NEW PREAMBLE ANNEX TO THE CONSTITUTION

NEW PREAMBLE ANNEX TO THE CONSTITUTION

This  is probably the best e-mail I've seen in a long, long time. The
following has been attributed to State Representative Mitchell Kaye  from
 GA.
But was actually written by Libertarian writer and former U.S. Senate candidate Lewis Napper.

This guy should run for President one day...v

"We  the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help
everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more  riots,
keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure  the blessings
of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren,
hereby try one more time to ordain  and establish some common sense
guidelines for the terminally whiny,  guilt ridden, delusional, and other
liberal bed-wetters. We hold  these truths to be self evident: that a whole
lot of people are  confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they
 require a Bill of  NON-Rights."

ARTICLE  I:  You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or
any other  form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire
them,  but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE  II:  You do not have the right to never be offended.
This country is  based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone --
not just  you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different
opinion, etc; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always  will be.

ARTICLE  III:  You do not have the right to be free from harm. If
you stick a  screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not
expect the  tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives
 independently  wealthy.

ARTICLE  IV:  You do not have the right to free food and housing.
Americans are  the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help
anyone  in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation
after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing  more
than the creation of another generation of professional couch  potatoes ....

ARTICLE  V:  You  do not have the right to free health care. That
would be nice, but  from the looks of public housing, we're just not
 interested in  public health care.

ARTICLE  VI:  You  do not have the right to physically harm other
people. If you  kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be
surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric  chair.

ARTICLE  VII:  You do not have the right to the possessions of
others. If you rob,  cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other
citizens, don't  be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you
away in a  place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color
TV  or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE  VIII:  You do not have the right to a job. All of us
sure want you to have  a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times,
but we expect  you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and
vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)

ARTICLE  IX:  You  do not have the right to happiness. Being an
American means that you  have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the
way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of
idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill  of
 Rights.

ARTICLE  X:  This is an English speaking country. We don't care
where you are  from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to
 wherever you  came from! (Lastly....)

ARTICLE  XI:  You  do not have the right to change our country's
history or heritage.  This country was founded on the belief in one true
God. And yet, you  are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any
faith, or no  faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD
WE  TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable
 with it, TOUGH!

If  you agree, share this with a friend. No, you don't have to,
and  nothing tragic will befall you if you don't. I just think it's about
time common sense is allowed to flourish. Sensible people of the  United
States speak out because if you do not, who  will?

-- "It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."

Feedback Friday

By the way. Especially enjoyed last night's article, "Self Serving Over Paid Chief"
You certainly are doing your homework!
Thank's !!

Thanks!  …keep up the great work on your site!  The Town Office stuff is very informative, to say the very least.  Salaries are so not in-line with the rest of Lisbon’s payroll, like the recent hire of a financial/bookkeeper.  Have a wonderful day!!!

Video {Flatuous Five} is hilarious!  Can we get him to come here and perform?  Maybe then the townspeople would get motivated to GET INVOLVED!  Thank you for finding this....was a great chuckle and much needed!
Hello...love your site. Thank you.
Kudos to the Editor of the Lisbon Reporter. Where else can you find history, as not taught in our schools, information on government, humor, local current events, and the opportunity to voice ones opinion, amorously or not. I could go on and on, but you readers know what I mean.
Some have voiced disapproval and outright outrage for some articles printed. But, this is after all, a free country, and they have that right. Like it or not, agree with what is printed or not.
Again, Kudos, and keep up the good work.

Lisbon PWS Student’s Art Chosen for Portland Exhibition

By: Paula Caron
PWS Student Reporter

Lisbon - Philip W. Sugg Middle eight grade school student, Keely Domini’s art work has been chosen from a number of pieces created by students in Ms. Amy Crosby’s art class. “Selecting the piece for a show is one of the hardest decisions of the year! I always agonize over which piece to choose, because there are so many different and equally amazing ones. Several pieces usually stand out for different reasons, and Keely's portrait did because it was so lifelike,” according to Crosby. “I also have to take into account the fact this art will be representing our entire school, so it really has to be something special, done by someone who's not only good at art, but who works hard in all areas and exemplifies our school's values.” Domini’s art work will be on display at the Portland Museum of Art in Portland from Saturday, March 6th through Sunday, April 4th from 5:00 to 7:30. Admission to this event is free. FMI on the show contact Amy Crosby, 353-3055 or email acrosby@lisbonschoolsme.org.

Lisbon - Students in Mrs. Chris Cormier's second grade class at Lisbon Community School once again participated in the Hearts for Seniors Project for the residents at the Lamp Nursing Home in Lisbon.  Students volunteered their time to make special Valentines for the residents at the nursing home.  This is the sixth year students in Mrs. Cormier’s class assisted with the project.  “The students love making the connections in the community with our seniors.  They make their Valentine’s very unique and many of my students include poems and other messages with their Valentine cards,” shares Cormier. For more information on classroom partnerships at Lisbon Community School contact Monica Millhime, Community Resource Coordinator by calling 754-0021 or email mmillhime@lisbonschoolsme.org.

Tax Time

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him  taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax  his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his  cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his  pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax  his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax  his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think..

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax  his car,
Tax his gas,
Find  other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you  won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and  hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and  sore..

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod  in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
'Taxes drove  me to my doom...'

When he's  gone,
Do not relax,
Its time  to apply
The inheritance tax.

