Session reveals they are doing underhanded dealings which a normal Mainer would never approve of and by the time the people find out it is too late to change.

Let the Town Council explain to the citizens of Lisbon what exactly they are doing.  Let’s see if it is on the up and up or some back door dealings.  Remember, what this council did to James Morrales!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vote No on 1 Tomorrow to Protect Maine's Election Integrity‏

 Dear Friends,

Tomorrow is the big day – time for us to make a stand for electoral integrity in Maine by voting No on Question 1.

MHPC has laid the facts bare about our electoral system – it’s the least-secure in the nation, and Question 1 will only make it worse. Maine has no photo ID requirement, and no proof of citizenship requirement.  If you haven’t already, please check out our study on Maine’s election system by clicking here.

The plain truth is that Maine runs its elections on the honor system, and Election Day Registration is a big part of the problem. Without time to verify the validity of new registrations, there is no way to determine whether a voter is a legal resident of that municipality, or even a U.S. citizen. This is simply unacceptable.

The people pushing Question 1 have pulled out all the stops in this campaign to scare people into supporting this irresponsible measure. MHPC has probed into their claims, and we’ve clearly proven every one of them wrong.

The other side has claimed that eliminating Election-Day Registration will disenfranchise voters. This is completely untrue - voters have 247 days to register each year. They can even register and vote in the same day, by utilizing absentee votes. And the people of Maine can even register and vote without ever leaving their homes by using the US Postal Service.  Eliminating Election-Day Registration simply provides a small window for municipal clerks to make sure new registered voters meet current eligibility requirements. Unfortunately, supporters of Question 1 are trying to prevent clerks from making this check.

Here’s the core point – 93% of all U.S. citizens are required to register to vote in advance of election day. States like California, New York, and Massachusetts have pre-registration requirements between 15 and 30 days. A No vote on Question 1 will give Maine voters the same level of ballot security that 93% of all Americans are already afforded.

Maine voters have the right to know their ballots are secure, and a No vote on Question 1 is the first step toward a responsible electoral system. Please make sure to vote No on Question 1 tomorrow, and let your friends know what’s at stake.