JASON LEVESQUE COMMENTS ON PRESIDENT OBAMA’S REVISED HEALTH CARE BILL

Auburn, Maine –President Obama today announced a revised Health Care proposal demanding passage within two weeks.  2nd District Congressional candidate Jason Levesque released the following statement on the discussion:
“This proposal is nothing more than a massive spending bill that does not actually improve the access or cost of health insurance for most Mainers.  Congressman Michaud, you have repeatedly called yourself a Blue Dog Democrat, implying a level of fiscal responsibility in your beliefs.  If that is true you must stand up to Nancy Pelosi and President Obama and reject this legislation.  This is not what the people of Maine want.  You cannot spend a trillion dollars and expect to save people money.  Let’s go back to the drawing board.  Getting this bill done quickly does not mean it will be done properly. Let’s get TORT reform, open up insurance for small business pooling and open the state lines so we can truly address the problem we have without putting our future generations in debt or increasing taxes on struggling families and businesses.”

Water Line Referendum‏

Town of Lisbon Water Referendum

The Lisbon Board of Water commissioners is asking for your support on the
referendum question to secure funding for the Route 9 Upland Road project.
Both of these roads have been scheduled for major construction over the next
two years. Once the two projects have been completed there is a five-year
moratorium on any new construction within these roads. There is a very
strong need to secure an alternate transmission line for water between
Lisbon and Lisbon Falls. This project will provide that transmission line
to provide an additional way of sending water to Lisbon Falls and at the same
time help the Route 9 residents with their contamination problems. This
project would also provide water to any future expansion in the Upland Road
area.

The project will include a 12-inch main from Barker Brook to Route 9 and
from Route 9 to Frost Hill Avenue with a short piece to connect onto Wing
Street.

Costs are distributed as follows:
Municipal pays for: Route 9 & Wing Street
Water Department pays for: Upland Road

We understand that water costs associated with this project will increase
your water rates. We also believe that the benefits to customers associated
with this project far outweigh the costs, which will be distributed over the
next 25 to 30 years. The Lisbon Water Department rates are currently 6th
lowest in the State.

Thank you for your consideration, and we ask for your support.

Self Serving Over Paid Chief

Thank you Lisbon Reporter for publishing the information concerning police salaries in Maine.  Don't forget the chief "retired" several years ago, so he collects his Maine State pension in addition to his salary.  Usually when a police chief or top official retires, there is a reduction in salary for that person and ACTUAL retirement follows.  Former Lewiston police chief's salary was reduced to accommodate his additional income(pension) and he actually retired from Lewiston.  Do people realize that the Lisbon police chief received a "second retirement matching funds" allotment from the Town for a period of time?  He thought he deserved it.

The Census Bureau According To Jerry Day

Emotions on all sides are far more extreme for this video than I anticipated. This presents a good opportunity for people post reviews of experiences they have through the year with actual Census workers so we can get a rough overview of how the Census Bureau is doing its job.

This video itemizes the fundamental legal questions that the Census Bureau refused to answer for me about its collection and use of personal information (see questions below). This program aired on Matrix News Network (syndicated national television) in January of 2010.

Once your information is out there, it is out there for good. There is no such thing as a "secure database" in government. Government data is bought, lost, stolen and viewed every day by everyone from law enforcement to criminals at all levels of society. There are even rumors that Census workers make deals to sell information to private parties. Beyond that is the question, if we agree to pass over our private information to bureaucrats, is there any limit to what they will ask for next?

On the other hand many people have expressed strong views that the Census is critical to facilitate effective and efficient allocation and distribution of public resources, not to mention the original purpose of establishing the number of seats in the House of Representatives.
The greatest confusion has been about the recent long-form-short-form issue.
There is a pdf file of the Census Bureau's AMERICAN COMMUNITY SURVEY (long form) Questionnairre at:
http://www.census.gov/acs/www/SBasics...
If you are not disturbed by the questions they will ask you on the long form then you are not reading it carefully.

Many people have requested this list:

QUESTIONS THAT THE CENSUS BUREAU REFUSED OR FAILED TO ANSWER (from Jerry Day's Matrix News Network segment: "The Census Is Getting Personal") I strongly suggest asking these questions of your Census Taker, especially if they show up with an "American Community Survey" form:

1) The Constitution authorizes government to count people but it does not authorize the taking of private information or even the names of individuals. From where does the Census Bureau derive authority to demand our private information?

2) Is there any limit to the amount and type of private information that the Census bureau may demand and collect?

3) Under what Constitutional authority does the Census Bureau collect information now from 250,000 people per month of every year?

4) The 4th Amendment to the Constitution prohibits government search and seizure of private information without a court warrant based on probable cause. Current Census policies violate that Amendment do they not?

5) By what Constitutional authority does the Census Bureau threaten penalties for failure to provide personal information?

6) The Census Bureau claims it maintains privacy of personal information. Are there any circumstances under which law enforcement or spy agencies can access Census information?

7) Since presumably Census data may be subpoenaed by law enforcement, may individuals refuse to answer questions according to the fifth Amendment?

8) Why has the Census Bureau decided to collect GPS coordinates for every home?

9) Virtually every government database has been either lost, hacked or compromised. Would the Census Bureau's claim of data security not be an outright lie or at best highly improbable?

10) How would the Census Bureau locate, protect and compensate those individuals whose data becomes compromised?
